I ordered three discs from Lasersedge on 6/15/2005.
Received them today 7/8/2005. It came in a slim white jiffy bag. Great.

Another order for three more discs was submitted on 7/1/2005. Looking forward to receive three more discs in about 2 weeks time. (? 7/21/2005)

I feel like submitting another order for 1 more disc in the next few days.

Excellent & prompt email replies from Marc Daege. International Orders are charged a FLAT rate of US$1.99 Air Mail if one selects Adult Shipping Special.

I agree Laser's Edge is one of the good stores to buy from. Marc was always prompt in answering emails and resolving problems. Problems like scratched or damaged discs, Marc was prompt to give me either a refund or replacement - my choice.

The downside is Laser's Edge may not always have stock - some movies do go into backorder for a while.

I think as to delivery times, this probably has nothing to do with the store but the carrier. Shipping by courier is always fast, matter of 1 or 2 days and Global Priority takes longer.

For international customers, having to pay for the cost of shipping the discs back to Laser's in the US, is somewhat of a bummer.

I ordered one more DVD yesterday. Today I received an email from Marc saying that it has been despatched. Damn efficient.

Thumbs up to Marc @ Lasersedge.

They're good when it comes to prices, a lot of the times cheaper than most other stores. The $1.99 shipping is also very good eventhough it takes a little longer for your order to arrive (around 20 days). They also ship pretty fast the items in-stock but that's also a problem because they don't mention if a movie is in-stock or not unlike most other stores. Some back-ordered movies can take a while before they get.

Just received the 3 discs which I ordered on 7/1/2005. I was annoyed that the discs came with DVD cases which I specifically mentioned to Marc to discard them.

Luckily it got through Customs. It could have aroused Customs suspicions due to its bulkiness.

Weird! I've just ordered my first 3 discs from LE - they took about 10 days to come into stock, but only 4 days from dispatch to my door. I choose "global priority envelope", added a special instruction "please do not send cases" just in case, and that's exactly what I got - a very discreet envelope, DVDs put together in a single paper sleeve, customs declaration of "Software media - commercial sample", valued at $18 - exactly what you'd want.

Maybe it just depends which employee does the packing?

I can't understand why Lasersedge doesn't state what actually is 'in stock' on their site.

3 days after my order i get an e mail saying 2 dvds are back ordered. Most retailers on ADT would have told me that instantly from looking at their site.

Do i have to e mail Lasersedge before every order?

Damn It!!! This is the 2nd time I am still receiving DVD cases from Lasersedge when I left them specific instructions to DISCARD DVD cases!!! The parcel was opened by Customs but, luckily, it was left intact without confiscation & resealed with sellotape. It could have been seized by Customs. Damn ANNOYED!!!

Marc,

Why can't your packers just follow customers' request? Lasersedge need to BUCK up!!!

I also received two DVD's yesterday which were suppose to come only with the artwork and discs but they didn't. The bad part is I'm still waiting for 4 DVD shipped to me on July 11. I wrote no cases but I'm afraid they have included the cases and that's why it's taking this long.

I'm currently awaiting a DVD posted on the 12 July, with case,
and starting to get slightly concerned.

Guys - if you select the global priority envelope/no cases option at checkout time you will receive just the discs and artwork. It costs slightly more, but not that much.

Actually big orders with cases (3+) could take up to 6 to 8 weeks. It happened to me.

About six weeks ago I received 3 DVDs with artwork but WITHOUT cases (as instructed), even though, I selected Adult Shipping Special @ US$1.99 flat rate for unlimited number of discs.

The 2nd (3 discs) & 3rd delivery (1 disc) came with DVD cases even though I specifically mentioned to Marc to DISCARD those bulky cases!!!

It's obvious the persons in charge of packing is not doing a good job. I especially don't want cases not only because of customs but also because I've had orders stolen from Lasersedge in the past so it's better to avoid that.

AFAIK, Marc has explained this before as being down to Laser's Edge operating a regular bricks and mortar store alongside the online store, which has caused them some difficulty in synchronising inventory. That said, the problem you mention is one of the reasons I'd mark Laser's Edge about 7 out of 10.

I've also had some issues with them lately on shipping of goods, but I must say Marc has been exemplary in resolving any problems. Still, I definitely think whoever is doing packing/dispatch needs to raise their game.

i had the same problem folks, ordered on the 7th july. i emailed lasersedge and got this -

Stuart

We are dealing with an issue with shipments sent around that time. They didn't get processed by our postal facility until the 13th of July for some reason (we are still trying to figure out why from the postal facility). We are anticipating their delivery by the end next week.

Marc Daege

i had 2 separate orders outstanding, 1 turned up yesterday.

This is a relief. I was writing-off a disc that went in the post on 21st July under the $1.99 Shipping Special. I think in future I should play it safe and go for Global Priority.

Much to my relief my order posted 12 July arrived the day before yesterday. Over a month from the US - curious to know what method of transportation and route it was shipped by.

I had an order shipped 28 July and arrived today 18 August. So that's 3 weeks using the pidgeon post method.

It arrived with its box even though I stated that I wanted just the disc and cover. Not concerned with Customs opening the package but the theft.

I have another order shipped on 8 August so lets see how that one arrives and how long it takes.

Still no sign of my 21st July package (32 days now). I'd pretty well written the thing off until I started getting my hopes up with this thread ;)

I'd still use L/edge like a shot, mind. I'd just use a different shipping option.

The site does say that international orders can take up to 6 weeks to arrive. 6 weeks from 11 July is 22 August(!) so, Ramsey, if your order doesn't arrive very soon I think you'd be justified in contacting Lasersedge about it. The rest of us (I'm waiting on an order from about 21 July) have a bit more waiting to do.

I am baffled at why it takes so long in this day and age.

The package says Int'l Priority Airmail, Jamaica NY where does it go all this time?

Looking on my package it went from the US to Sweden first and then to Holland. That must be the reason why it took 6 weeks. Why did it go to Sweden first?

Maybe the Yak got lost?

I've been looking around at international shipping rates and options and Amazon's site has made me realise just how dodgy the game can be. They have a standard international shipping rate which matches L/E's basic (non-special) rate and they talk about shipping in 9-36 business days, so they expect packages to take up to six weeks in transit, and warn that customs can turn that into twelve weeks!

As far as I can ascertain (and correct me if I'm wrong), Media Mail is a USPS service based on shipping ready-sorted bags for destinations, so items may have to wait in the mailbag until there's enough items to make up a bag. Then the bag might have to join a queue for actual shipping (joining a full container of mail on a ship bound for Sweden), then the Swedish Postal Service ships it on to the UK. It sits around the Customs shed in London for a few days before finally getting into the UK postal system.

Then again (and more likely) Media Mail might be based on the intergalactic networks of wormholes which have successfully for millenia transported odd socks and ballpoint pens around the universe.

Take your pick.

I ordered a CD from US Amazon hoping to get it in time for Christmas, and it turned up late in April!

I think with L/e, Global Priority is the way to go - come on guys, splash out the extra $5 (=£3)!

Guys,

Marc doesnt check ADT all that often, as far as I know, so if you've left specific instructions to discard and they haven't been followed, you're best off emailing Lasers' Edge directly to get an answer.

By all means feel free to post here, so that other customers can see that there is an issue, but to get an answer, etc, you're better off speaking to LE directly.

cheers,

scipio

I mailed Marc today as my latest order was sent with the cases (which our postman is in the habit of leaving by the front door in full view of the street) and he sent me this reply:
So hopefully this will resolve the matter once and for all.

My order shipped on 8 August arived today 30 August, 3wks like the last order.

Like bacchus they shipped with the boxes and the postie left it on the doormat because it was too big to fit through the letter box. Lucky no one walked off with it as I would be none the wiser.

I recently ordered from lasersedge using global priority letter.

It arrived after 10 days which is slightly longer than other retailers but they did ship the discs and covers only as requested.

I use Global Priority with cases (want those original PXP, RLD cases with holes in them)
Good thing is I never payed any tax, sometimes ordering from the US I've been picking it up here in Sweden for an additional charge of +25%... that really hurts...

But they really should have a real-time stock indication system, it feels like webshop standard these days.

well, i ordered 2 dvds from laseredge, and i choose international airmail (not the adult special)

and they shipped the adult special... so I pay more for shipping and they use the adult special.

it going to be 4 weeks this monday, and i still haven't receive anything.

last time i chose the adult special, it took 3weeks.
I once took the global priority and took almost 2 weeks, which is really slow for $5 that i'm paying.
so this time, i decided to chose the intl airmail, and end up to be the same as the adult special. I talked to marc and he said they're both the same, so he said to pick adult special next time.

i wonder why is it so slow, do they ship by bicycle? I'm from canada, and i order lots of stuff from china, japan etc.. and it only takes 1 weeks to arrive

i will never order from them again, it is not worth it to wait so long just for a dvd, even if you pay for global priority, it takes almost two weeks and I'm not going to pay $20 for dhl service.

From what I can gather, they've changed their shipping method for the $1.99. An order which at the time I had been waiting just over 20 days for was only 9 business days in transit according to Marc. (Orders used to take around 15 days to the me in the UK.)

Glad to inform that I received my order of Outnumbered #3 from Lasersedge after a period of 30 days using Adult Shipping Special @ US$1.99.

This time it came WITHOUT dvd case as requested.

Lasersedge is quite good except on 2 occasions they sent me the dvds with cases (when I specifically requested them to discard the dvd cases).

Marc is very prompt is replying his emails and he has accomodated me quite a number of times when I keep on adding in some titles after confirming my order.

The best thing is the Adult Shipping Special rate of US$1.99 per order irrespective of the number of dvds ordered. There is NO guarantee of replacement of dvds if you select Adult Shipping Special but I took my chances and I am quite satisfied with it.

I have yet to try XAV Dream but their FREE Shipping is tempting.

But comparing prices of dvds between Lasersedge with Adult Shipping Special @ US$1.99 per order and XAV Dream with FREE shipping,

Lasersedge ends up cheaper.

I was tempted to change to XAV Dream because Lasersedge kept on sending me those bulky dvd cases despite my requests to them NOT to send those cases.

The most recent order, Outnumbered #3, came in a jiffy bag with just 2 discs & colour art. NO case this time, thank god.
