i think light and dark skin black women are in the same spot. cassdy clay is light and beautiful but she hasnt blown up on the white side yet or anything. You have to be just white to get really big.

Yes. As it is in life, fairer-skinned blacks get slightly better treatment than darker ones. Whites seem less "threatened" by them. Also, white guys who don't normally go for black women always make exceptions by pointing out some lighter skinned black girl they would fuck. Take Adrennalynn for example. Even though she tries to play it down, she is black. However, her skin was light enough for Digital Playground to take a chance and give her a contract. Marie Luv is just as hot, and much more deserving. But because she is undeniably black, major studios won't give her the time of day as far as long term contracts go. Note also how Lacey Duvalle is an easy cross-over favorite. Sure, she is hot and that is always a draw. But her fair skin brings in more white fans than a darker-toned girl would. It is all about what one buys into. Hispanics have an easier time being cast with white actresses (translation: better paying flicks) because they are generally fair skinned, and more therefore more along the lines of some filmmaker racial aesthetics sensibilities. Or it least that is how I see it. However, it is interesting that the two most successful black porn actresses -- Jada Fire and Marie Luv -- are not fair-skinned sisters. I think their work ethic and shrewdness are what makes them successful. Another increasingly successful black porn actress is Nyomi Banxxx, who is on the darker beauty side of complexion. Veteran porn star Monique is also a dark sister, and she never seemed to be in want for porn work. It is therefore a falsity that a sister must be a fair-skinned sister to be successful enough to be cast in diverse porn films. I am beginning to become convinced that success in porn is dictated by the degree of professional work ethic in performance and self-promotion.
For me it's all about body type and a woman's face. Misty Stone is incredible, but so was/is India or for that matter Kiwi. Skin shade doesn't matter, imo, if you're hot.
Don't forget hotties from the past, like Jeannie Pepper, Ebony Ayes, and Angel Kelly, as they were among the best of the best, White, Latin, Black, Asian, or any other shade of the human race.

I think alot has to do with promoting. If the studios are not promoting the sistas with sexiness and classy box covers for example, we the fans do not have our eyes looking at them then. Unless for example I am looking for a specific title or series that I have read from the forums and want to check out, then I will try to search it out. I also think that with the huge turnover rate of women in the industry these days, that plays a big part on who is popular. Marie Luv and Jada Fire have solid fan bases, have been in the business a long time so they built up thier fan bases.
Um, I dunno what this thread is all about, but you are finer than a muhfucka. Just keep doing what you're doing. That light v. dark shit has been around forever and ain't going away anytime soon. You're the best new girl I've seen in a minute.
She is VERY attractive, indeed her looks are in a class with my all-time faves, Jeannie Pepper, Ebony Ayes, Angel Kelly, etcetera. Stick it out, Aryanna and you, too, could be a legend/Hall of Famer.
Mocha and Chocolate seemed to cross over pretty well in the late 90s and early 90s and they're pretty dark. Monique won't go away either...she's dark (and ugly IMHO) but she's an outstanding performer. Jada Fire is pretty dark and has had a lot of success because of her performances. My favourite darker skinned actress was Kiwi - she had outstanding potential but wasn't in the biz for that long.
I'm kinda confused are we talking about light skinned black women, or light skinned like white women. The reason why I ask, bc I don't think it's any difference in the porn world. If your black, your black.. no matter how light skinned or dark skinned you are.
All you have to do is look at the history of porn. If you notice,some of the light skin black females have been contract girls expecially by vivid. Heather Hunter, Tiffany Mason, one girl from England her name exscapes me at the moment.Also, light skin black females seem to get more work than darker skin. Aryana welcome to the board, but I have to tell you all of these subjects have been brought up before and fallen on death ears as far as the porn community is concern.
I think many people tend to view lighter skin black people as more atractive but as far as the world of porn goes I don't think skin tone ranks that high on the ability to get noticed or get work with the "high end" studios/directors. Overall beauty trumps skin tone in porn. If a girl is pretty it doesn't really matter if she's darker skinned. If a girl is a great performer and carries herself well skin tone doesn't matter much. If she's got a great set of breasts or great ass or has a great body in general skin tone won't be a factor. At the risk of offending some of the black pornstars and perhaps their fans...The ugly truth is that many black pornstars will never find crossover success in "high end" porn or gain wider success because they don't appeal to a wide audience. Many (not all)of the black female performers in porn today have very silly names, flabby bodies, wear make-up badly, play up the "ghetto speak" too much, don't work hard enough on their looks, etc., etc...There are some people who like that in their porn and that's fine but I don't think much most people watching porn wants to see that type of girl in their movies. There have been many times where a good looking black woman put on the cover of a movie box to grab the audience's attention and when you look at the back cover than goodlooking black pornstar is sandwiched between some pretty lame looking women. There are certain black female performers not only getting the work and attention they deserve with the bigger companies but helping prop up the lower end stuff with not so hot performers. Oh...And just to be fair...there are whitepornstars that have the same type of limited appeal.

Aryanna Starr and Misti Dawn join on the same day, damn I love this place lol. I think Jada Fire has proven that a black woman doesn't need to have the "white look" to be a superstar in the business. I see no reason why Aryanna, who has an incredible face and body can't achieve that same kind of status. I really think she's in the top 5 sexiest adult stars out right now, black,white, or whatever.
It's unfortunate that so many darker-skinned performers get type-cast so often. I, for one, hope that this fades away over time as people become more open about things.

I also think the problem is not which skin tone is more appealing but it lies with the studios who hire them. Black Market may be the popular All Black company but they do have some of the hot black girls in the business. But they won't produce any IR for example with white guys. They will with white women and black guys. Thier series baby Got Back for example would be great having some white guys tapping those big black bumpers. Now from a fan of Black women I like to see more IR with white men because it is just standard with the Black Men/White Women now. Melrose Foxxx is a hot light skinned black girl but when it comes to the black girls, Jada and Marie top my list of favs and then Nyomi Banxxx is right in there as well. And those sexy sistas are not light skinned, they are darker and sexier.
nah there are definitely degrees of blackness if we are just talking skin color. for example Simone Claire obviously had a little black in her heritage, but she was so light that she was not marketed like that. she was presented as a white girl
then look at someone like Kapri Styles. totally beautiful but the companies only put her in black-themed movies. Ghetto this, Black that, Booty blah blah and so on. if porn is so "color blind" about women then why couldn't she get work in non-racial theme stuff
Detroit, got to correct you on this. Kapri Styles got a nice porn role in feature "Jason Colt -- The Mystery of the Sexy Diamonds." Hopefully that will open some more doors to "non-racial theme stuff."
okay i am glad to be corrected about that. yeah in all fairness i have seen Kapri in a few non-racial scenes, like she did a hot 3some scene with Rebeca Linares for a movie that did not focus on blackness. they come from different worlds but they got it on just fine...i would like to see more scenes like that

Kapri Styles and Sydnee Capri do alot of IR and those two are good. I like Kapri better, she seems to get into it more with the dirty talk. She has some good energy. Sydnee is not as nasty I find. But overall if she is light skined or dark skinned, these ladies all look fine. Melrose Foxxx is a hottie for sure and so tiny. Kapri is slim but has a bumper.
After thinking about it again from a different perspective...it's very possible that a girl might not work for a particular company or director because they/he may have a preference toward lighter skinned black women. I don't think it matters that much with most fans but it's possible it could be a bigger issue with some companies/directors. I remember Vanessa Blue saying she'd been told by various directors she needed to slim down or get a nose job or she's too black, etc.. As big as she was in the business she said companies like WICKED refused to hire her. I also remember just recently on in a BTS shoot one of the directors from BLACK ICE was complaining that he had to deal with a new/different person at one of the agencies that didn't know him and what he was looking for in girls to hire. He said the girls they offered were all wrong for his company and it was a big waste of his time. So looking at it from the perspective of the people who hire the girls, yeah, it's possible skin tone may be an issue with certain companies. With so many companies catering to a specific audience (or at least think they are) I could see someone saying they won't hire a girls unless they look a certain way or change their look to fit in with what they want. Someone like Jada Fire may be so popular after coming in and busting her butt to make herself a popular pornstar enough to be able to work for most of the biggest companies out there because she has a big fanbase and can move product. But you have to wonder what kind of stupid stuff she had to hear from companies in the beginning.
Oh there's no doubt in my mind that Jada Fire has had to deal with her fair share of racism in the industry, but she busted her ass and she really is a legit superstar in the biz. Anytime a black woman can star in titles like Squirt Woman or anything outside of the stereotypical "ghetto queen" titles, she's crossed over to a certain degree. My point is ( and I'm not saying that just because she's here, I truly believe it) that if Jada can do it, I really see no reason why Aryana can't. She has a beautiful face and perfect body and she's a great performer. It's just getting some of these companies to change their booking policies I guess. That isn't the only kind of "type casting" going on in this business. Since I'm slim & fit I don't get shot by all the black companies. I think just because we are black women we have to work that much harder PERIOD. Every light skin girl that hit the business doesn't blow up so I think that has nothing to do with your success.I don't think I am where I am in this business just because I am light skinned.I don't think that I am where I am because I am light skinned. If that were the case I should be someones contract star. But this business don't want to promote the BLACK WOMAN as a Icon of beauty & sex. I'm sure that I caught people eye because of that & that is it. Hopefully one day this business will be based on your sexual skill & camera presence

Well one thing for sure that made me a fan of Marie Luv and Jada Fire was how they performed in the scenes I first seen them in. Another is, I think black women are sexy as hell. And thirdly, both Marie and Jada are hot. I would say the icing on the cake for myself was meeting both of them at the AVN AEE in 2008 and 2009. Marie was very sweet, hot as hell and no attitude. Jada was ever so hot, friendly, and completely down to earth. The one thing for sure that stands out to me about Marie was when I first chatted on here with her about a month before the Expo, she told me to bring all the DVD covers of the movies I had of hers. Seen as it was my first time meeting her. Anyhow I do think it seems that the Porn industry just does not embrace women of colour as much as it seems to have a lovefest for Blondes. From Amber Lynn in the 80's to Kayden Kross now, seems there is no end to the same look.

That's funny because I always thought of you as Dark Skin, you look that way in all the movies I own.
I just started a new thread about the dirth of new black porn stars. I have been a fan of your and Jada for years but it seems that beyond you two there is no one else. I don't know if it is companies not wanting to feature black girls or because there are no new stars entering the business. When I see all the new girls on this site, they are all young; white, either blonde or brunette and alls seem to look like the one before or after. I am looking for another Heather Hunter; Jada Fire or Marie Luv. Will there be one?
