It can't be that hard to get a permit. There are scores of performers filming over here who are British, German, Czech, Brazilian, Canadian, etc... Esperanza means hope!
Its not hard but most of the European performers shooting the US are doing so illegally. It use to be rather easy to get a US ID. And in some states it still may be. Oregon for example, all you needed was proof of residence and DMV would give you an ID. So if you had a copy of lease with your name on it, you were good. The Patriot Act change some of that. I don't see why anybody supposes there would be a problem for this girl. Kiki Vidis showed up from Australia and got work right away. Zeina Heart showed up for work from Canada and got work right away. Maria Belucci showed up from Hungary and got work right away. Jennifer Dark showed up for work from the Czech Republic and got work right away. All of these girls went to the US and immediately got into the biz in 2006/07/08. So I'm not citing examples from a long time ago. This is recent stuff. I have no idea whether they did this legally or illegally, but they did it. So if they could do it, surely Esperanza Gomez can do it too.

I am sure there's an agent out there that will get her an ID that will let her work under 2257, it just wont be legal. INS hits companies in California regularly that hire illegal aliens. Without a VISA she would be illegal and any company hiring her for a shoot could be fined and prosecuted. (I could go on forever here.) All of them? If so, what the fuck is the government trying to pursue these tricky obscenity indictments for then? If they really want to stick it to the porn industry, they should just show up and ask people for work visas. They'd eliminate a third of the talent, directors, agents, etc. in Porn Valley in an afternoon.

Actually Christian is right, as Pornlaw pointed out. And yes most of the people mentioned above and a lot of others are working here illegally. The exception being Ben English, whom I believe is a citizen. (I could be wrong) But it does explain the nuptuals to Nikki Jaye (making her one) though the nuptuals never happened...so... another federal law that gets violated a lot is the Mann Act. I can remember when nobody in porn would risk this, now it seems almost everyone does. For the record...I don't. But then I don't need to.

Mike, I had never heard of the Mann Act until now (well, not by name - I was aware that there was such a law, but being Canadian I'm not always aware of the particular names of US laws). Just reading up on it now, it seems to be about transporting the women between states for "immoral purposes", in other words flying a girl in from Indiana to shoot porn in California, stuff like that. But would how often does this happen? I thought most girls fly themselves in, as opposed to a particular company flying them in. Does it still violate the Mann Act if the girl is responsible for her own travel and accommodations, etc. and shoots porn once she arrives in the new state? Oh, what about the "model houses" that some of the West Coast agencies have? In that case the company is providing the girl with accommodation. Would that be a violation of the act, even though she booked and paid for her own flight?

The Mann act only applies to transporatation as transportation is under the domain of the federal government (The Mann Act is a federal law) let me try to put it in perspective I could fly a girl from Ssacramento, CA to to L.A to shoot porn and the Mann Act does not apply from Las Vegas to L.A. it does apply You are correct in that porn would be defined as an immoral purpose (and has been in the past) giving her a hotel room does not fall under the Mann Act because hotels aren't under federal jurisdiction like transportation is. Many companies these days do provide interstate transportation for the models, agencies do it and web based companies do it. It's begging for trouble.
I'd assume the biggest violator of that particular act then would be the Bang Bros. ring of websites. I'd wager more than half of their content contains girls who make their home in California that they've flown down to Florida to engage in a 'lil "immorality." [Link]
If the govt wanted to attack the industry, the least effective weapon to do so is an obscenity prosecution. You will see more and more attempts to regulate the industry to death over the next 5-10 years. That means INS, insurance, OSHA, overtime, taxes ect. The industry is big business and the govt is finally coming to terms with that. Go research the 25% porn tax in California or the number of states that are imposing pole taxes at strip clubs. With the bailout I see the govt looking to industry to shoulder a larger financial burden then they have and I also see tax on the internet looming on the horizon. Maine is the same way regarding issuing State IDs. The legislature here passed a law making it illegal to require proof of citizenship to get a state-issued ID.

I agree with except on the internet tx While I have NO doubt that they will try I do believe that constitutionally any such effort would (and should) be construed as a tax on free speech...a strict no no. Ditto for pole taxes and porn taxes, IIRC these taxes have failed constitutional muster in the past for this exact reason.
Just to clear that up for you, in April 2008 I finally got my permanent resident card (Green Card) which makes me a legal resident of the United States of America. Before that I had a temporary resident card for 3 years and before that I had a simple work permit. It took me many years to get the final thing and I have 2 more years to go to become citizen. It doesn't mean I am just now legally allowed to work here, I was before, the process is long and you get temporary papers until you have the final thing. Yes, it's very hard. cost me a lot of money, time, nerves and yes, many girls work here illegally. It's not possible to get work permits in 2 weeks. I have a SSN, pay taxes (are not allowed to vote though), have a CA DL, health insurance, Roth IRA and everything a US citizen would have. Let me tell you the US immigration process is very hard and long. It costs a lot of money, not like 1000 more like 10.000 or more: lawyers, fees etc. and I don't want to talk about the many nights were you can't sleep because you don't know if they will approve you. the weird feeling sitting in front of the immigration officer that decides if you can stay or have to pack your things andd leave. They look at you like a potention criminal. criminal back ground check, fingerprints, they take your blood sample, medical examination, psychological exam, so many form to fill out: believe me, it's not that easy... Good for you Katja, you went about it the correct way and you are well on your way to citizenship as well, should you choose to go that route. Personally I don't think it should be as difficult as it is but you now have the benefit of not having to worry about it. Congrats to you.
