I feel slightly silly for asking this, but I don't know why considering it's a pretty mild question. I've been altering my pubic hair for a couple of years now, since well, it's become pretty commonplace and I'm a neat freak. I started with trimming and recently having been shaving it clean off. Besides the initial itching, it's ultimately more comfortable and the cleaner look didn't hurt neither.

At times I'd just let it all grow back in short for a month, then shave it off again, but recently I have started shaving off all but a 1/2-inch thick "landing strip" that stretched from the base up to my belly button. I think it looks fine, but so far I get the idea that it's mostly a female thing. If it matters any, my sexual orientation is straight and I'm male, as mentioned.

So what's the opinion here? Specifically of the ladies?

I believe it is an all or nothing sort of deal, but then I'm not a woman either.

1 to 4 vote so far, if I'm reading everybody right. Well, no partner has seen my strip, yet I've only "styled" it this way a couple times. I don't think it looks all that bad or silly, I just wanted to do something besides keeping it natural (and widespread), but trimmed.

I'm sure somebody in the business would know better than me. How commonplace is this on a straight male?

Landing strips look good on guys who are in shape and have a flat stomach. If you've got a paunch though, trimmed neatly looks better IMO.

I have a landing strip. Wifey loves it that way. However, I do have a flat stomach. I wouldn't mind if some guys liked it, since I have bi tendencies.

Fine if you're gay, I think.
A little gay if you're not.

Wouldn't that be more defined by who you fuck?

After all, if girl likes landing strip then there's no reason to deny, even if it feels a little goofy. Unless you regularly show off your pubes to the guys at work or down the pub...

rather than just a strip, you should shave it into an arrow pointing down.

With some flashing little LEDs perhaps?

No, shave the parts of the arrows in chevrons, then dye the hair in alternating flourescents. Nothing as tacky as flashing LEDs.

Shave it off and put some grass seed down there instead. I once saw a grass covered VW Beetle and it looked cool. Kentucky bluegrass is nice.

WTF do I need a landing strip for?

Oh yes, because the landing tower is nearby.

Wow. I find all this gay, gay, gay stuff really odd.

Gay is when you're a guy who likes to suck and fuck guys, right?

And pubic hair is . . . uh . . . pubic hair, right?

And gals can grow it bushy, cut it close, trim it in patterns, lay down landing strips, shave it or wax it all off.

And their choices in this area are indicative of their sexual preferences . . . how?

Seems to me it's a question of (a) what feels good and looks good to you; and (b) what turns on your partner(s).

As for me, I've had it bushy, trimmed close, shaved balls, shaved off, and landing stripped at various times. I don't happen to like the completely shaved look on myself because I have a reasonable amount of chest and leg hair and it just doesn't blend in well. But the less hair I have on my cock and balls, the more my package feels like a sensitive piece of sex meat -- which I kinda get off on. Makes for better blowjobs and ball sucking, and a wet pussy feels even juicier on a slick dick.

To EtherealChaos I say: Whatever floats your boat, dude. It's all good.

Somewhat tongue in cheek. I should say, personally, that I find the idea of men going topiary with their pubic hair to be a tad "fey" or "dandy," perhaps, or "metrosexual." Of course, I suppose "bears" don't shave anywhere anytime at all. Who said "gay" had to imply sexual preference?

I mean, like, if you see some dude with a lightning bolt, it's a bit, er, something, isn't it? I'd call it daft, at a minimum. But that's my preference. Keeping the parcels nice and clean and trimmy is always a good thing, though, for many of the reasons Bob stated.

Topiary (e.g., hearts, lightening bolts) seems kind of silly to me, too, but not fey.

As for landing strips, Michael Stefano and Lex Steele both have 'em and I don't think of either of them as effeminate or metrosexual. As a matter of fact, I don't think of myself that way, either.

In any event, this subject is the stuff of tongues in cheeks -- serious it ain't. So, 'nuff said.

I think of myself as "the burly metrosexual."

Maybe I have misunderstood what constitutes a "landing strip." isn't it a narrowed thatch, akin to the shape of an exclaimation point, with the "dot" being the cock?

Actually, if someone shaved their pubic hair into an exact exclamation point, that would be "designer-istic" and neither gay or fey.

I guess I think of a landing strip as any pubic hair growth pattern that's in between a full "triangle" and completely shaved.

But maybe some of the variations are better thought of as helipads.

Wow, I come back and see that this topic grew. Well, I do agree with those of you that said landing strips on dudes are probably more fitting if you have a toned body. I'm of average build, not fat, but not muscular. I still don't think a wide/long landing strip looks too strange on a male, but I can understand everyone's opinion so far.

As for alternatives... Keeping the hairs trimmed all over is kind of an annoyance for me. I have to be partially shaved because, well frankly, it itches; my balls specifically. Totally shaved is silly to me. Actually, I change my mind. A "modified" trinagle trim with some spot-shaving is as comfortable as the landing strip and maybe won't look as silly. Ah, detailed discussions on pube shaving. Only on ADT.
