I just learned about Lea de Mae's tragic condition today, and words can't express how sad I feel. It's always tragic when young people get afflicted with such a terrible illness. I've seen quite a few scenes with her over the years, and always liked her as a performer, too.
I'll make a donation right away tomorrow, and I ask everyone - everyone! - who reads this to do the same. Come on people! If you're a fan, and if you enjoyed Lea's work, here's a chance to show that you care for her as a person. There are so many people visiting these forums, if a lot of them donate only $20 each, it will go a long way cover Lea's treatment, and it could well save her life. I'm a student, I don't have much money, but I plan to donate a little more than that, even.
I wonder if you ever saw Frank Thring's movie with Silvia Saint, Daniella Rush, Lexington Steele, etc. "The Academy" - I thought that Lea De Mae never looked lovelier than in that movie in which Frank himself makes various appearances!
You may have read in one of Chris's updates from Prague (most are on here but the complete set of postings is at www.pics-and-models.com) that Lea was an Olympic High Diver for her country. As a hint of her past sporting activity, in "The Academy", Lea executes an elegant dive into the open-air swimming-pool in one sunny scene.
Looking at Chris's photos taken last year in Prague (on the day and just after Lea did her interview for inclusion into the "Private Life of Lea De Mae" Double Dvd), her natural and gentle beauty is apparent.
I think I like those photos more than any taken and note that in most of them Lea has all her clothes on!

Already during my update of Lea's page on Friday, something unpleasant was going on behind the scenes. I had to learn about it Friday evening.
I went to visit Lea like each day this week. But while entering the room I got aware of a black-haired man lying in "Lea's bed" instead of her. I asked one of the doctors for the reason of that. He explained that because of lack of capacities, they decided in the morning to transfer Lea De Mae back to the previous "old and ugly" hospital for further treatment.
Of course, there are other hospitals in Prague, but Lucie says that they all are about same with only slight differences. In the hopital in Motol, e.g., where Lea had to go for the MRI shortly before her first surgery last weekend, they let her wait on a hard surface and without a blanket, although Lea had severe pains. Lucie therefore was kind of fighting with the head physician and with the chief of the hospital in order to let Lea stay in the high standard clinic. She was even offering money. But all her attempts to keep Lea De Mae where she wanted to stay were in vain.
As right now we're not talking about a recidive treatment but about a regular long term follow up treatment (chemotherapy), a German hospital would not be the solution. Furthermore Lea De Mae of course wants to stay in Prague and close to her family and friends which we all have to respect. A high class private clinic with oncology dept. in Czech Republic would be fine for Lea De Mae. But according to Lea's current doctor there isn't any.

"Fighting two fires "
Already on Sunday I had the opportunity of talking to Lea's current (oncology) doctor who is responsible for her treatment after surgery. His intention to finish Lea's Temodal therapy and to proceed with CCNU has it's reason in the refusal of the insurance office to pay for Temodal again. Thanks to Lea's donors (list will be updated tomorrow), I was in the position to tell him that he should not consider money a problem! In this case, he answered, Lea's can be treated with Temodal again as soon as her constitution allows it. This tumor treatment is fire No.1
Fire No.2 is her back. As I mentioned earlier Lea broke her back 8 years ago when practising as high diver for Atlanta. These past pains came back after the end of her radio and chemotherapy more than two weeks ago - together with terrible headaches. While due to the surgeries last weekend the latter are now reduced to a "normal" level, the pains in her back still merely paralyse her completely. Therefore today a CT of Lea's back will finally be made. I'll take the results with me to Germany (Tuesday) and search for specialists for pain treatment and orthopaedists.
This is one of the problems of our medical structure of today: there are specialists for this and for that. But they rarely talk to each other and they are far away from working closely together. Thus, when a patient like Lea De Mae comes up with two different problems, one of it has to wait too long for being solved.
As of yesterday Lea De Mae's mother stays in the hospital all day and night.
Latest news: a guy known as 'Mikey', the producer of internet websites mikesapartment.com and many more, successfully asked the owner of Leademae.com for permission to use it. Thanks to him Lea's page now appears on your browser when you use URL www.leademae.com.

"Wrong highway - no exit? "
From insiders I heard that in former times the famous Military Hospital (where Lea's surgeries were done) had a death rate of about 80%. Under new management and with star operators like Dr. Benes it is now as low as 20%-30%. There are rumours that this success is NOT ONLY due to best equipment and treatments, but also to attempts to get rid of cases which doctors consider hopeless. If this is true, I hope that Lea gets healthy soon and gives the doctors some lessons.
I was told that the flow of information between the hospitals is very bad. Especially between the Military Hospital (which is different to the other clinics in many ways) and the "normal" clinics in Prague, there is almost no communication between the doctors.
By now I should be back in Germany, my job in the radio station waits for me. Thanks to my boss and my colleagues I could stay three days longer than the original maximum. I urged them to permit it because the situation in Prague gets more and more unpleasant to all of us.
In the old hospital which Lea De Mae had to return to, she could get what was not possible for her in the highly respected Military Hospital. A small private room which costs 800 Kc per day. Her family members rotate in regard of staying with her in the night. That's the good information.
Last Monday, the doctors wanted to make a CT of her back in order to find out if her back pains stem from the back or from the tumour. Lea De Mae, who didn't get morphine for the first time after many days reacted like crazy: she was beating the nurses and screaming and crying. In these moments, you can see how young and strong she is and how full of energy still. So the doctors decided to make the CT on Tuesday. Therefore, I stayed in Prague one more day.
Right before I went to the hospital in order to get the results, Lucie sent me an SMS: "Chris they are not going to do ct, they are saying that this is not problem with her back but the tumour cells going thru her moving system. That is why she cannot speak and having mental problem. They said they have to start with chemotherapy right away."
Again, I can't understand what's going on there!!! She has these back pains for about three weeks now. How come that all of a sudden the doctors know that the pains stem from tumour cells and not from her back? Why in the hell did they plan to make a CT of her back yesterday? And why do they want to start chemotherapy right away, since two days before, the chief doctor told me this would kill her, because her condition is too bad? We don't know what to do.
Here are some more confusing details: (1) According to Lucie there are about 5 different doctors who are responsible for Lea's treatment. Because of the move from her bed on the second floor down into her private room on the first floor she's now under control of the doctor of the first floor and no longer under control of the doctor of the second floor!!! (2) Lucie asked, if Lea still gets morphine. One of the doctors said "yes", another doctor said "no". I talked to a third doctor: she didn't know anything!
Unfortunately, the chief doctor was not there when I arrived in the hospital. Before I leave to Germany today I want to speak to him again. I fear we're driving on the wrong highway as of the beginning and I don't know where to leave it - I see no exit!

"Between panic and hope "
It's hard to keep up with all what happens. On the 24th finally I was able to speak to several of the responsible doctors. I felt relieved, when I heard that they finally decided NOT to do a chemotherapy right now, because German specialists told me that would kill her right away because of her weak constitution. The blood examination shows positive results. Regarding the type of treatment (when her constitution is better) the doctors uttered different opinions. One of them preferred BCNU, the other Temozolimid.
Additionally, they were now convinced that the pains in her back indeed stem from her former injuries and also from a congenital defect with incomplete closure of the vertebral column. They suspect the other symptoms (she can hardly speak, nor drink or eat anymore) being a result from new pressure in her brain. The chief of the departement told me that maybe Lea's shunt doesn't work properly. However, they wanted to wait with another CT until the symptoms would get worse. I urged him to do a new CT as early as possible and I was asking him for the current list of medication, in order to discuss them with German clinics.
These talks and waiting for the doctors took so much time that I decided to stay in Prague again for one more day.
According to Lucie who spent the night with Lea De May in the private room "She was not moving at all and she didn't react on anything. Today it is a same."
Now, what happened on the 25th? I was already sitting in my car in order to drive home, when I got aware of an SMS from Lucie: "Chris call me it is important!" So I called her back. She said that they indeed made a new CT in the old hospital and wanted to compare them with the latest CT results from the Military Hospital. But the Military Hospital didn't have these anymore! Fortunately I had a copy of those, went to the office of a friend of mine and sent her the pictures via eMail. Later the doctors in the old hospital were told by the doctors in the Military Hospital that the "problem with the shunt" was not really a problem, but that they simply must puncture Lea's Ommaya reservoir. In the old hospital they had never done it before. Lea's case was the first! However, it amazed all doctors (in the old hospital and in the Military Hospital) that Lea's production of spinal fluid was so fast that the pressure came back so quickly. Now we hope that Lea's health situation stabilizes, while we are discussing about the proper future chemotherapy.
Finally I received Lucie's "thank you" note. Unlike mentioned earlier, it is not the words of Lea but of Lucie, her sister. It is now about one month old, but Lea herself was already to weak to concentrate for a longer period of time, so she asked her sister to find the right words in her place. It's in Czech language, but I'm sure somebody will translate it for us.

Ma sestra (pro Vas Lea De Mae) po dlouhou dobu trpela velkymi bolestmi hlavy a byla lecena na zablokovanou krcni pater. Lekari ji predepisovali stale silnejsi a silnejsi prasky proti bolesti, ktere vubec nezabiraly. Doslo to tak daleko, ze se ji zacal zhorsovat zrak a zacala cim dal mene citit levou stranu tela.
Kdyz uz se vubec neudrzela na nohou a mela jiz nesnesitelne bolesti, tak ji teprve doktori poslali na CT vysetreni a nasli ji nador na mozku. Situace byla jiz tak vazna, ze ji muesli ihned operovat. Operace byla provenedena profesorem Benesem ve Stresovicke nemocnici v Praze, ktery provedl neuveritelne zdareny vykon. Podarilo se mu odstranit vse krome maleho kousku, ktery byl jiz prorostly do mozkove tkane a jeho vyjmutim by byly ohrozeny zivotni funkce. Par dni po operaci byla castecne ochrnuta na levou stranu tela, ale jeji stav se stale zlepsoval jak po psychicke tak po fyzicke strance. Meli jsme velikou radost z jejiho rychleho uzdravovani a doufali jsme , ze to nejhorsi jiz ma za sebou. A pak prisel ten SOK! Histologicky nalez ukazal, ze nador co ma je ten nejhorsi typ zhoubneho nadoru, ktery muze byt. S touto zpravou se jeji zdravotni stav rapidne zhorsil a zacala mit stejne priznaky jako pred operaci. Hned zacala podstupovat radioterapii a po dvou tydnech s problemy s pojistovnou i chemoterapii.
Ted vsichni cekame, na to jak nador zareaguje a snazime se najit v pripade potreby alternativni lecbu, ktera by zachranila nebo alespon prodlouzila jeji zivot.
Omlouvam se Vam,ze s Vami nemohu byt kazdy den v kontaktu a informovat Vas o jejim zdravotnim stavu, ale v tuto tezkou chvili venuji vsechen cas sve setre a slibuji Vam, ze pokud nastanou nejake zmeny, tak Vam dam ihned vedet.

Thanks to Andy in Prague we have now an English version of Lucie's "thank you note" of October 2004.
How is Lea De Mae today? Lucie describes it like this: "I don't know what to think about my sister's condition. She is out of her mind, she calls people different names, she sees something that we don't. I hope that it is just temporary. She is eating and drinking again, that is good. But, she is also again in big pain."
We anxiously wait for Lea's constitution to become better, so that she can benefit from a further therapy. There are 3 possible up-to-date standard chemo treatments: ACNU/VM26, Temozolomid and BCNU (CCNU).
Thanks to Victor we know that the Samantha Dickson Research Trust in England offers clinical trials, in which the effect of Clomipramine is examined. But, for the first official results, we still have to wait 2-3 years.
Thank you so much for your faithful and loyal help to poor Lea De Mae still suffering pain and confusion in Prague. Hopefully, the latter is a temporary condition only as normally with medications, you often expect to get this for elderly or weak patients. Sometimes, people revert to their mother tongue even though they have been speaking English for decades or do not recognise everyone as usual, etc.
I know that you have had to give up attending work and I expect been involved in extra expenses staying nearby Lea to help her with all the added doctors' procedures and changed hospitals, etc. For our part (as donors of $1,000 etc.), I am happy for some of this to be paid to meet your emergency expenses, as without you there helping and co-ordinating everything, goodness knows what would have happened by now. It seems you have had to become a consultant yourself!
I am surprised that doctors are allowed to withhold treatment merely because of insurance payment considerations? In this country, this would be subject to High Court action, as it is tantamount to wilfully letting someone die, it seems to me.
Fortunately, because of Oldrich Widman's foresight, we are not in this position, but God help anyone over there who cannot pay when the chips are down! Maybe I'm wrong, but we can return to this topic another time.

I am sure that I speak on behalf of all Lea's well-wishers to say that Lea could not have a better friend helping her and Lucie in these very difficult times.

I have just received a message from Chris saying that of course everything he does is because of his heartfelt support and admiration for Lea and that he would not dream of accepting any kind of expenses payment, etc. Chris said he always remembers Lea's kindness that she would not charge him any photographic model fees when he shot the lovely non-nude pics last year.

To all of you who are carrying Lea in your hearts
First of all, I would like to thank you very much on behalf of Lea and myself for your help!
Every day, I read your messages and best wishes to Lea and I can say that what I see in her eyes is the indescribable words of thanks and even a far more craving and strength to fight for her life. And for this, we owe all of you.
For those of you who would like to know the whole process of her serious illness, I dare to write this short account.
My sister (Lea De Mae, to you) had suffered from big headaches for a long time and therefore she was treated for the blockage of her neck-spinal. The doctors treated her by prescribing mostly analgesics. They prescribed stronger and stronger analgesics but without any effect. This poor situation reached the point where Lea started to suffer from bad vision (her eyes became bad) and she also started to barely feel the left side of her body.
When the pain was completely unbearable and she couldn’t stand any more on her own legs, the doctors sent her for a CT (Computer Tomography) examination - which revealed a brain tumour. The situation was seriously bad so Lea had to immediately undergo surgery.
The entire operation was performed by famous Professor Dr. Benes in the Military Hospital in Stresovice in Prague. Dr. Benes has carried out an unbelievably successful and clear operation. He succeded in removing all of the tumour except for one small piece which had already infiltrated into the brain, because by removing this small piece, it would have caused great danger to main vital and health functions.
A few days after operation, Lea was partially paralyzed on her left side, but after that, her condition started to improve and Lea was feeling better and better on both physical and psychological sides. As Lea was convalescing fast, we were lucky and enjoyed this.
And then, the shock came! The histological examination of the removed tumour revealed the worst form of brain cancer that can exist. Accordingly, with this bad news Lea's condition went again down with the same symptoms before the surgery. Lea immediately underwent radiotherapy and after a 2 weeks problem with the insurance company, also chemotherapy.
Now, we are awaiting to see how the tumour will respond to this therapy and we are trying to find, in case of need, any alternative treatment, which will save her life or at least make it longer.
I apologize that I cannot be in touch with you every day and inform you about Lea’s current situation, but at this time, I devote all the time to my sister and I promise that if any change will occur, I will inform you.
Finally, I would like to give a big special thanks to Chris Danneffel, Monica Sweetheart and Oldrich Widman; they are all great standbys for my sister and all my family.
Whatever the future holds for this dear and sweet soul, it will have been made more bearable for Lea and Lucie, Oldrich, Chris and others close to Lea to know of the outpouring of support and affection for this lovely and radiant star - our own kindly, beautiful and brave Lea De Mae.
Sweet and Lovely, Sweeter than the roses in May, Sweet and Lovely, Heaven must have sent her our way.
You kindly enquired about Lea De Mae's condition. Unfortunately, Lea is still very ill. We get news from Chris Danneffel regularly and he is a wonderful friend to Lea and Lucie. You could not ask for better.
If you check earlier, you will see Lucie's message (written in October this year) and this was awaiting translation and English-checking, etc. but then several crisis conditions arose and Lea had to have two more operations to relieve fluid pressure on the brain and was also moved between hospitals.
We live from day to day, but in hope.

News like this is always incredibly sad and shocking but even more so when the victim is someone as young as Lea. She is truly a beautiful woman and hopefully will have many more decades of full, happy living ahead of her. I have made a contribution to her medical fund and only mention that in the hopes it might encourage others to do so as well. I wish I could have somehow contributed more or done more, but if anyone reading this feels like any contribution they could make would go for naught I would encourage them to rethink that and realize that any little bit will help. I have been and will always remain a fan of Lea's, but this goes way beyond that and touches everyone as we are all human and have all probably been affected and effected in some way by cancer either directly or indirectly (and even if we have been lucky enough not to have been, we may be in the future). Apologies for the lengthy post (especially having said that there are no words...but you know what I meant). God bless Lea and her family and loved ones. Wolf

Below, you will see the gracious words of Axel Braun addressed to ADT members taken from his posting of 28th April 2003 made on here at the time fans were preparing to make a presentation to Daniella Rush following the car accident which ended her successful movie-making career in the summer of the preceding year and fortunately later, Daniella received substantial compensation, although of course nothing can make up for the loss of mobility and hopefully Daniella's condition can improve due to her cheerful and ever-trying attitude (as Oldrich Widman related recently).
"Your generosity and your determination to help is admirable, and should serve as a lesson to all the people who denigrate our business. Forgive me if I speak for Daniela, but what you're doing is absolutely beautiful, and I truly want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart."
I would like to apply those words again to those supporting Daniella's friend and often co-star, Lea De Mae in her even greater hour of need.
I think everyone wishes they could do more - but you are right everything helps. those who care enough to help are not only helping financially, but i believe sending a great deal of positive energy to Lea and family, and to the close supporters. this energy is powerful enough to do anything, i believe.
Please help to make this coming Xmas Season and Birthday (26th December) happier for Lea De Mae (Andrea) who is very seriously ill, as you have seen.
We cannot send flowers to the hospital (risk of infection) but please send Lea lots of "Seasons Greeting" cards and Birthday Cards for the 26th or letters.
Obviously, it is not easy to say "Have a Very Merry Xmas and a Wonderful Birthday", when poor Lea is stricken down like this - but at least letters and suitable cards can be sent to this lovely young lady as a reminder of the great affection we hold for her.

The family may have been the ones that oked him giving out the address. And if they didn't, then it should lie on his head. This thread isn't about what's right or wrong to post. It's about a poor girl who has a terminal illness and you're sitting around caring that her address was given out. Come on guys! I plan on sending a X-mas/Birthday card as soon as possible. I don't know who Lea is because I'm so new to the industry, but in a situation like hers, it's so sad. My best wishes to Lea and her family & friends. God Bless.

Miracles happen, but sometimes one has to make them happen
In the life of every one of us there are moments when we wish there was a clearly two-coloured world of good and evil, in which magic or miracles could intervene in favour of the good.
Unfortunately, this is just a wish and reflection of nice moments left in our mind by people who loved us and directed us in childhood through fairy tales to be able to appreciate the scarcity of the good and separate it from the evil that is detrimental to everybody.
However, the world and the lives of people at present are directed in many aspects rather at the forces of darkness and evil for unknown reasons than the other way around. Moreover, the fate distributes the measures of luck, pain and love pursuant to a peculiar key, which we have got used to call chance.
Therefore, it is up to us, people, whether we manage to rush to help selflessly through quite a real power without any assistance of magic to those to whom the chance has sent down nothing but misfortune and pain, without the ones concerned deserving it in whatever manner.
Our good friend Lea DeMae (Andrea Absolonova) is one of such people.
And since the saying “thousand times little can become plenty” is quite true, our agency has decided to take part in the battle against evil, which has befell an innocent young person, and we would like to win you for this cause as well.
On behalf of our agency and, at the same time, on behalf of the family of Lea DeMae we would like to appeal to you, dear friends, colleagues and trading partners, with an urgent request for help.
As you may have already heard, Lea suffers from a very serious illness that cannot be cured in the Czech Republic. The only chance there is for her is to undergo a treatment abroad, either in the USA, Germany or Sweden, as soon as possible. I understand that Oldrich and Lucie's joint appeal was sent to almost every studio and performer known to Oldrich's office and many people have been responding. I first found out about this from a posting by Juhani in Canada on Silvia Saint's Forum and ever since that evening, I have been doing my best to raise awareness and funds for Lea and I have publicly thanked all those who kindly responded to my requests for help and who provided further introductions. There are many postings on various Web Sites to this effect, including on here.
You will note that Lea (Andrea) is the named beneficiary and the address is stated there in Oldrich Widman's Notice, which has been posted up on various European/American Sites and agencies.
The contact address was given on here on 9th November 2004 in this very topic in one of my earlier posts.
Oldrich Widman and Chris Danneffel, Silvia Saint have personally corresponded or spoken to me (Oldrich in person twice recently in London when we met for supper in Soho in the west end of London on the Friday 19th November 2004 he flew into London and again on the Sunday night 21st November, before he returned home to Prague on the Monday).
You'll remember there was an "Erotica Show" on in London at the Olympia Exhibition Hall at the time. Monica Sweetheart (Lea's best friend) was also here in London for 4 days and sent greetings via Oldrich.
I have sent Oldrich all of the topic postings from several sites (including ADT) and he even kindly printed many out from the CSS ones to give to Lea. Andy in the Czech Republic also kindly sent a whole bundle from CSS to Lea's sister (Lucie) for me in colour prints.
If Oldrich, Lucie or Chris had asked me, I would of course delete all this. Fans and well-wishers have been sending cards, letters and donations to this address for some time now. I myself raised $1,000 to send there by registered letterpost the day after I found out about Lea's illness.

I have copied all the above postings specially to Oldrich Widman (Lea's Manager and Friend, also Silvia Saint's Projects Agent and former Management Company) and Chris Danneffel (Lea and Lucie's photographer friend, presently back in Germany but returning soon to Prague) who has been at Lea's side through many very fraught weeks at the two Czech Hospitals and working through the night transmitting and seeking medical information to help improve Lea's situation, as we have even been doing today in touch with the leading British Research Funders (Samantha Dickson Research Trust) re. Brain Tumours who informed us that one gentleman with Lea's severe illness has been getting good results from a certain available medication during the last 4 years. I have sent them all the comments on this page of the topic in case they wish to add anything.

very very very sad to seeing an important topic destroyed by blokes suffering from nothing else than egomania. That telling me more about self-proclaimed "adult insiders" than anything else!
I wish I'd have better informations to give you about Lea De Mae's current health status. I've been talking to her doctors today. They said that Lea is still only lying in her bed. Communicating with her is almost impossible. She still is in big pain (her back and her neck aches) although she again gets morphine in combination with other "pain killers".
Within the past few days nothing has changed, but I'm extremely worried because the doctors also told me that Lea has fever now (38°C)! Under these circumstances, the doctors can't do anything at all but wait.
A British specialist in Liverpool has let me know that clomipramine (see "Anxiously waiting") shows good effects in cell cultures. But up to now there's no evidence for a good effect in patients with an aggressive brain tumor.
Note of message from The Samantha Dickson Research Trust, UK. today:
Angela Dickson, the founder of the Trust, did report today that a gentleman in England who has the same brain tumour grade as Lea has survived for 4 years whilst he has been taking "Clomipramine" in addition to normal treatment. I have sent this info on to Chris for possible consideration by Lea's medical team.
Angela felt that there was nothing to lose by trying this as an adjunct to the chemotherapy. Angela explained that the drug has been on the market for 20 years for another medical use (anti-depressant).
Despite the recent setback in Lea's condition, i am happy to say that donations are still coming. I am sure that the help for Lea's family is greatly appreciated, and they are surely welcoming any donations.
I just got the sad news that Lea died today All my condulences to her family and friends. I don't know what else to say. Very sad day. Please never forget this beautiful and friendly young girl!
