For individual categories like Performer of the Year or New Starlet my guess is it's whoever the voters actually bothered to watch (don't have the time or interest to watch everything eligible), personal favorites (bias) or association with any paid ads for scenes/movies the person was involved in.
Charly's showcase had a big AVN article (paid for by Jules) so no surprise it won best star showcase. Even without rigging, it probably would've won anyway as it was still a fantastic showcase (there should be more all IR B/G showcases) so its extra attention might've given Charly the edge over Kenzie.
Kenzie won Best New Starlet from NightMoves and Best New Performer from XBIZ so while winning the AVN award would've been nice she already has the trophies and validation. Personally seemed lazy of AVN to nominate her a year later but I guess in their eyes she wasn't established enough yet the year before.
Not interested in trans content but she did win the AVN Award for Best Trans Group Sex Scene (The Cum Sauna - Oopsie!)
So the night wasn't a complete waste of time for her if trophies are important.
XBIZ and Motley Models have a very weird relationship (somewhat unethical) so although I'd like the win to be valid I won't be surprised if Kenzie or another Motley girl win Female Performer of the Year at that award show. I did not, though i did find out a lot of the women are currently on hiatus due to a combo of recent covid infections and some stuff spreading within the industry due to untested people on set shooting regardless of status and spreading stuff

If you are referring to her last Summer hiatus it already ended in October. She got monkey pox at the end of July/beginning of August and she suffered quite a lot both physically and mentally.
It was discussed in several posts in the previous thread page.
Most of performers vaccinated for human pox, that protects also from monkey pox, at the end of Summer and the related health concern among them quickly decreased.
Has Kenzie announced another break? If yes, where? Because I haven't found anything about that on her recents tweets.The current health concern among performers is not due to covid but the to the spread of gonorrhea and a rare chlamydia strain, asymptomatic in most of the cases and detectable only through oral, vaginal and rectal swab tests.
May I ask what women you find out are on hiatus? Because I check performers twitter quite a lot and doesn't seem to me. I know that some had to cancel shoots because tested unexpectedly positive being completely asymptomatic, but I'm not aware of any performers on hiatus because of this recent STDs spread. Eg. Freya Parker tweeted that she resulted positive to a rectal swab not doing anal content at all. Jamie Michelle posted a long IS stories two 2 days ago says she tested positive to chlamydia throat swab by TTS in Miami last Monday. She has been on hiatus since September because she upgraded her boobs and resumed shooting the week before Christmas and she shot 3 more scenes during the first week of the year. She said that in 5 months prior to that she hadn't shot any collabs content and that hadn't oral sex with her partner over the previous month, but she tested positive to her first throat swab ever being completely asymptomatic. She also said at first she wasn't totally pro swabs test, but now she fully support them.
If you referring to the lack or cancelled shoots during the past month the reasons are: the production hold called by PASS on 12/05 and lifted on 12/11, shortly after performers reported test results discrepancy this adding even more confusion and concern, some still tested positive and had to cancel their planned shoots, then came Christmas holiday season and an anticipated awards seasons (AVN usually took place at end of January and not the beginning). Hopefully after the XBIZ awards and with swabs test added to standard panel since January 1 everything will come back to normal, health concerns will decrease and trust on testing industry system will rise (now is very low).
After a first debate among performers with pro and against factions about swab tests. There is now a general consensus about their utility and need, but the main problem is their costs with testing facilities charging up to $60 for every single swab so +$180 to add to cost of the previous standard panel every 14 days. Performers are now pressuring to lower the swab tests cost and to add new testing facilities and doctor centers (not allowed currently) to the PASS system.
Back to Kenzie, if it's true (confirmed) that she is again on hiatus due to recent STDs spread I full understand her particularly after what she went trough this Summer.

Kenzie goes live a lot on her onlyfans and she's told fans on them that she's taking a break from shooting because she felt overworked last year and because her body went through a lot with illnesses. She had Monkey pox and then had a bout with MRSA too.

Doesn't necessarily mean she will shoot less overall; the usual suspects that get nominated and win awards often film features and showcases around the summer when out of towners are more available and release just before the eligible submission periods. She also wants to do more mainstream projects. Euphoria was just a cameo AFAIK but it did make her eligible to join SAG-AFTRA.
In a different interview during AEE she said her agent told her since doing porn she's shot over 300 scenes. I'm doubtful about that unless it includes OnlyFans collabs (but no agency should be having input or taking a cut from non-studio work IMO... but Motley Models is shaddy so who knows)
She currently has slightly more than 100 scenes released so either the agent was exaggerating or a ton of companies are stupidly sitting on dozens of scenes for one of the most popular newer girls at the moment. For example although she's not in it the Hotel Vixen series is 2 years old but is only now being released...
Motley already limits valid work opportunities for their talent for BS reasons so even if she wasn't planning to focus on award type shoots and mainstream projects I always had doubts she would be shooting constantly if Motley has a smaller pool of sites they deem acceptable. Unless Motley chooses to not be dumb or she switches to a better agency the chances of getting new scenes frequently seems low.
I actually have more faith in her OF collabs for this year. Unlike other girls her full vids are good value for price and quality. Obviously don't want her to be semi-retired but would rather have some new OF B/G content now and then vs none at all or simple Solos.

Briefly seen in No Jumper AVN vlog. Sounds like she doesn't see herself shooting as much this year if she was indeed overworked in 2022 and setting a new personal record. Would be nice to see these supposedly hundreds of shot scenes get released frequently throughout this year and she shoots some new stuff a few times a month.
^ An agent could suggest to a girl to shoot less to increase demand. If a girl has scenes out every other day, studios may consider a girl "shot out" and don't want to shoot new scenes with her, so it might be wiser to pace out the scenes an actress appears, and only slowly have new scenes trickle in, so customers get excited when finally a new scene with their favorite starlet appears.
It's the same with mainstream Hollywood actors. You simply don't appear in any movie you get sent a script for (except if you're Nicolas Cage), but try to select the projects according to what you think is best for your career... except if you need the money, I guess.
Maybe not so common now but it wasn't always the case. I won't put the owner of the agency on blast (the articles are out there to read) but this agency owner was making tons of money through OF referral fees because this person had girls on their roster sign up new accounts through their links. If the talent was a new face she probably didn't think twice and accepted the help.
Eventually girls would realize they were helping this owner earning money for personal content and then would start brand new accounts on their own and OF eventually changed their policy in 2020 though of course OnlyFans wanted to give itself a bigger % for doing squat too.
I haven't read the terms of service in a while but it wouldn't surprise me if there are still referral fees and agents who think they can get away with it still do this practice. Even if it's only for a few months, that's extra money in their pocket.
Another agency I won't name had basically zero talent on their roster working during the COVID restrictions so I can only assume stayed in business by collecting referral fees from OF creators who's accounts were originally created by that owner

Didn't expect Lex. Either this was among his first comeback projects (DarkX being the other) before settling back into his gig at Jules Jordan with Mike John, or he's actually still free to shoot with any company who wants to hire him and not exclusive.
