As I was just thinking about a few porn features that would have stood up as mainstream features, even if were just direct to video type titles... ... I got to thinking about mainstream movies that would have been great, or perhaps enhanced by hardcore sex scenes. The first ones that jumped into my mind were a couple of Canadian features from the mid-90's, Exotica and Love and Human Remains Then I immediately jumped to Crash (the one starring James Spader and based on JG Ballard's Novel) and even Sex, Lies, and Videotape. What are some that you think fit the bill?

^ Totally. Cronenberg's Crash is another good choice, I'm sure if it was feasible he would have wanted to make it a hardcore film, makes perfect sense if you've read the novel. Last Tango in Paris would live up to the hype better if it actually had some hardcore, or at least a shot of Brando's dick in it. The claim that it is so taboo shattering doesn't stand up to scrutiny in my opinion, it shows everything for the female character but the sacred penis that the film is supposedly critiquing is left sacrosanct. Oshima made his arthouse/porn classic In the Realm of the Senses after hearing about Last Tango and mistakenly thinking it had real sex scenes in it. Story of O and some of Robbe-Grillet's films would be workable as xxx films. Almost any film about sexual obsession or dysfunction could benefit from xxx scenes done right, McQueen's flawed Shame is a good example.
Of course its already been made into porn, but... Very much perfect for porn. The original might actually be better than porn. Spring Breakers Edited by - KinkWilliams on 1/26/2016 6:22:04 PM

Just saw another film based on a JG Ballard novel that would have totally worked with hardcore sex. High-Rise (2015) Edited by - ScottMcGowan on 7/25/2016 9:12:08 AM
sal would have been a great porn movie. Two things happened with this one that we never got to see as they were sacrificed to the cutting room floor. Ashlyn Gere actually had a small cameo in the movie that was cut for time. This was when she was trying to do a mainstream crossover; she even appeared in an old X-Files episode billed as Kimberly Ashlyn Gere. Sheena Easton also had a cameo as a lounge singer, which was cut for time although they did use songs from her album No Strings. Indecent Proposal is still one of my all time favorite movies but it would have been so much better if one of my all time favorite singers and one of my all time favorite porn stars parts were left in the film. I keep hoping maybe there will be an extended cut or a director's cut but sadly, I believe Adrin Lynne who gave us so many passionate movies is gone now. Sigh. Also, Leaving Las Vegas. And finally, the Mel Gibson film Payback.
Night Shift is a film about a morgue attendant who is talked into running a brothel at his workplace. It's Ron Howard's directorial debut. It stars his pal Henry Winkler, along with Michael Keaton and Shelly Long. It came out in summer of 1982, a year before Risky Business.

^ Good pick, I recently rewatched this and Shelley Long is sexy in it in a way you never saw on Cheers. But it isn't Howard's directorial debut, his first film is Grand Theft Auto, shot for Roger Corman in 1977. A fun movie too.
