Don't know if it's of any interest to anyone but I placed an order with Lasersedge last Thursday (17/3) for 2 discs/global priority option/no cases ($5.00 cost) and I'm very pleased to say that the order arrived today (UK/4 days later including the weekend) with the discs/artwork in good condition. After having read Kperv's recent post and also one from Charlie last December I was a bit worried that the order was going to turn up in a jiffy bag (padded envelope) with scratched discs/crumpled covers etc.

However - certainly on this occasion - Lasersedge placed the 2 discs and artwork in a Global Priority Mail United States Postal Service cardboard envelope which afforded a good deal of protection to the enclosed discs and artwork. The discs themselves were placed in one of those paper disc covers which was then put with the artwork into the aforementioned envelope. From looking at the discs I can maybe see one or two very minor scratches but don't think that they'll affect playback of the discs at all.

I'm a very happy bunny on account of what I had been expecting/the quick delivery time.

It might be the case, however, that people who choose the $1.99 shipping option carry on getting the discs/artwork in a jiffy bag with the consequent possibilities resulting. However, if you want something from Lasersedge without the cases then I would recommend their Global Priority (no cases) option to you for the reasons mentioned above.

(Edit : Sorry - I've just noticed that the actual shipping cost was $6.00 . I think the way it works when you choose the Global Priority option with no cases is that you pay $5.00 for the first disc then $1.00 thereafter for each disc)

Thanks for sharing your experience.

I placed an order with Laser's Edge too last week for 5 discs.

I specified to Marc from Laser's Edge that I did NOT want the DVD casings; that the discs be sellotaped to the reverse side of the cardboard envelope, selected the US$1.99 adult shipping special & NOT to use the jiffy bag.

I am waiting for the order to be executed. Will update later.

I have tried ordering from Adult DV-depot & Movies-by-mail & both companies send discs in special DVD paper cases to avoid scratching. Both orders arrived safely in 2004.

Both in the same paper envelope, or one for each? Either way it's better than my previous experience with them.
I actually asked them in January, whether they put the discs in paper envelopes or not, and the answer was that they didn't.
Good to hear they've changed their ways. I might give them another chance if I need to.

Cheers on the successful experience, and thanks for the update. It's good to have alternative options.

@eokg: Do Movies-by-mail use the same thick cardboard sleeves DV-Depot used? That was really the best packaging I've seen.

Glad to hear your order went well, APA, but while this suggestion might seem rather anal-retentive, I am not keen on the above idea, unless they're label side to label side, because even a little dust between the discs can cause scratches if they've been squeezed into the sleeve. I prefer the plastic sleeves Adult DVD Today use with space for one disc on each side and would encourage Laser's Edge to use these too.

I cannot remember exactly but I am sure Movies-by-mail did NOT enclose the DVD printed materials (covers) whereas Adult DV-depot did.

I re-ordered 4 discs from Laser's Edge on Wednesday 23-3-2005, due to some credit card problem earlier. Received an email from Laser's Edge saying that those 4 discs have been shipped.

I will update when I receive the goods.

I've used this option (Global Priority, no cases, just artwork and disc) with Lasersedge to send to the UK a number of times. So far no problems for me.

Glad to report that the four DVD discs that I ordered arrived safely:

a) Jack's Playground #14
b) Jack's Teen America: Mission #1
c) Weapons of Ass Destruction #3
d) Lauren Phoenix: Phoenix Rising

It came in a cardboard box measuring 7.75 inches (Length) x 6 inches (Width) x 1.25 inches (Height). The DVD discs were individually slotted into a thin paper disc protection envelope. I was worried it might NOT have got thru customs. Luckily, it did.

I would have much preferred that the DVDs came in a flat plain brown or white envelope like an ordinary letter (like Adult DV-depot's method). Anything bulky may arouse Customs suspicions.

It had a Customs Declaration sticker stating "Magnetic Software Data Disc" commercial sample. Valued at US$10.00.
