One of my biggest regrets in life was having a circumcision done around the age of 17 (I'm 47 now). The only reason that I had it done was because of a book I had read by a medical doctor who claimed that cancer of the penis occurred only in uncircumcised men. Looking back now, I would guess that the doctor's claim was not true, but I was just a teenager at the time and accepted it as a fact. And so my motivation to be circumcised was created.

It was very embarrassing, but I persuaded my Mom to pay for the operation (my parents divorced when I was 12 and I didn't have a father or step-father to go to at that time).
I had the operation--and regretted it ever since. Why?

Here's where the story relates directly to your original question. I had begun masturbating only about a year prior to being circumcised (yes, I know I started very late compared to most boys). So, I am in a position to judge how a circumcision affects masturbation. (I was still a virgin at the time of my circumcision, so I can't compare how it affects sexual intercourse, but I can sure speculate.)

Now before I say this, keep in mind that I'm not speaking for anyone but myself. I wouldn't be too quick to make any generalizations based on my following comments. I'm expressing *my* truth, not necessarily someone else's. Here it is: Post -circumcision, the quality of my orgasms when I masturbated was significantly less intense and pleasurable. This doesn't mean that my post-circumcision orgasms aren't damn pleasurable, because they are. But they simply aren't AS pleasurable as they were pre-circumcision.

Why would this be? The primary reason is that the head of the penis without the foreskin becomes considerably less sensitive. Oh, it's still sensitive, mind you, just not AS sensitive.

Another reason that I regret having the circumcision is this: a circumcision makes your penis look smaller than it would look if it hadn't been circumcised. Careful. I'm not talking about the size of your penis compared to some other guy's penis. I'm talking about if you were to compare your own penis pre-circumcision versus post-circumcision, it will look larger pre -circumcision. BTW, if a porn stud has a huge circumcised penis, then you know that is one well-endowed dude. Because it would look even larger with the foreskin in place!

Still another reason that I miss my foreskin is that I found it slightly easier to manipulate my penis while masturbating than I do sans the foreskin. It's kind of difficult to fully explain what I mean here. So just take this observation at face value.

If I could go back in time, I would not have had the circumcision. Instead, I would have had an operation that would have kept my foreskin intact, but allowed the foreskin to be pulled back easily. As it was at the time, I was not physically able to pull my foreskin back to fully expose the head of my penis. This was my secondary motivation for the circumcision.

However, there is one *possible* benefit to my having being circumcised. With the head less sensitive, once I started having sexual intercourse, premature ejaculation was NEVER a problem. I could last for as long as the woman wanted me to without effort. But perhaps premature ejaculation never would have been a problem for me anyway. On the negative side, though, I would speculate that the quality of my orgasms during sexual intercourse is a mere shadow of the quality of orgasms I would be experiencing if I had never been circumcised.

One last thing. I never had children. But if I had had a son, there is NO WAY that I would have allowed him to be circumcised. Plus, once he became old enough, I would have carefully and tactfully explained why he should avoid ever getting a circumcision for himself or for any sons he might have in the future. Yes, I'm aware of all the so-called "good reasons" in favor of circumcision. Take it from someone who knows: the "good reasons" are pure bullshit.

I personally hope that circumcision goes the way of foot-binding, and becomes a historical curiosity. Really, it's usually done as cosmetic surgery to flatter a circumcised dad by having the son resemble the father. Or for some people, a cleanliness issue (remove body parts so you don't have to clean yourself?).

For vanity or 'cleaniliness' to make this choice for a voiceless child, risking some loss of some percentage of his sexual response... I don't get it.

You revelations are kinda what i was expecting. It was my original understanding that the glans (bell-end) of the penis does lose sensitivity, when it has been circumcised, and this will obviously be noticeable to those young men who previously had a foreskin up to their late teens before being circumcised.

Interesting to hear you state that your orgasms are now a mere shadow of the quality of orgasm that you would be experiencing if you hadn't been circumcised.
