If you can list the ways a New Zealander can become a pornstar, i will be one right away. We just don't have any studios here to try out for. :-(

My dick is way too small. I'd also say that my face is too ugly, but I've seen plenty of guys in porn who were uglier than me. But nearly every guy doing porn has a bigger dick than me.
Thank goodness for internet anonymity.

Actually, I doubt more than small fraction of us here would be able to get wood on camera.

Not to burst anyone's bubble, but the majority of porn actors take Viagra and even inject their dicks in order to stay hard for hours.

There are some women in porn that most young men would get a woody for on Christmas morning in the window of Macy's New York store.

Not defensive at all. If John Leslie considers himself an artist, it just fits into my argument that artists make awful porn. I think all of his stuff as a director is crap and there is nothing to be said that can sway my opinion on his stuff. Joey Silvera's stuff is hit or miss at best and there is nothing memorable about Jake Malone or Mason's stuff that would be classify it as anything other than generic. The minute someone in the porn world starts referring to their work as art and to themselves as an artist is they day they are taking themselves way too seriously. However; I will tolerate the director of the Pirate series, (even thought I think they are highly overrated and lousy porn) to refer to themselves as a filmmaker when referring to their work. That is, as long as they produce stuff such as Pirates. To call anyone an "artist" in the porn world is really pushing it. The same as calling any girl that performs in porn as a "Porn Star." There is about as much art in the standard girl on a couch answering a few questions before fucking some mopes as my little niece scribbling on piece of paper with her crayons. And as soon as said film makers go back to shooting the standard porn scenario they stop making films and go back to shooting porn and being a pornographer. To call them an "artist" is standard resume padding the same as anyone who puts out a CD calling themselves a "recording artist"

Most pornographers may not be a good artists but they are all artists of one kind of another, you could refer to them as craftsman if you wanted but I think the distinction is false.
I would consider the filmmaker who did Chameleon: Not the Sequel more of an 'artist' than the guy who produced Adventures of Buttman but that's all a matter of taste. Similarly, how anyone could refer to Fuck Slaves 2 or Annette Schwarz is Slutwoman as generic is beyond me. To say Silvera, who directed the amazing Kink, is hit and miss is to state the obvious considering the production rate that modern porn demands. Stagliano has a fair number hits and misses in his filmography as well, you have to judge an artist (or 'craftsman') by their best not their worst. None of these films match your description of the typical 'interview and fuck' gonzo which is basically a style ripped off of Stagliano anyway.

You'd think so ntfighter but that's simply not true, before Viagra (as John points out) the ability to perform on camera was a rare commodity.

I beg to differ. Fucking isn't difficult, Porn fucking twice a day five days a week on a set is difficult. It is made difficult because the stud is expected to perform mechanically, but also to act humanly. I mean he's expected to perform physically as a meat puppet, and be a good enough actor to bring us along in the fantasy. That is an impossibility. Just as everyone recognizes the body language of an angry human, we recognize the body language of the sexually aroused human. We are unmoved by porn because we are wired to respond to the sight, sounds and maybe the positions that the human body assumes during sex.
Modern producer aren't artist any more so than the guy who install the pistons in engines on a Ford assembly line. He is a technician. Art touches us on the human level, some of the sex filmed in the seventy's were on that level. It was "sex on camera", beautiful bodies doing sexy things. It wasn't a facsimile as we have today. Any authenticity today is provide by our imagination.
I believe that given a more relaxed on set atmosphere, and the director being less intrusive most healthy male could preform a sex scene on camera. The difficulty is performing "porn" on camera.
Viagra allowed force to replace lust and athleticism to replace passion.

Agreed once again. If a person thinks of themself as an artist, regardless of what any individual might think of their work, then who am I to refute their claim.
On the other hand, a great many modern porn directors make very clear that they are NOT artists. Again, this is not taking into consideration whether or not I personally like their work, but it's all relative.
When a person tells me they're an artist, I tend to examine their work through the lens of aesthetics to determine whether or not I like it.
When a person simply thinks of themself as a craftsman, I look at their work for proficiency in their craft and their ability to create a satisfactory product.

I'll go with your assertion that a better term is "Craftsman". And I have no problem with you saying Leslie is an artist. But like I said, the minute someone calls themselves an "artist" in the porn world, you're gonna get crappy non strokeable porn. I've always maintained that Leslie's artsy style of porn is crap, pure and simple. I'm generalizing here when I say the following about Leslie's films, as I stopped watching them long ago, all of his fare is the same thing, we have 15 seconds of close up shots, 15 seconds of a far off shot, 15 seconds of the person standing in the doorway watching. Rinse and repeat for the whole scene. Using Hot Scalding as an example. If I recall properly, April West and/or Cheri Taylor take a pop shot to the face at the end of the film. Do we get to enjoy the beauty of these women with a load of baby batter on their face? No! The minute the cum starts flying, we cut back over to the person standing in the doorway, or to the guy's face who is actually cumming, like he is the reason we're watching the flick.
As far as Stagliano's offerings are concerned I never watched many, as Angela Summers only appeared in a few of them. I wouldn't use the term artist or craftsman either as it doesn't do the man justice! I would call him a visionary. I also liked the fact that he sank alot of cash into a show in Vegas, if for no other reason than his rational of "being able to take his daughter to work with him"

Many people can't get into the whole "meat puppet" thing. Note that a lot of X rated movies made before the mid 80s featured innumerable soft or semi-hard dicks during sex scenes. Today it's almost like a crime if a guy is shown anything but fully hard during a sex scene. Thus, viagra and even injections are the norm, not the exception among porn performers. In a person's personal life, I'm sure there is no need for such measures.
That said, all the fake female moaning and screeching and all the incredibly scripted male dialogue like "suck my dick, baby" is so obviously faked it's embarrassing. Porn doesn't move me because I see no real humanity in it. I only see a very obvious form of performance, and not a very successful one.
I agree to the extent that sex is generally shot in a very boring, performative, and emotionless way today whereas in years past, there was a great deal more humanity to the performance. That was because in years past, the sex was there to augment the story while now sex scenes tend to live in a paralel universe. However, I would not say that sex is emotionless, but rather that most directors are told to a) shoot sex scenes in that cold and very boring way or b) are not talented enough to tell the actors to have sex in any way that is not cold and boring.
I would strongly recommend checking out The Awakening by Paul Thomas and even more so, The Last Rose by David Stanley. Both movies contain a fair amount of truly emotional and thus extremely powerful sexual encounters.

^^The lack of humanity is what I was trying to address Thanks for highlighting it.
I'll take a look at this movie: The Awakening by Paul Thomas, but I fear I will be left cold by the director insistence on showing the entire genitalia of the participants in every shot. In medium and long shots the actor will comport themselves in unnatural position to achieve the director goals. There is rarely anything beautiful in these position.
The director is not interested in the curve of the hips, the swell of the breast, He's shooting porn dammit! Case in point: lots of movies feature women with the most maddening asses and amazing bodies, but the cameras shot is so tight on the ass that all perspective is loss. All that is captured are moving butt cheeks, sometimes one cheek at a time. Its a dogs-eye view.
It's not the way we would admire a women with a lovely ass in the real world. This is porn being shot and directed by technicians. The guy who put in my cable isn't an artist, unless he added something of his humanity to the equation, gave me multi colored cables braided in an interesting pattern. As I mentioned Imho people are wired to respond to sexual situation as an observer/voyeur, but the cues that we would respond too are missing. Porn is analogous to watching a WWE wrestling.

Yes, totally. I think this is a great shame as well.
There were a number of avant garde short films made in the late 60s/early 70s which were nothing but a series of ECUs of details of the body while engaged in sex. They were beautiful and truly did sensualize the human body and all all of its parts.
I hate close-ups. I really don't feel they do anything for the scene. I'd much rather watch faces and minor body movements than repetitive shots of dicks going into pussies. There's nothing in that. An expressive face is so much more powerful than zit covered ass cheeks.
As for The Awakening, I'll admit that it sadly does not manage to get away from all the porn conventions and a number of sex scenes are shot in a very standard typical porn way. However, there are other times in the film when Thomas is truly able to break free and really makes his characters feel human while they are screwing. Like him and his films or not, but I'd say that's an accomplishment.

I know a lot of male porn performers who genuinely love what they do but still need to take viagra or injections to get hard. I certainly wouldn't call them losers.
Have you ever needed a cup of coffee to get yourself up in the morning (not hard, awake)? Well it's the same thing here. It has nothing to do with whether or not the person enjoys doing it, but we all need an energy boost from time to time.

If you read interviews with the directors and actors of the 70s you'll find that the ability to 'get wood' on camera was highly prized back then, particularly because they didn't have viagra to rely or fall back on.
I agree with you though that a better attitude on set and more attention to sensuality would improve things all around. Bill Landis (aka Bobby Spector) said that the best set he ever worked on was Gerard Damiano's, who kept things relaxed and free, but also produced some of the best films of the 70s and 80s.

Most likely they need to take pills and injections because they're fucking too much. Possibly too much on the outside. I lived in the valley for a while. Northridge. Porn Central. The amount of pussy you can get on a daily basis is insane! And each woman is finer than the one before. And they're not even porn chicks. Some wanna-be's, sure. There were plenty of those. I thought New York women liked to fuck, but Cali women are off the fuckin' chain! My dick I was always sore from slamming. The guys may also do too many scenes in a row. The body needs to re-power. Women who fuck too much need more lube. Guys lose their boners. So when it's time to make money, they need help.

Recently a producer posted in response to an aspiring male porn actor he described the modern interview process. In essence the interviewee is command to "get hard and show it to me". In contrast, I read an interview that took place in the late seventy's in which the interview consisted of a sex session.
The difference is the kind of male that was being sought, and the males who are in demand now. The former stud was sexually aroused and able to perform in a real world application, the latter unaroused but tumescent could perform with a women or a tree with equal lack of passion. Yes its difficult to be a porn star, there's no pleasure or fun in it.
Viagra has been a boon to the fans and to the business overall. We most likely would not have modern porn without it.
The #1 reason not to do porn today is that if anyone is enjoying the experience it is purely by accident.

It's also somewhat due to the need to stay hard without cumming for long periods of time. A lot of guys will cum rather quickly, especially if they like the girl they're working with, and thus need to take preventative measures so all 500 angels can be shot.

This is something has always given me pause, this idea that there is a requirment to stay hard for long periods of time. I don't get it. I don't presume to know all the problem that might arise on a porn set, but this one Seems to be a problem created by porn movie making culture.
These guys are supposed to Shoot "Gonzo" minimum everything, basically it's people fucking. Maximum time from penetration to cessation, Add normal and expected breaks for the participants and techs. Everything else is added by the "Man" I'd love it if producers, whenever possible, shot within the limits of human sexuality, or that there was just one or two who would give it a try.
Guys having to needle their dick to meet the demands. Talk about getting a woody. Their dicks are just out there by itself, waving around.
That's fucked up right there.

Apologies for chiming in to this discussion late.
Initially, I didn't join the site to write on its Blog.
I'm blogged out from writing on other sites of various interest.
Most important, I feel compelled to comment on this topic.
I'd like to piggyback and/or focus on the subscription male enhancement pill portion of this discussion.
I have several genuine friends in the Adult Entertainment Industry, performers, producers and directors.
In the early days of Porn, 60s, 70s, actors had fluffers to keep them erect. For younger audiences that don't know. Fluffers were girls (often non performers) that were paid by the studio to use their oral skills to keep a male performer erect before he went in front of the camera to perform.
An aside, One of Porn Legend Sinnamon early sex scenes was as a fluffer for an early Wall to Wall, Gang Bang.

I forgot the actress name. She broke Spontaneous Ecstasy Record. You can hear the director yelling, "Sinnamon You're not supposed to make the guys cum".
Every guy Sinnamon Fluffed she made them cum.
I must've CUM everytime Sinnamon made one of her patrons CUM.
Furthermore, during the 60s and 70s studios had Stunt Cocks. The Stunt Cock was a Stand In for the male performer in the event he couldn't get wood. The scene was generally shot with close ups of the torso in and out motion, not the Stunt Cock face.
Male performers of that era were not under the competitive pressures they are today. Meaning, financial, talent, and production competition amongst various studios.
Noted studios of the era weren't cranking out several releases every month compared to today. Film production was more expensive.
Many people writing on this blog are under the impression its EASY to be a MALE Porn Star. It emphatically is not.
When the Klieg Lights Shine and the camera(s) roll. You must be able to get wood on cue, (within five minutes tops) many people on set, various distractions, people talking on set, laughing and joking, the director starting and stopping at various times for whatever reason, to answer his/her cell phone, give additional direction to performers.
Albeit, there may not be any chemistry between you and your female partner. Your partner may be uncooperative to even give you a hand job if you're experiencing wood problems.
In 1999, I had the distinct honor, and pleasure of meeting Legendary Male Performer TT Boy when he filmed Black Street Hookers 5 & 6 in Washington D.C.
Many are unaware Black Street Hookers in the early days was shot with real prostitutes and porn actresses were used when TT Boy couldn't get prostitutes in the selected city and state he visited to perform on camera.
The two (2) misguided reviews written on Black Street Hookers 5 & 6 are as wrong as 2 left shoes.
I met TT Boy at the 55 Club (a gentleman's club) next door to the Adult Video Store I owned with partners, In & Out Video.
Fast forwarding to make my point. Upon entering 55 Club, TT Boy was immediately recognized by his male fan base.
Everybody that recognized him ran up to TT Boy giving him Props and telling him how much they enjoyed his work.
Just about everyone quipped they could perform on film the same as him. All except one person (Yours Truely) asked him if they could be in his movie.
There were about nine (9) to twelve (12) guys standing around talking to TT Boy trying to get in his movie.
TT Boy said, "You want to be in my movie. You have to be able to get your Dicks Hard." TT Boy instructed them to get their Dicks Hard.
Everyone had a puzzled look on their faces.
All the guys stated in unison, "What do you mean get my Dick Hard. You're Crazy. There aren't any women around. Disturbed Voices saying they weren't on set".
"We are not allowed to touch the EXOTIC DANCERS".
"What the Hell do you mean get our Dicks Hard".
TT Boy looked at them again with a knowing look and Shit Eating Grin. Went into a Zone for about 3-5 seconds.
TT Boy said, "You Mother Fuckers want to be in my movies this is what you've got to be able to do".
Within 3-5 seconds of being in his Zone Grabbing the Front of His Pants, Cock Rock Hard and Fully Erect.
The guys were Shouting Oh Shit, WTF!!!!!!!
How in the Fuck did you do that?!
They were in Awe.
TT Boy stated again, "You Mother Fuckers want to be in my movies this is what you've got to be able to do, get wood when I tell you to do it".
All the guys said, "fuck that I can't do that".
Lesson Learned!!!!!!!!!
Porn isn't Fucking in the privacy of your Bedroom with your girlfriend.
Most of the Renowned Male Porn Performers have the SEX DRIVE of a RAPIST. For lack of a better word. Meaning, they have higher levels of testosterone than normal men.
Trade Secret, TOP MALE PERFORMERS have very strong
Pubococcygeus Muscles built by Kegal Exercises.

Strong Pubococcygeus Muscles allow them to achieve erections at will by visualizing technique, (Zoning) and pumping blood into the penis via Kegals.
Sustain erections for longer periods of time, control when they ejaculate. Ability to cut off the flow of ejaculation at will. Just like tapping a brake to stop your car.
Strong Pubococcygeus Muscles give the Male Performer Total Control over his body from the benefit of stronger ROCK HARD erections.
Credit where its due. Thanks fo Xavier Hollander of Playboy Magazine exposing this Trade Secret over twenty (20) years ago in her Playboy Column.
I've been doing Kegals for Eleven Years. I have complete control over my body.
Achieving Erections are 100% Mental.
If you think about not having an erection while trying to perform, chances are you will not get wood.
The Great Wallenda of The Flying Wallenda Family didn't Fall to his Death until he thought about Falling.
Every male would like to believe they can perform in adult entertainment movies.
The reality, most cannot, even with Viagra and Cialis.
There are many reasons for erectile dysfunction.
Psychological / Mental, lack of sleep, depression, anxiety
Hormonal, testoterone
Vascular, blood flow
Viagra and Cialis only take care of blood flow addressing the vascular penile dysfunction. Both are nothing more than Blood Thinners.
Abuse of either can cause major, major health issues.
A safer alternative is a healthy lifestyle regular exercise and eating habits supplimented with natural herbs used everyday or several times a week to combat, as well, correct Mental Stress, Hormonal, and Vascular dysfunction.
Not the Over The Counter Garbage they sell on TV.
My point of contention, Yes there is the Viagra / Cialis generation in Adult Entertainment.
Genuine performers use it little if at all. Again, there are safer alternatives Natural Herbs that work better and are safer for ones health and well being.
Viagra nor Cialis will make a weak performer the next Rocco Siffredi or TT Boy.

In my view, that's just depressing. I think we wouldn't have the porn we have now but I don't think that would be a bad thing. I think we'd have better porn. Viagra has been good for business in the sense that they can take two robots and command them to move in sexual motions. It's not been so good for fans who can tell the difference.

I think the toughest thing about being a male performer is everything you have to put your body through to perform on a daily basis. For some people that may mean Viagra, injections, pills, etc. Guys who don’t shoot much have it easier. It’s really quite similar to any athletic professional sport. Think if you had to play a game everyday. That’s a lot of wear and tear on your body. It’s nothing to have sex everyday (even multiple times a day), but when you have to “perform” for the camera it’s a lot more stressful.
Getting hard isn’t a problem now with all the chemical enhancements available. Although I’d hate to get to the point that I needed Viagra/injections just to get it up. In my experience, the problems usually have to deal with being able to cum on cue. There’s nothing worse than having everyone waiting around on set watching the clock, while waiting for the guy to cum.

Yeah I agree wholeheartedly I do think ED drugs were a boon. Porn culture/the business of making porn abused the benefits ED drugs gave it. The post above mention T.T. Boy being able to pop a hard-on in a room full of fans and in the absence of any stimulus. That might be a rare talent but it has nothing to do with his sex drive, and it is for sure going to make for robotic sex. This statement sums it up nicely "they can take two robots and command them to move in sexual motions." Once the difference is noticed it's impossible to un-notice.

1. I wouldn't want certain family members or co-workers to find out. I fear being ostracized, to an extent. As in, maybe my family or friends won't like me anymore.
2. Fear of STDs. I don't work well with condoms.
3. Unplanned pregnancy. There's always the What If.
Also, porn as a career?! No thanks. I'd get burned out.
But an occasional job, just for fun? Sure.
If a girlfriend wanted to make some money and she twisted my arm, then maybe I would. It would be kind of thrilling.

Clarification, there were Naked Women performing on stage at Club 55.
That would've been his stimulus TT Boy definitely has a Predilection for Ethnic Women.
Certain he was already aroused eye-balling the women on stage while talking to us and began his Kegal Exercises which pumps blood into Corpora Cavernosa, the main blood holding chamber of the penis. This is where 90% of all blood is retained each and every time we gain an erection.
The Corpus Spongiosum is the chamber used mainly when we urinate and ejaculate.
High and/or low levels of Testosterone has everything to do with Libido,(Sex Drive).
Medically it has been proven Serial Rapist have abnormally High Testosterone Levels, perhaps twice as high as normal men.
Clinically when men complain about their lack of interest in sex or being unable to perform.
Physicians will check the testosterone levels.
If the levels are sufficiently low they can be treated with testosterone injections or patches.
I have been aroused and erect after I learned to do Kegals without physically touching a women, being in the same room with a women. Without aid of any Erectile Dysfunction medication. Which I don't condone.
In my fifties I can get erect just thinking about sex using visualization technique and Kegals in under one minute.
In my fifties, I still Pitch a Tent every morning.
What kills libido, (sex drive) excessive masturbation to Porn. Do I need to clarify?!
Unhealthy living, stress, poor nutrition, medical reasons.
There are Foods, Vitamins and Natural Herbs that replenish the body, as well, aid in the production of semen. A Nutritionist can provide more finite detail.
I've talked to women, looked at women, fantasized about women in public on the subway, at work, walking down the street, every situation imaginable without touching them fully aroused with a Hard On.
That my Friend is indeed Sex Drive and High Testosterone Levels.
TT Boy being able to get erect at will is not Rare nor Unique. It is conditioning and Technique.
The Penis is a Muscle. If you build that Muscle learning proper conditioning methods and technique you will be able to get wood at will, control your ejaculation, and prolong intercourse.
If you haven't condition yourself to run a marathon all you'll ever do is be able to sprint.
Every male experience Erectile Dysfunction at some point in their lives.
Again, Erections are 100% Psychological.
Yes, there is a Culture in Adult Cinema today that permeate the use of Erectile Dysfunction stimulents to perform.
All performers aren't dependant on them.
The same as all performers don't do Kegal Exercise and live healthy lives.
Addressing a few private emails I've gotten on this subject.
I Do Not recommend any Natural Herbs, Vitamins to anyone in Private or Online for Erection Health Maintenance.
I'm not a Physician. There's always the tendency for abuse.
Most important, what work for me or someone else may not work for you.
Check with a Health Practitioner or Herbologist in your locale
Anyone wishing to test their Pubococcygeus Muscles.
Get Erect, however you do it. Place a wet washcloth on the shaft of your penis and try to bounce it up and down.
If you can bounce it up and down that's a good indication your Pubococcygeus Muscles are strong.
If you cannot bounce a wet washcloth on the shaft of your penis that is an indication your Pubococcygeus Muscles are weak.
I do Super Kegals twice a week along with a four (4) hour regimen of normal Kegals every other day.
I perform Super Kegals with Blue Jeans folded across the shaft of my penis, 10 Reps, three Sets.
To see Strong Pubococcygeus Muscles at work:
See 'Buttman Bendover Brazilian Babes 1'.
The 2nd scene with Katia, Rocco, and Felipe at Corcavado.
At the house Katia sets on Rocco's lap fondling him and the scene after that Rocco is aroused using the strength of his Pubococcygeus Muscles to move his shaft back and forth and side ways.
Within a later scene Katia is between Rocco's legs. Rocco is fully erect telling Katia to "come hear" moving his Penis back and forth with his Pubococcygeus Muscles.
You can see Filipe trying to do them. He has no success in trying.
Trust this helps to all that inquired.

I doubt there is a high demand for a 300lbs dude with a small dick that can cum in under a minute.

To answer this question, would require my picture.
I have no desire to be charged with the unmeant deaths of that many people.

Ed Powers once asked me to be in a scene for one of his movies. I replied that he only wanted me in the movie because he was looking for someone to make him look good!
