We all know about people trying to cross from porn to mainstream, but have any mainstream-types ever strayed into porn? Not including failed actresses etc, but somewhat successful types who just wanted to fuck on camera. Not including Pamela Anderson, that's not proper porn.
Similar topics have been posted before. Besides people who get into mainstream after a successful porn career (say Traci Lords, and maybe Zara Whites), there have been some people who tried porn for a short while, quit, and then achieved a measure of success in some mainstream activity like film or modelling (such as multiple award-winning Turkish-German actress Sibel Kekilli, now-famous Iranian-Norwegian model Aylar Lie, and largely forgotten American actress Kristine DeBell (who did a little bit of fairly softcore porn and later appeared in movies with Jackie Chan and Bill Murray. French-Italian actress Corinne Clery did some soft porn (Histoire d'O and some little-known others) and then played in mainstream movies including James Bond 'Moonraker'. But a for the reverse order, from mainstream success into porn I think you're looking for a needle in a haystack. You already disqualified Pamela Anderson, so I guess that also disqualifies Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian. There was also some East European singer chick that had a sex tape like that, anyway as I said that probably wouldn't count. Some girl who played a minor guest role in a Star Trek episode did some porn later I believe, I forgot her name but I seem to remember it was nothing spectacular. Does Playboy Centerfold Teri Weigel moving into porn count? Also, German (or maybe Austrian?) actress Karin Schubert was a minor mainstream actress in her younger days (in the 1960s), performed with some well-known actors of the day, and moved into hardcore porn as a MILF (although I would certainly have declined to fuck her the way she looked by then) in the 1980s. I guess that's pretty much it. I've posted most of the above names in earlier threads on similar topics, and I'd be surprised if any spectacular new revelations are posted here, but who knows? That's the only name that came to mind when I read the question. Let's face it. Porn is still considered as such a step downwards in a career that hardly anybody who had mainstream success would take the plunge into porn. They'd rather do some sexwork off-screen if they can't pay their bills with mainstream work anymore.
Sonny Landham has done both mainstream and adult. James Hong appeared in one adult film, in a non-sex role. Beth Broderick has appeared in a few adult films in non-sex roles. John Anthony Baily (Jack Baker) went from mainstream to adult. These are the ones that I can think of off the top of my head. I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting.

As interesting as all these little snippets of information are it's really stretching it to suggest that the people involved were full-time mainstream. A more accurate title for this thread would be "performers who had some small mainstream credits". I would say that Angelique Pettyjohn is the only one with any, what I would call real, mainstream action namely a featured role on an episode of a network television series. I also doubt that the biz will ever get anyone else with even that degree of mainstream success. Unless, of course, that individual is so hurting for money or near destitute or just so fucked up that she has no other choice. I also just want to clarify my last sentence refers only to an established or semi-established mainstream person not someone getting into the biz because they want to.
If that is your clarification then you must include Jaimee Foxworth - she had a weekly role on a top 30 show for four years and then released more than ten porn titles. Like Scotty Scwartz, she was a child actor who transitioned to porn as an adult, but let's be honest - that is what you are going to get. You are not going to find Drew Barrymore or Madonna in adult films, but you will find fringe performers like Kira Reed who take the plunge and do one porn scene ("Basically Becca").
