Laser's Edge have a new great-looking website with significantly improved features and a stock availability indicator for its titles. I'll be checking out the shopping cart soon
The new site is nice. However, there is one think that I think that they need to fix. When you choose the sory by release date option, they sort in ascending order so the oldest releases come first. They should be sorting the date in descending order so that the most recent titles appear first.
Little tricky but it is possible. Click on NEW RELEASES then click twice on release date. Or you can do an ADVANCED SEARCH and select the number of days you want to look at.
I will let the programmers know they need to make that a little more obvious ;-)
Have you tried the advanced search options?

There is a great search in the CRITERIA SELECTION section. You can look back and see what was added to the site. Change the "Added in the last..." field to however many days you want and it will bring back whatever was added to the site in those day(s). (works for the gay site as well and also the mainstream site). Very cool search option. That way you can see what we added without having to browse through all the new releases. Just do it daily!
That's why I think that the New Releases should be sorted in the order of newest to oldest as the default. That way with a single click you can see the newest release right at the top of the list without having to go through the advanced search. Some of the other retailers also include the release date on the selection list. That way, nobody has to remember if they had seen the first title on the list the last time that they were at the site (or select the first title on the list and look at the release date on the detail screen).
IMO, the advanced search should be used for "advanced" functions, not the most common ones.
I know that what I wrote comes off more critical than I really feel. I just have a tendency to be pretty blunt about any system (or in this case a single function) that I think is inproperly designed (I design mainframe systems for a living).
Clicking the "Release Date" link twice, works just fine for me.

It DOES look better however I would beg to differ on the "significantly improved features" comments, the old site was much easier to navigate, looking up new releases or specials was not a pain like now and you had the option of listing DVDs by studio.
Frankly it is a major disapointment for me, this interface is a mess and they should really get to work on improving this new site.
I am sorry to hear your disappointment. However, I don't think you have found the advanced search page. It is marked right below the standard search. We have made it much easier to search using this page, by offering a number of "improvements" over the previous site's search engine.
http://adult.lasersedge.com/search.asp?tMedia=1
You can now search by
1. recent releases in set (by you) number of days 2. price range 3. studio and genre (both at the same time! for example you can search for NUTECH titles that are all CLASSICS and return just those discs!) or you can simply search by either studio or genre! 4. and do a synopsis search as well
Please check that page out to see the "improvements". They may not be right on the side bar (due to redesign issues) but they are there and better than ever.
Thanks Marc @ The Laser's Edge

I read here (from rieekan333's post) that there is a "stock availability indicator" at Lasersedge.
Really? If there is indeed one, I haven't found it. Does it look similar to Five Star's ultra-simple system: in stock: green + out of stock: red -
I ordered 5 DVDs from Lasersedge which all had an indicator "usually ships in 1-3 days".
I haven't received the shipment. Now I learn that 2 out of the 5 titles is actually out of stock and that it could take an other two weeks before they receive them.
What is the point of offering FAST (and very expensive) international shipment (DHL Express) given that you have to wait a couple of weeks before the DVDs are in stock?
Nudity, I understand your concerns. I also ordered from Laser's Edge recently and one of the titles turned out to be back-ordered.
Statements like "Usually Ships in 1 - 3 Days" are a stock indicator. The question is whether or not such statements are updated in the appropriate timely manner.
If the statements are updated in real-time or with similar speed, then they are a very good stock indicator. But even if they aren't, technically they still give you an indication of stock.
The former is much preferable to the latter, but I'm not sure how Laser's Edge are maintaining this feature.
On that note, I find it interesting that Adult DVD Empire uses red to denote items in stock and green to denote items out of stock. Excuse the tangent it's 3am here

rieekan333,
I sent Laser's Edge 6 substitute titles, all "usually ships in 1-3 days". Only one is in stock.
Combining order and substitutes gives a dismal score of 4 in stock, 7 out of stock.
I can only conclude that their (on-line) indicator "usually ships in 1-3 days" is a hollow phrase. It seems unrelated to factual stock information.
I just ordered from them Thursday with a 1-3 day title that shipped out yesterday. The new site was much easier to navigate than I remember, and was much more pleasing to the eye. My only complaint about the entire thing is that my account wasn't there any more, so I had to start up a new one. It's not a big deal, but still was a pain in the butt.
Now the only thing that really looks like it needs a change is to get it in the Kickback program!
I haven't really been active for a few weeks, but I agree with everyone else's feedback that the new site does indeed look much better. Haven't had a chance to try using it yet, but as Astro and Mike have mentioned it would certainly be great to see LE join the kickback program, more customer incentives at no cost to the retailer! :)
Seeing as I just gave an opinion in another Laser's Edge thread about their new releases newsletter e-mails, I thought I would give my opinion on one or two points:
I wish they would put a Studio Listing "drop box" on the main page like most other e-tailers. Going to the Advanced Options page is a right pain!!!
I would also prefer an option reminiscient of the old system, where, you could also display the titles as a text list aswell as with thumbnails of the covers and just see a (complete) list of, say, a studio's titles.
It would be nice if there was also an option to change the number of titles that appear in a page, or in the results of a search to say 50 or 100 at a time. Going through each separate page of 15 is too time consuming...
That's all I can think of for now. I know their new site is a work in progress, but some of my points should make it easier, although it depends on the loading and programming overhead.
Anyone else care to comment??

I trusted Lasersedge "usually ships in 1-3 days" claim and I ordered 5 DVDs for $ 65.75.
Several emails and weeks later, I receive 3 of those 5 titles (of which one DVD is defective) plus 2 overpriced substitute titles for a grand total of $ 85.75.
