^ Paul Schrader has directed 4 movies over the past 12 years (and has not directed since 2008): "Adam Resurrected" - 2008 despite searching IMDB and Box Office Mojo I can't find out how much money this movie made at the box office. That ought to tell you something. "The Walker" - 2007 made a total of $79,698 (that's not a typo) at the box office "Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist" - 2005 made a total of $251,495 at the box office "Auto Focus" - 2002 - made a total of $2,063,196 at the box office He has not directed a movie that made more then $10,000,000 at the box office since 1987 {"Light Of Day"}. Yeah, that's the resume of an A-List director. Mary Harron, the writer of "American Psycho" {in 2000, 12 years ago), has only written 2 movies since then. She wrote The Notorious Bettie Page {box office gross of $1,415,082} in 2006 and "The Moth Diaries" (box office gross of $3,838, again not a typo) in 2011. Paul Schrader hasn't been a B List director let alone an A List director since the early 80's. Harron has no significent credits. Hence, with Lindsay Lohan 2012 in this movie it is F List at best.

^ Yeah, you're right, Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Steven Soderbergh, Billy Wilder, John Ford, Howard Hawks, Mel Brooks, Woody Allen, The Coen Brothers, Clint Eastwood, William Friedkin, Christopher Nolan, Ridley Scott, and Robert Zemeckis are all hacks.
It's not the written by the writer of the "American Psycho" movie, it's written by the person who wrote the original book (and "Rules of Attraction"), Brett Easton Ellis. And just because a movie isn't A-List doesn't make it not mainstream. At worst, it's an indie movie with noteworthy names behind it, which is much more than you can say about, for example, Sasha Grey's acting career post-Sodebergh. ^Wasn't trying to slam Sasha. It's just that there's no debating that Sasha's gone mainstream, and besides Sodebergh all her other movies have had a lower profile than this one (and to use his own method of determination, GFE only grossed about $700,000).
^ She's doing a lot of indie stuff which is probably what she can get right now and you don't tend to see a lot of big names in Indie films. GFE was a vanity project for Soderbergh. He's made so much $ on the Ocean's trilogy alone, I'm sure he could care less what GFE made. Some of the indie stuff she's doing I'm sure will be crap and some may be good. But she's gaining experience, building a resume and who knows, she may grab an Indie movie that hits big and gives her some real mainstream credibility. Truthfully these days, I'd much rather watch an Indie or foreign film and be pleasantly surprised than a lot of the mainstream crap being shoveled out there with big names and huge advertising budgets that open in 4000 theaters. Crazy Heart was an Indie film written and directed by a guy with zero directorial credits to his name that was barely able to cut a deal to get released...and it's one of the best films I've seen in the last 5 years. We're living in an environment that thinks The Real Housewives is fascinating must-see viewing. What's popular may not always be the best barometer of what is really good, at least for my taste.

Well, unfortunately that is the bottom line. Slightly off topic, but just like Will Smith getting credited for the success of MIB and Independence Day. Hell, I could have been in them and they would have made a ton. Or a scene by scene remake of the Karate Kid starring Jayden Smith and he gets called a superstar. If Lindsay Lohan is your only star, your male lead is a porn star, and other roles are fleshed out by other porn stars, its a safe bet to say that this will be straight to DVD.

lol didn't mean to start an argument. I never said shrader was 'A-list', but I'm kind of a film buff and the director/writer(bret easton ellis, not mary whoever) associated with the movie have great reputations so I was just trying to point out that it is a legit movie. I'm just confused why someone's first response to lily being in a mainstream movie would be that it's 'not mainstream' when it clearly is. Regardless of the success of the movie, It's just a cool thing she gets to do, why be negative about it? The trailer for The Le Wood Anal Hazing Crew looks really good, especially Lily's part. I've always liked Mark Wood as a performer (and I think a lot of the starlets do to actually) and never found a problem with him as a lot of others seem to do. In fact it was a scene with him that first got me hooked on Lily as the chemistry was amazing. I mentioned it on here ages ago...

Oui! Mon francais est terrible! But I practice every day and I know soon I will be a francophone!
