I have a few female friends who had set up Manyvids pages in 2019, and they ended up transitioning to Onlyfans. One of them previously used C4S, which they found more successful than other websites (more on this below). I've also filmed and sold several myself.
-Definitely not easy. You're not only competing with free porn, you're also competing with tens of thousands of other content creators. But don't let that discourage you. Plenty are successful, and with persistence (and perhaps luck) so can you.-There's no secret answer to getting sales, but a few hundred downloads on Manyvids can take a while, depending on how you and the girl look and the types of videos you make, of course.
-A presence on multiple sites is always helpful. For example, one girl was a regular on a cam site and used that to fuel sales to Manyvids.
-If you're filming highly niche content, C4S is great. For one, her best selling video was a teeth fetish video, and was under a minute long.
-For my own sales, I posted a lot of preview clips on Reddit. There are plenty of subreddits with different kinds of niches. If you're not familiar with it, I can share some examples.
-I used to use Pornhub, Twitter and C4S. One of my short clips landed on the front page for a bit, and led to lots of short term traffic (this is where luck comes in). This was before the great purge.
-Twitter is a great place to promote. You'll need to be producing content regularly.
-Are you approaching this as a "couple making porn" or as you being a porn actor who has a rotation of girls? An approach I don't see often, but can be successful, is a "couple" who, every few videos, invites a girl.
-If you can get an established porn star, even not a highly popular one (a popular one would be very difficult to get, anyway), to shoot in a film, it will help drive traffic to your page. It may be worth the investment (think of it as a marketing cost, although this depends on where you live and if you have access to one. Collaborations with other Manyvids girls also helps.
-Contrary to popular belief, every single one of my friends had a hard time finding a guy partner to work with. They'll either cum too quickly, don't look good, have performance anxiety on camera, are afraid someone will recognize them (even if they don't show their face), can't handle a camera, can't give direction, etc. If you look good and can make good content, getting collabs will be easier, especially if a request comes from a female (easier, not easy, of course).
-I'm sure this goes without saying, but you'll need a decent camera and lights. There's plenty of YouTube videos that will tell you what to do, if you're not already familiar. 3 point lighting is the usual standard, unless you're going with a hobybuchannon type of look.
-For me, the videos were more successful if the girl promoted it rather than if I did (a guy).-I've done it and made money. It was a side hustle, so it wasn't anywhere near as much if I focused on it full time. Mostly, I did it as a favour to my friends, and we filmed quite a few during the pandemic to help their onlyfans sales.
-Re: your vision. Some things are more popular than others, and some things sell more than others even if they are less popular. Personally, I take inspiration from casting couch & marks headbobbers/handjobbers. But one that sold well for me was a girl vs girl type of video.
