A recent study has found that people are increasingly watching their porn on smartphones. In USA, 52% of people watched their porn on smartphones in 2013, which is a 5% increase from 2012.
The reason for this is probably privacy and convenience. Even at work you can watch a guy pork the nice lady's ass, without much fear of your boss seeing what you do and firing you, as long as it's your personal phone, and you sit in a corner, where no one else can see your screen.
You can sneak a quick peak at porn anywhere you want, as long as you hide the screen from other people. Which is pretty easy to do with a small, portable screen like that of a smartphone.
But this brings up a question of whether making High Definition porn movies serves the whole porn market well. Because the higher the definition of the porn movie, the more bandwidth it takes to transmit it to the viewer. And bandwidth costs money, a substantial amount of money for mobile phone users.
Porn viewers who watch their porn on smartphones probably deliberately avoid HD porn movies and try to find lower definition versions of these movies for their smartphones. Such lower definition versions of porn movies are mostly found on Tube websites that steal a lot of porn from porn producers.
Perhaps legitimate porn producers need to produce and sell lower definition versions of their movies especially made for smartphones. Because high definition doesn't improve the picture on a small screen. High Definition only eats up bandwith and computing resources, including the battery, without giving a better picture.
Tube websites with stolen porn are winning out, because they are providing a service that people want but can't get from legitimate porn producers. But this situation can be corrected to some extent, if legitimate porn producers start providing low definition of their porn movies for a cheap enough price to get people to pay. And people will probably pay, because legitimate website can provide a more convenient and easier to use service.
There were literally almost 15 billion movie-views last year even for one Tube website, such as HubPorn. Which means that getting people to pay even a few cents per movie can bring in a lot of money. And I'd say that allowing people to pay anonymously through PayPal rather than by credit card would do a lot to remove barriers to paying. Because a lot of people want privacy, and they don't want the possibility of someone going through their records later on and finding that they've been watching porn.
