There really is no comparison, but I still believe a little something is missing like the pre-scene BTS footage and the hotel location. I think many of us who are big fans of Raw and Manuel's work in general are just a bit disappointed by some of the casting selections especially since there are roughly only 4 Raw releases per year. When some of the performances are repeats and some great performers are passed over for some not-so-great performers, I like a few others find myself turning to conspiracy theories. It's all constructive criticism and I think Manuel's work is some of the best in the industry, so I hold him to the highest standard. :) [Link] |

Raw made it look and feel a lot less like a standard setting porn scene. More intimate, deeper like when he gave the camera to some of the performers in the earlier Raw's for example Allie Haze, Kristina Rose and Samantha Ryan - a private sex tape. No distractions just a real meet.... intro and outro - a hotel room or the female performer's home - no gimmicks, no set props etc etc just a hand held camera 2 people meeting fucking and thats it Stimulating Simplicity I know it's still porn and not reality but after thousands of porn scenes it brought something different. these all newer scenes shot in Manuel's home which lack all the intro/outro's and in my opinion lose that original mood and tone from earlier scenes / the build up etc even though the sex can be powerful. Call it cheesy or whatever, but I really enjoyed the earlier scenes where he would pick up the girl for a 'date' before they'd go to a hotel room to fuck. Probably the most 'real' example of this was that mason moore in raw 6, where literally half or 3/4 of her scene was an actual beach date. You could feel their familiarity at first with their conversation, and slowly feel the sexual tension building up, and the resulting scene really popped for me. And really to this day, that scene still sticks out in my head, and I'll revisit it (even though mason moore isn't really my type of actress) because the chemistry is SO GOOD and so spontaneous in that sequence. I understand that the number of actresses that can meet that requirement with THAT level of familiarity with manuel, but there's at least one who can fulfill that threshold, and it was also why I was slightly underwhelmed with the Kayden scenes that I hope Manuel/Kayden will revisit at some point. Like for a porn powercouple who markets themselves as well as they do, I don't feel like they exploit/maximize the scenes in the ways that they can. Also, I think maybe don't revisit the same girls too often would be another general critique of mine? But then again, I don't know what his selection criteria is.....like sometimes I think it has to be a performer who has shown good chemistry with him....and then manuel might just pull a complete newbie random who I've never heard of. And it's like a double whammy, I don't want to watch somebody for a 3rd time with maneul or whatever (especially since the way the shots in his Raw films have been trending towards more conventional fashion), and similarly, I might not have the motivation to check out a complete unknown unless she is just off the charts hot (which doesn't happen very often). I think his choices recently have been good for the most part (kalina ryu, danica dillan, cherie deville were all very high on my list), but if he were going to take some chances on some unknowns, I just recently discovered Katrina Jade (and I think some people have already mentioned her), and I think from her twitter she would like to do it, I would just absolutely blow my load for days for that scene. Ava dalush is another one. And the really obvious one that I think most people want to happen is samantha bentley. I don't want to make it sound like I'm bashing the series, because it's still very much on my list of must watch no matter what, it's just things that I've noticed in the recent editions. Specially if great scenes come out of these shoots. He stated once or twice he only books the girls he worked with or jerked off to. He occasionally asks for suggestions on Twitter but we don't know if he really considers them. Personally, I think he entered a new phase of his career: except for Raw, all of his titles are now collaborations with Kayden. He ended his classic series "Evil Anal" and "Slutty and Sluttier" and created some new ones at Jules Jordan as Lensman. We also need to accept his best years are behind him, he still is the best male in porn and earned his place amongst the all time top 3 male performers but he no longer performs like the Manuel of old. Retirement may subconsciously be playing on his mind and I would prefer that he leaves on top rather than be the shadow of his former self. [Link] |
