Today, I selected the "Lex the Impaler 2" disc in my DVD mega-changer. I immediately had problems with it that I don't remember previously having.

First, the main menu didn't load automatically, I just got a black screen. Hitting the menu button got me to the main menu. I wanted to watch the Monica Sweetheart scene, but when I went to that chapter, I had the blocking & freezing problems that EA had with Flesh Hunter 2.

Subesquently, I went through the entire disc and found that the problem starts early in the August scene. On 2 of my DVD players (Pioneer mega changer & Sampo), the problem starts in the first chapter of the August scene. In another player, (a second Pioneer mega-changer) it starts in the 3rd chapter of the August scene.

On a 4th player (Panasonic) the disc plays fine. What's strange about this is that FH4 had problems with the Panasonic, but worked fine in the Pioneers.

I've tried cleaning the disc to no avail (the disc has been inside the mega changer for more than a year, and it looks spotless, so I don't think it's dirt).

In searching ADT, I couldn't find anyone else reporting problems with this disc (but my search criteria may have sucked). Is (or has) anyone having (or had) similar problems with this DVD?

Funny you should say that, because the other day i put in Flesh Hunter 2 and it was freezing in the Jeanie Rivers scene. I know this problem has been noted countless times but the thing is I've had it for a while and since new its been perfect. Its only now the problem has started to occur.

My Impaler 2 is/has been fine (touch wood).

But i thought that about my copy of FH2. Back then whilst everyone else was complaining about the problem, i was sitting back thinking of England. Its only now its started playing up! DOH!

I missed that post. As far as I know, it worked fine in my F727 too (until today). If it was just the August scene, it wouldn't be so bad. But the problem continues to the end of the disc (which includes the Monica Sweetheart scene).

Bill,

I've had similar problems with Lex 2. I've mentioned it on this forum in the past. Spotless new disc (no dirt issues)...freezes big time during early/middle of August's scene and beginning of Monica's scene.

I've had it play perfectly on my computer's dvd player, but the problems happen with my PS2.

It's a shame because Lex 2 is one of my favorite dvds!

It's almost painful to mention this- because 1. Tricia D. has been so extremely helpful to so many in going out of her way to help those who've had playability problems with EA discs and 2. Evil Angel content is so much better than anything else out there- but I've become extremely gunshy on buying Evil Angel titles because of some of the aforementioned problems with them.

It also bothers me because I have quite a few Kick Ass, Red Light District, Anabolic/Diabolic, and West Coast titles and have experienced no problems whatsoever...

As far as Evil Angel Discs- I've had skipping, freezing, 'unable to play' problems with the following titles:

Flesh Hunter 2- halfway through the Jeannie Rivers scene continuing through the Alexa Rae scene.

Flesh Hunter 3- halfway through the Austin O'rielly scene continuing through the Gauge scene.

Once You Go Black... (vol. 1)- halfway through the Alexa Rae scene continuing through (I believe) the Melanie Jagger scene.

The DVD players I've given them all a spin in, with the same results, are a Playstation 2(which is forgiveable,) a Sony Dream Theatre System, a Samsung, and a friend's Panasonic.

Although I've heard that a disc that plays fine at first only to become tempermental later might be alleviated by simply cleaning the disc with a cotton ball and rubbing alcohol, the problems I've had popped up during first viewing and never cleared up no matter how many times it was cleaned or exchanged.

Email me.
I'll send you the shipping address to get a new copy from a new batch (different replicator).

Yeah I can't get Lex The Impaler 2 to play in my PS2 DVD player either. Email me that shipping address because I was pissed when it wouldn't play.

PornBoy - I did get your email, but so everyone can see my response about PlayStation 2 consoles, Evil Angel cannot be responsible for discs that will work in settop players but not PS2, because PS2 had a firmware problem awhile back.

They have since fixed their problem. It seems like our replicator mistake plus the PS2 mistake together multiplied the problem enough that some discs wouldn't play on a PlayStation2, but the discs themselves are fine on other players.
