Hey, I have probably discussed this topic before.
I know it's been a gripe of mine for a couple of years. But I am really getting fed up how girl/girl scenes are shot. In particularly, the way Girlfriends Films shoots their output.
I have been buying GFs films for about six years. I love their movies. Or at least I used to love their movies. At one time, the sex reigned surpreme. Now, some of their scenes are so soft core, it's like I am thinking I am wasting my hard earned money.
Don't get me wrong. The women are still sexy, hot, steamin'. I have no problem with them at all. It's the directors and the camera guys who are forever shooting chicks making out from the side view.
Where have all the lovely close up oral shots gone? GF Films used to be famed for them. Now, you'd be half pushed to get a few seconds of a close up.
I was particularly annoyed with their July releases, Road Queen 19 and Net Skirts 7. A great cast as usual, but boy, the directors and the camera operators suck. All the scenes are shot badly. For a start, why is the camera guy showing me a back of a head, and a side view, or a POV, when a chick is eating another chick out? Why these constant side views?? It's like asking for gold bars asking him for a decent close up oral. Like, what is this soft coft sh**?
When two chicks are making out he should make it his priority to shoot the oral. Okay give an occasional side view shot. But the core of the action is where it's happening. Are these directors dumb?
It's like in a straight scene and a chick is giving a BJ, who wants to see the back of her head?? Or anal with no anal close up?
I have most of the GFs movies in my collection, all bought with my hard earned money. The classics I could watch time and time again. This latest stuff is throwaway.
Sweetheart Films are starting to do the same. Any other fans agree with me? Thanks.

You make excellent points.
For me the issue is more that it feels like every scene follows the same cadence and there is little if any variety in them. Girlfriends Films puts out a ton of content and for that they should be roundly applauded, but maybe a little less should be put out and more focus should be put on providing some real variety to the scenes.
The best part of these films is the casting of girls who honestly like girls so why not just let them go at each other and follow along with the cameras, allowing them to set the pace, instead of following the formal of A then B then C then D etc.

I have been saying the same thing for at least the last year, it looks like they are shooting softcore, I think they are hoping to get their stuff released on cinemax, so they shoot their scenes so they can be quickly edited, I had to stop buying their stuff, it has become a waste of money and time for me

@Xioniet
GF offer realistic orgasmic lesbian sex. If you start asking the performers to adopt unnatural positions, with air guitar pussy licking and interference from the camera man to get close-up shots, you are going to lose all the heat.
I don't find close-ups in g/g or g/b erotic. Far worse is the detrimental effect it has on the performances. You try fucking with a camera man up your ass, or a director positioning you this way and that way for a close-up or photo shot for the back-cover.
You can't have it both ways. If you want passionate sex, the camera has to take a back seat. If you want an anatomy lesson, then accept the fake and sterile sex the industry traditionally produces.
Hardcore to me is couples having real sex, not seeing uglies bumping. Nothing softcore about Girlfriends Films IMO, quite the opposite.

I believe Xioniet stated that Girlfriends Films used to have regular closeups AND passion, but it has morphed into softcore.
Jfarley, are you saying that you think Girlfriend Films was NOT erotic in the beginning but now is MORE erotic because the sex is so vague that it's possible no sex is actually being performed?

The camera work should not interfere with the sex, I will never watch a pov video, but in girlfriend films, there have been too many instances whey
completely ignored the sex, they worst for me was the India Summer Syd Blackovich scene in road queen, towards the end of the scene when it got hot, hard and heavy, and they aimed the camera at India's leg

THe first couple times I noticed it I thought it was just lazy camera work, 6 or 7 films later I realized they were doing it on purpose

I'm a heterosexual male and have zero interest in seeing Girl/Girl action. I understand if others like it, we all have our preferences. What irritates me to no end is I view a straight title and constantly have to come upon Girl/Girl action which is an utter waste to me, I hit the skip button. It has zero erotic feel to it when females are messing with females.
Not all Guys have an interest in seeing girls playing with girls or using toys on each other. In fact I bet most straight guys and straight girls are bored by it.
I wish the studios would cut out putting so much girl on girl action on straight titles.
Keep this stuff on the category of "ALL Girl" and I have no problem with it. Mixing it with Boy/Girl scenes is a total waste to the viewers who do not have an interest in seeing Girls playing with Girls.

Why did you come into a Lesbian movie thread to talk about how much you dislike lesbian movies. This thread isn't about general lesbian sex.
I love GF scene. They are the only G/G scenes I watch. But I dont watch enough to notice what the TS is saying.

I love soft kissing and touching and GFF is great at that, but I'd also like a little harder kissing from time to time, too. Maybe like Kissmegirl without the drooling and like some of Sweetheart's Girls kissing Girls stuff.
I usually just skip the silly storylines, but from what I hear, basically every one is one chick being blackmailed by the other into having sex. Not really a big fan of that. I did see a scene with Tiffany Tyler and Sara Stone which was actually fun and playful leading up to the sex, they need more of that.

I agree with Peoples Temple from the opposite side. Many videos are one great lez scene between a bunch of guys jacking off on faces.

Not only do I prefer scenes to be mostly shot from a bit of a distance and for the scenes to involve a lot of "softcore" stuff like kissing, I wish more b/g scenes would be shot like that. And I think we're seeing a move towards that with stuff like New Sensations Romance, Sweet Sinner and others.
Scenes shot from more of a distance are better for two reasons:
1) We can enjoy more of the bodies we enjoy
2) Cameras are much less intrusive and thus give the performers a chance to be in more natural positions and kind of forget about the camera a little. Ya can't do that when a cameraman is right on top of you!

I've reviewed a bunch of GFF releases on this site over the bast several years and the MO is always the same. They tell you up front what you're getting with them so you shouldn't be suprised. As I've said in the reviews, it's not Buttslammers. I love the Mother-Daughter Exhange Club series.

I own many of GF mvies and I find that their older stuff was significantly better than most of what they release now. They still have the amazing scene or two but rarely on the same dvd. The lead in to their sex scenes was better in past GF releases and the chemistry between the girls was much better. Far too often the girls really don't look like they are into lesbianism which kind of sucks since they re playing lesbians on screen. Another thing that I've noticed in recent movies is that the passionate kissing is gone. Mind you since the girls aren't into lesbian sex than it makes sense that they wouldn't want to kiss another girl.
It's been over 2 months since I bought a GF dvd and based on what I've seen it could be while before I buy anymore.

While I haven't seen the two movies you're directly referring to Xioniet, I do tend to watch quite a few GFF movies and I don't have to much to complain about actually. The main 'problem' with their movies is generally that they're all too similar to one another, but in terms of how they're shot - I have no problem there.
I like a mixture of wide shots with close-ups and when you make g/g scenes, I think it's one of the greatest things you can do. In b/g, presumably, you can have awkward shots where too much of the boy is the focus of the shot, but in g/g, really you can't make a mistake. All of your shots are going to be pretty good, so I don't think they should have SO many close ups, but explore the 'field' more and more.
But everyone has their own opinion and in mine, they're not doing too bad. I don't like the Road Queen series and Net Skirts I only tend to look at if I like the cast - But I thought that Strays was awesome and one of the best movies of 2011.

I tend to agree with Xioniet on G/G films! Another company is Sweetheart Video's G/G scenes, if you've seen one you've seen them all. Nothing new is ever introduced! Sometimes there scenes are pretty much to 2 pornstar's just rubbing each other the whole scene. Nobody goes in for the goods! Seems like a bad B/G scene beats a good G/G scene hands down these days! Somebody must like them!
