I doubt anyone else had anything to do with her decision, from what I've heard and gathered: independent bookers rarely get as many bookings as those under an agency. I've seen alot of talented performers go the self booking route and all but disappear despite their tremendous talent. I believe the general gist of things is that when studios go with an agency, there's a sense of knowing what they are getting.
This is Kenna James we're talking about. She isn't struggling for bookings. She said in her onlyfans live she's been self booking for 5 1/2 years. Kenna works as much if not more than most girls in the industry and she just won 2 major awards being independent. I'm pretty sure every studio knows what they're getting in her. From what I've heard, everyone in the industry loves her. She knows a lot of the girls under the Motley roster so I'm sure she talked to them before signing. I'm sure she had her reasons for signing with Motley now. Maybe if she still around on here she could fill us in.
what a public figure posts on social media is not necessarily what is happening in reality - social media is just a marketing platform for people to project an image of success to achieve further success
the success of a girl's OF income is wholly reliant on public awareness - OF isn't a site where people can browse and see something they like, then buy it, it's pay to access and view. so whilst Kenna is speaking to her existing subscribers about how good she's got it, she's not able to say the same to non-subscribers (they can't see her content) so without a continued presence with mainstream production companies like Mindgeek/Gamma featuring her in scenes, her OF is not necessarily going to attract a new audience for growth
it's a business decision - get an agent to find the mainstream work for her, she can still accept bookings (redirected to her agent) from people who want to work with her again, and continue focusing her own time on her brand and other activities like OF
it's really logical when you understand what she gains from it

My opinion on the situation is that self booking probably is time consuming and she's such a big name that motley offered her a great deal just to have her on their books and therefore it was mutually beneficial.
My point is that Kenna isn't struggling to self book. I'm not sure how much you've followed her career, but just won Xbiz GG performer of the year and AVN Best Actress and had 7 AVN nominations this year. She also works for Gamma and Adulttime all the time. She's got 2 new scenes coming out next month for them alone. Getting work doesn't seem like an issue for her.
You might have been skewed since I mentioned something she told her fans on a live stream, but that has nothing to do with the success she's been having. I was trying to say that Kenna was already successful and busy in the industry without an agent. It's not like she's a new girl struggling to go get a following. She's a former Penthouse Pet of the Year, continuously works for all the major companies and with the top performers. She also travels around the country feature dancing and even acted in a mainstream movie last year.
So what I'm saying is this isn't the normal situation where a girl NEEDS an agent, this is a situation where a girl WANTS an agent. I can't say that she signed because she wants to focus on her brand or on onlyfans content or that she signed because she wants to win more of the big awards and needs an agency to politic for her.
Again, I'm just a fan looking in. If she's still on these boards then maybe she can tell us more.

Why does she need to explain? There is nothing controversial here. This is just a person making a business decision to free up more of her time

I wish more pornstars were like this. I bet being more selective about scenes and studios they shoot for would help them avoid problems. Most of the women don't even do simple research on the studios they shoot for.

I've said on more than one occasion, there's no need for any performer to go completing the circuit when it comes to porn and I call it the circuit because after you complete it; you're expected to pull off a trick in every scene rather than just simply enjoy yourself. On a different note, she is one of a select number of adult performers in possession of an adorable voice. I can't quite explain it, she could talk about the stock market or what she did on a day off and I'd be just sitting watching intently with the TV/radio off with the windows closed just to have that voice stroke my ears.
What are you talking about? She's still passionate about making porn. She has always been about quality over quantity when it comes to filming and producing new scenes. She took a short break from doing scenes for mainstream companies but she's back now. I'm still excited about any upcoming scenes she's planning to do.
