Hey there everybody -

I'm looking to go with a multi-system, multi-regional, code-free play-it-all DVD player....

I've done a lot of research, and it's a bit tough to make the final choice, since you can't actually just stop by your local store and try it out, and it's hard to find solid reviews and feedback out there - that being said ...

Anybody here have either of the following?

Malata DVP-310
Malata DVP-500

Also, has anybody purchased from www.dvdoverseas.com? They appear to have very good pricing compared with everyone else - also appear to stand behind their offerings.

I'm also considering their new modified JVC XV-N5SL, since I like JVC products. However, the Malata seems to have more features for less $$$, and particularly has the ability to easily upgrade the firmware.

Any input at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the help, and thanks for the really great site here at ADT.

Mike

More of us have experience with the Sampo multi system players than the Malata's. See this thread for some info on the Sampo's. You can also do a search on "Sampo" and you will find a few threads on them.

Buy.com used to sell many Sampo models, but right now, they only sell one of them (about $65).

The above thread gives a link to "The Sampo Zone". They have lots of info on all of the Sampo's: who sells them (for how much), how to change the region code to make them multi-region as well as other things.

I own the DVE-681 and can definitely recommend Sampo.
