Today when I tried to post a clickable link when i tried to click the link to make sure it worked it gives me an error messageIs this a bug caused by the site redesign?

^ I had something similar happen in a post I made this morning. I put in two links, one to Luna Light's thread and one to Nikki Peach's thread. Nikki's worked fine but Luna's generated an error like Jman got.
The forum now goes out and fetches URLs in the background to verify that URLs are functional. It also checks for URLs against public Safe Browsing APIs. If there's an error during the verification process it will edit the post to remove the link. I will dig into it a bit to see fi I can figure out why that URL was inaccessible.
Leyden: I checked the link checker log. The Luna Light topic returned a server error when the background link checker fetched the page. I think I need to update the background checker to require 3 failures in a row for the the same link before deactivating a link so that random/transient errors don't cause a link to get disabled.
I've had a few cases recently where in the preview the link gives an error, but then I just load the post as is, and the link works fine in the loaded post.
Happened again just now.

I'm having the same issue. I posted two links in separate forum posts today and both don't direct through to the page. Both are Imgur links. I've copied in the links to the pages not using the link generator and when I test them by copying and pasting they work fine so I don't think the issue is Imgur.
I added some code this morning to convert all forum code tags to lower case before the post is processed. If people accidentally use mixed case in tags it won't matter moving forward.
No moderator has ever said any of those things were an issue, and all of my posts follow forum etiquette.
What can I say, I am an avid fan of hardcore anal. And although the vast majority of my posts are LegalPorno scenes, I've also posted plenty of pictures and links in the past from other content producers that I personally appreciate and wanted to share with other like minded individuals.
I've always responded promptly to any issues raised by moderators, and even financially supported this forum when it was under attack. Now my posts are suddenly an issue?
I have changed the link generator to strip out BB code tags in the text portion of the link.
With respect to your posts appearing to be advertisements: I clicked your username in this topic to go to your profile to view the recent topics you have posted in. You didn't provide a sample of the link generator problem so I had to go seek one out to understand the issue. Maybe it's just coincidence that the first 5 links other than the your post in Tech Talk were all just a single image with keyword-laden, SEO optimized links to Legal Porno. (and a series of emoticons that seem to imply some kind of orgasmic frenzy.) No additional info or commentary. If a brand new member made a post like that the post would be promptly deleted and their account banned for spamming. You have to admit, posts like that are nothing more than advertisements. Any reasonable person would agree.
And for the timing of my observation: I never read those topics. I only looked at them because of your post here in Tech Talk. It's not a sudden problem, I just happen to be aware of it now.
I don't admit to anything other than sharing links and images of relevant content in their respective forums. Again, I do not work for any of these companies, and I do not receive any kind of incentive, financial or otherwise, for sharing this content. I am a fan, that is all.
I think most reasonable people would agree that in order for my posts to be an advertisement, I would have to receive something in return for them, when in fact I do not.
So if I am understanding you correctly, you're saying all I need to do in order for my links to work is remove the GIF images, and post the actual URL address rather than the text based name of the scene in the BB code?
If you want the GIFs to appear in your posts just move them outside of the URL tag instead of being part of it. I have updated the code that processes URLs into link IDs so it strips out any tags other than images. I have edited a few of your recent posts to test that it works. The reason for this change is because we're trying to move to a new site design and having a bunch of other stuff embedded in HREF links becomes problematic. It worked in the past because we never really cared much about things like CSS or valid HTML. Moving forward with the new design we have to correct these problems.
They work now. But, the preview window does not do our background link processing. It just displays the provided URL. We process links in posts to verify that they meet a number of different criteria. That processing happens after a post is saved in the database.
About the extra processing we do: there's some code on our end that will check a URL against our banned domain list. We ban links to domains that are tube sites and sites that are known to distribute malware.

previously pointing mouse at a link used to show the actual link but now it only shows the website name. most of the time url gives me enough information to decide if i should click the link or not.. it was better that way.
