I was in high school when Kevin James (a.k.a. Kevin Gibson) passed away in 1987 and saw a number of his better known movies. Although the cause of death was listed as testicular cancer, there was considerable buzz that the actual cause of death was from AIDS. Remember this was during the early years of the AIDS epidemic which was sweeping the California gay community, and Kevin James was rumored to be gay even as he was performing in heterosexual porn. When a high profile porn star like Kevin James died at such a young age, it briefly sent the San Fernando Valley porn industry into a panic.
The agency which booked him, the now closed World Modeling in Sherman Oaks, went to great lengths to assure the actresses who worked with him that "it was only cancer."
