The way he talks to the girls in some of his work is a complete turn off. Coupled with the gagging oral, the drooling, and just how mean he is, makes his work completely unstrokable most of the time. I remember renting one of his movies in the mid 90's that had Stephanie Swift on the cover. I had no idea who she was, but she was beautiful and I wanted to see her. The movie was unwatchable. Zero heat. It actually turned me off completely because it was obvious that he was just doing this to get off by hurting and degrading her.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy rough type porn sometimes too. Rocco is usually interesting to watch, but he is different. I don't think he hates women. I think he likes intense sex and wants to get intense reactions from the girls he works with. Some of the girls he works with want it very rough (like Kelly) and he gives it to them. The point is that Rocco doesn't set out to try to make a girl feel bad and Max does.

I've seen one Max scene that I thought was fairly hot, but even then it was borderline. The girl made all the difference: It was Tammi Ann's debut (as far as I know) scene in the industry. It's too bad she got strung out (or at least looking that way) and jaded. She was really something special when she started. The kind of girl that "lights up a room."

For what it's worth, I am from the area that he came from and where he owned some porno stores. A guy I worked with was trying to get an "in" with Max's brother, since Max's private video collection is supposed to be much more hardcore.

His early early stuff was watchable, to a point. I liked Tiffany Mynx's scene, her first. That was more because of Tiffany (or Angelica on the box, IIRC). Tiffany hated it though, and almost left the buisness.

I haven't seen a Max Hardcore joint in at least five years, but I will admit that 10-12 years ago I was sorta in his camp.

At that time, nobody was doing what he did, and in a sense he was kind of a pioneer. Like him or hate him, there's no denying that he had a fan base, AND an impact in the ever expanding growth of porn and its boundries.

What I liked about him:

He was the first guy that I saw get BEAUTIFUL women to do really nasty things, and with a regular, ordinary looking, Joe. When I recall some of his scenes with Lovette, C.J. Bennett, Sahara Sands, Davia Ardell, Brooke Ashley, Holly Landes , and others, I rmember them fondly.

He brought a new, aggressive style to fucking that hadn't been seen so much before.

What I didn't like:

The pre-pubescent little girl imagery. While I didn't mind his condescending attitude (as an act) towards his partners, or the nasty, sometimes abusive talk, I was definitely not down with the little girl themes. Thought that was sick and inappropriate.

His introducing me to medical implements and hardware tools in my porn. I don't need speculums, labia clips and vice grips in my porn.

His need to get a little sicker, stupider and more outrageous as time went on. This is why I drifted away from him five or six years ago.

Max Hardcore had\has his specific act. It is controversial. But I would argue that it was benefical in the sense that things he did on the fringe ten years ago have to a large degree been incorporated into main stream gonzo porn now. Most of the things he did are matter-of-fact in porn now. When you look at the aggressive pounding of the girls and the skull fucking, (especially from the Euro guys), the ATM's, those are all things that Hardcore was among the first to do 10-12 years ago. And all the people that are so in love with all this gaping and anal cavity exploration owe a real debt to Hardcore. He was at the vanguard of this stuff as well.

And the RACKS AND RACKS of teen girl themed movies that all production companies are making and that cram the porn shelves today have some basis in the stuff that Hardcore (and Ed Powers) were doing 10-15 years ago. (Even if everybody now hates Hardcore and Powers, SOMEBODY was buying that stuff and creating a market).

As far as his attitude towards his female partners, while it was rough and often mean spirited, it had been seen in porn before although not as dramatic. Jamie Gillis and John Leslie both had long porn acting careers where a disrespectful, SOMETIMES cruel and abusive attitude towards their partners was often part of the equation. Hardcore was a lurid extension of that.

He may be dated, if he is still doing his thing he is probably a cartoon by now, but it's hard to argue that Max Hardcore doesn't have a place in porn history, or a hand in the development of porn as we know it.

I don't like rough sex but that's not the reason for me to not like some one who makes it. I don't like him 'cause he treats women like garbage off screen as well. I've seen a documentary on dutch TV about some (I think british) chick who went to the US to shoot a scene with him, hoping to break through in Hollywood pornos.
Anyway, I watched this about 2 years ago and I am not sure what exactly the problem was, but IIRC, Max wanted to take a piss on her but she objected.
To make a long story short, that girl left his villa crying and emotionally drained. I don't remember what kind of bullshit he said to her, but it was ugly. He then commented that this is the hard reality of doing business, but even his co-workers were sort of embarassed. Maybe he's a good businessman, but I've been avoiding everything with him ever since.

i've watched couple of his more recent films, his new fetish with girls puking is just revolting, I have seen girls puke on his dick then another girl sucking it, yuks.
