Hi, I am going to order at least 4 disks from lasersedge using the DHL shipping, is it wise to ask to get the boxes removed? I havs used the shipping special before but that was for just one disk. This is a big order for me and I do not want it opened (customs) etc, any advice would be most helpfull.
You didn't say what country you are residing in so it's going to be hard for others to comment.
If you are in Canada, there is no need to remove the cases. I've ordered as many as 12 DVDs from Laser's Edge with the cases and factory sealed. Use DHL Express as well, got the DVDs after paying GST. This is real cool as some stores ship without cases and so far the replacement DVD cases sold at A&B Sound or other brick and mortar stores all seem to be inferior. The original cases are of good quality.
So if you are in Canada, keep the cases besides if you change your mind, you can return the movie for a refund so long you have not opened it.
I'm in the UK and have used international couriers on numerous occasions, including Lasers Edge's DHL shipping. I always have the boxes included and have never had one of these packages opened by customs. I typically order three or four disks at a time so, if you're in the UK, I think you'll be fine.

sdc, does a courier knock on your door in the morning with the box or is sent through Royal Mail? What does the box look like and is it just one size they give out?
IMO there's really no need to ask for the boxes to be removed for a courier delivery. I've never had any examined by customs, though that's no guarantee.
jibstar, the courier delivers the package, not by mail...that's the whole point!! Packages vary - some stores use the courier's padded bags/envelopes and some stores use a plain box.
I've also received discs a few times via courier post , and live in the UK so maybe my experience will be helpful too . Ordered from Lasersedge using DHL Express on about 4 DVDs all in their boxes . The box was delivered by a courier in a DHL van which parked in front of the house . Can't remember off hand if he required a signature , though he probably did . The package was unopened and had been marked as costing $19 even though the true cost was nearer $90 . This last point is quite important as once the value of goods exceeds a certain amount you have to pay import VAT ( 17.5 % ? ) .
A while later I ordered using Fed Ex from FiveStar with slightly different results . This discs were delivered in a plastic bag ( non transparent ) , which was marked at full value . A month later a nice letter came in the post from FedEX asking for the £20 VAT they had paid at customs to expedite a speedy trip through customs for my package . Just a point you may want to consider when deciding which service to go for .
Oh , and in both cases the DVDs were factory sealed and brand new .
One thing I forgot to mention, which can be a drawback, is that if you want the goods ASAP, sometimes Laser's Edge don't have them in stock, though this info isn't available on their site. If you're in a hurry to get them, maybe you could contact them to check first, to save experiencing the "back order" blues...
Well gave it ago, ordered the disks on the 5th, they where shipped on the 6th, recieved them on the 10th in the UK today. The order was using the DHL method, the dvds I ordered where the Fashionistas and a assman title.
You said you used shipping special from Laseredge, is that World mail? Can you tell me if World mail is from DHL and if they leave delivery advise if no one is at home? Thks.
Hi, when I did use the shipping special ($1.99) all I know is that it was delivered by the post man just like ordinary mail. It also took a lot longer to get to the UK, what I do know is the shipping special is not DHL. The disks that I did order and used DHL cost $24.oo, quite a differance in price but for peace of mind if nothing else.
