I little while ago I stumbled acrosse the picture that I am now using as my avatar somewhere on the Internet. When I saw it I thought for sure that it was from a porn parody about the Duke lacrosse scandal. Turns out it is not (or at least not to my knowledge). But if that is indeed the case doesn't it beg the question: Why hasn't someone made a porn out of this already? And for the people in the photo: Why after getting all dressed-up in costumes didn't you just start doing "it" and video tape the results?
I'd pay money to see it and I'm sure a lot of other people would to. It might even get some attention in the mainstream media which cannot be bad for sales. So why doesn't someone do this?
Would you be interested in a lacrosse scandal porn parody?

I think the rape thing and the damaged lives makes it parody-proof.

If that were the case no one would have posed for the picture that I am using as an avatar. The picture itself is a parody.
I wouldn't be suprised if a porn studio was waiting to produce something such that its release could coincide with the release of the upcoming HBO movie on the subject.
I don't imagine that the porn would follow the actual story but even if it did it wouldn't be the first porn with a darker emotional side and a moral. That being said I'd prefer something on the lighter side.

You're all over the map on this. First off, you don't seem to understand the meaning of the word "parody." By definition, a parody is humorous or comical in nature.
And while porn may have a "darker emotional side," porn parodies are generally pretty light-hearted in tone.
Lastly, parody or not, I'm not sure what aspect of the lacrosse scandal you think viewers would find titillating or arousing. Is it the prospect of a woman being held against her will and gang-raped (which, thankfully, we now know never happened) or the irreversible damage to the reputations of the team and its members?
PS: With regard to your avatar, the fact that three people were dumb enough to pose for that picture, a fourth was dumb enough to photograph it and a fifth was dumb enough to use it as his avatar does nothing to suggest that the lacrosse scandal is in need of a parody.

I know what the definition of parody is. However, in the case of porn "parody" is often used to describe any movie based on the mere idea of the original regardless of whether or not it is a comedy. The fact that it is a porn version makes it a parody in and of itself.
As for the number of people in the photo there are actually five.
And you say that lives were ruined? I'm not so sure that was the case. The players on the Duke team were exonerated and made off with a substantial financial settlement. The former coach of Duke while having lost his job got a new one at a good university and then went on to lead Team USA to a world championship. All that and he made more money off of this than anyone. As for the dancer, Crystal Mangum, well she's still up to her crazy antics as usual.
I guess I see the benefit of making a porn (very) loosely based on this story would be that it could be a good cautionary tale and a porn with a decent moral.

You're extraordinarily misinformed. And multiple edits to your post over a five hour span? Seriously?
Your description of a parody as "any movie based on the mere idea of the original" is just plain inaccurate. While you are half-right in that a parody needn't be laugh-out-loud funny to qualify, the intent of any parody is to mock the original work or events in humorous or satirical fashion. For instance, the prospect of a "Pirates of the Caribbean" remake does not inherently qualify as satirical. But a loosely based, unauthorized adaptation of the film where Jack Sparrow is re-cast as a cock-hungry blonde does. Its the satirical nature of the work, not the fact that it was shot by a porn studio, that makes it qualify.
All of that said, and regardless of your understanding of the word "parody," the notion of taking a tragic event and turning it into porn fodder is revolting. And your assertion that it should serve as a "cautionary tale" is absurd. Maybe you feel that there should be a 9/11-themed "parody?" Or a porn "parody" revolving around the Columbine massacre? Or, for that matter, that the sexual abuse of young child should be "parodied" by the porn industry?
And BTW, I never said that "lives were ruined." I wrote that "irreversible damage" was done to the reputations of some parties, which is indisputable. They are hardly one-and-the-same. (It is also impossible for you to qualify the financial settlement as "substantial," since the terms were undisclosed.) While you seem to have a cavalier "all's well that end's well" attitude, I'm not sure that the anyone directly involved with that whole ugly incident feels the same.

So really, you're equating a few people being slandered with a couple of the worste mass murders in US history? That's ridiculous.
As for damaged reputations a porn on the subject could actually help to ameliorate that situation.
Also for the record I don't want to see this produced to see a rape scene. I figure the gang rape that never happened in real life wouldn't happen in the movie either. That scene would be replaced by a consentual gang bang or maybe even a wishful thinking dream scene of a consentual gang bang.
The thing is there was actually a case brought up in a town that I lived in where a girl actually cried rape after she consentually took part in a gang bang. Luckily the whole incident was recorded on video and the judge dismissed the case. Those kids who did the banging were lucky and yet for however long the legal process lasted I'm sure they were in Hell.

Porn is not real life. Some of the most scandalous news stories that are unfortunate in real life can make for some potentially good porn. After all, there are some political scandals that have caused damaged lives. But these scandals still get parodied both in porn, and in mainstream comedy. The Monica Lewinsky scandal is one that comes to mind.
I have my own opinions about the Duke lacrosse rape scandal. The lacrosse players were a group of pathetic bitches who deserved no sympathy. Mike Nifong was disbarred not because of any professional violations he committed, but because he had the audacity to charge a bunch of rich white boys with a crime.
But that's neither here, nor there. My opinions of the real case nothwithstanding, I do agree that the case would make for good porn. If you can't be offensive in porn, then where can you be offensive? Depending on who's in it, I might watch it.
I'll even make cast suggestions right now. I say cast Melody Nakai and Megan Vaughn as the two strippers who were there that night. The players can be played by James Deen, Mr. Pete, Scott Nails, Bill Bailey, and Bruce Venture, with Jay Strokes as the one black guy on the team. Manuel Ferrara can play the coach, and Keni Styles can play Mike Nifong. They can also add a couple of hot white girls to the mix so that all the work for the movie won't be solely on the two black girls.
I say somebody should make this movie.

I'm demonstrating how, when your claims are followed to their logical conclusions, your arguments really don't hold up.
As for your continued downplaying of the event and the ramifications of it for many people (e.g. "a few people being slandered"), it seems clear to me that you simply don't take rape, the accusation of rape, etc... all that seriously. You may think of it all as being no big thing, but I assure you that many people do.
That said, I think that my participation in this increasingly revolting discussion is over. Ciao.

Amee, that's not a logical conclusion in fact it is a logical fallicy. The "slippery slope" argument if I remember what they taught us is college.
As for me not having empathy for the people involved with the case I don't think that's true at all. If a porn of this nature gets even one woman not to falsely cry rape many people will benefit and the suffering that acused endured will not so much be in vain.

Honestly, is there even the slightest bit of thought to ANYTHING you say? Or are you just throwing out buzzwords at this point?
Re-read what I wrote. I stated that if we follow your claims to "their logical conclusions"... That statement has absolutely nothing to do with a logical fallacy. And BTW, its spelled "fallacy," not "fallicy."
This comment is just too ridiculous to merit a response.

More important than the cast, the major challenge is the plot/storyline. How to spin it? How to associate it with the infamous lacrosse scandal, while keeping it sufficiently lighthearted and upbeat to be legitimately called a parody?

Amee, You are the one that is not making sense. You are just reacting emotionally.
Your presentation of the slippery slope argument is indeed a logical fallacy.
I'm starting to think your comments are so knee jerk and not thought out that I shouldn't comment on them at all.
Getting back to the movie concept, I think that if you make the interracial gang bang a dream scene you could make it work. The exculpatory evidence could be brought up as punch lines like "But the semen of the four men found on you doesn't match any one on the team." Cue laugh track.
Nifong could provide tons of comedy as the politically motivated DA that ends up losing his license and going to jail. And his name is even ripe for parody.
To lessen the seriousness of the players plight they could hold up inside with the support of the women's team and have a continuous sex marathon. This would be in keeping with the way the Duke women's lacrosse team did in fact show their support for the men's team. I don't know if they actually treated them to a sex marathon but they did wear arm bands and make statements.

The more recent lacrosse-related story is the male lacrosse who murdered his ex, a female lacrosse player. This may have already been mentioned in the posts I didn't read. I think the parody window has closed, but there is still room in the porn industry for people who actually play lacrosse and play athlete characters on set.

You're right, Clams. I should have known better. Lets hope that this buffoon gets the boot before he posts again. Maybe his next proposal will be a "parody" where porn actors skull fuck the the corpses of the victims of 9/11. Cuz, you know, it would be a good "cautionary tale." *sarcasm* And of course, it will end up being a dream sequence, so its all totally okay.
In any case, I'm done with this thread. I should have stuck to my convictions the first time around, but his sheer inability to comprehend the finer details of the English language put me back into irritated mode.

Let's face it the Duke lacrosse sex scandal is much more analogous the the Monica Lewinski/Bill Clinton sex scandal than it is to the 9/11 or Columbine massacres. In the first two cases there was lewd behavior but no actual sex or crime even while in the latter two many innocent people were murdered in cold blood. See the difference?
If that doesn't make sense to you then let's just agree to disagree.
And I stand by my conviction that a lacrosse sex scandal porn could be done tastefully. If "Sex, Lies and the President" and "Tiger's Got Wood" were a "go" there is no reason that this shouldn't be. I dare say that Chelsea Clinton and Tiger Wood's children were more seriously and irreparably harmed by their father's actions than the Duke players were by the exotic dancer's.
I think the real reason that some people are against the idea of this is because they still see the victim as the dancer when really if you look at the mountains of evidence it is the other way around. Either that or some people are so unfamiliar with the preponderance of evidence that they think a rape actually occured when that couldn't be further from the truth.
