Just seeing if anyone here might can answer this question. Last I heard it was illegal to shoot porn in Thailand. But lets suppose "hypothetically" that I could get my hands on some content that was shot in Thailand and wanted to try and profit from it. Could I legally sell this footage (that was technically shot illegally) in other parts of the world, even if I blatantly advertise that it was shot in Thailand?
Its only illegal if your caught or filming content that is also illegal in other countries. In the US its not like California where there is actual case law saying that you are legally allowed to produce adult materials but if the issue was pushed i am sure that the case law in Cali would be upheld in other states as well. As long as your content is legal your fine no matter where you shot it.
Best piece of advice? Don't even fuck around with Thailand. Why bother? If you're caught making porn over there, you'll damn sure wish you hadn't unless you just have plenty of money to blow.
Just to make it clear... I have no intention of ever shooting anything in Thailand. The question was, if someone else shot some stuff in Thailand and got away with it... if I were to publish/sell their content, would I be breaking any laws by doing so?
I wasn't expecting to get expert legal advice here. I just wanted to know if anyone here could answer the question. If you don't want to answer, then don't.

OK. I'm not in the business so I can't answer your specific question with any real hard facts. However, I have heard stories of people who got caught shooting porn over there. The justice system in that country seems to be corrupt and basically, if they catch you breaking their laws, it's anybody's best guess what will happen to you. Since you say you aren't shooting porn over there, you would, I guess, be exempt from that particular pitfall. However, it is more likely if you get involved with people who are doing it or who have that you will be dealing with criminals (Or, at least, they would be considered to be criminals to the government of Thailand). How would you verify the age of the participants of the videos if you were asked to do so? I think it would be imprudent to even get involved with it in any way, shape or form. There are enough places in the world where you can shoot porn legally and have the records to prove the ages of the participants should it become necessary. I'm sure there are some lawyers on this board and they would probably be able to give you a better answer but my gut tells me this is not a good area to get involved in. Don't assume that I'm only asking the question in this forum, or that I would act on this without 1st talking with a qualified attorney. Thanks for an intelligent response bro. Everything with the videos would be done legally, and fully verified with proper documentation, etc. The only variable would be that it would be filmed in a location where it was illegal to do so.
Could Thailand's government demand that the U.S. Federal Government catch and extradict such a person? My guess is that they'd never find out and the U.S. government has bigger fish to fry. However... what makes this footage so darn special? Unless it's the best damn porn in the universe, I'd say don't risk it.
The bigger issue is the content 2257 compliant ? Are the model releases in the proper language ? Are the 2257 docs in the proper language ? Did the primary producer examine the IDs and sign the 2257 doc under the penalty of perjury ? Was the primary producer a US or foreign company ??? There are many questions you would have to get over before you could even think about selling the content. Its not an issue of whether content is legal to shoot in Thailand, its whether you have proper rights in the video to sell it and whether its 2257 complaint, unless you are a foreign national and plan to sell it overseas.
