As if he can't believe his ears he asks again and she says she wants DAP but repeats "the next time"... Rocco says "Are you sure"...May responds "yes". So either add black bars on top and below, or crop the image on the side. Otherwise, you get a 6% stretched image (1.89/1.78), as you already pointed out in the JJV thread... which is nowhere near the 10% you claimed there  .For the producers out there: either crop the image and remove 128 pixels on either side, or add 72 lines of black on top and bottom (for a 4096x2304 video) and then downscale to 384 hex 2160). Latter one is a worse option, since it obviously includes resizing artefacts. Option three: Since we are talking video files, the 16x9 aspect ratio is not a given anymore, so you could simply keep the 384 hex 2160 image without cropping (but obviously already with some vertical stretching) and set a 256x135 aspect ratio. Then the display device/player can figure out if it wants to add the black bars or do the side cropping... just sayin' [Link] |

Somewhere at the end of the MP4 file is a text 'pasp' sollowed by 12 bytes of data, usually 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 18 (1:1 pixel aspect ratio, the '18' value I don't know what it stands for.) Ok, now we need the 1080 pixels in height stretched to 1016 pixels. So instead of 1:1 the ratio should be 1:(1080/1016)... The values can only be integers, so we have to multiply each part of the equation by 1016 -> Aspect ratio should be 1016:1080. Now shorten the fraction to the lowest common denominator: 127:135 Finally, change the 10-based values back to hexadecimal values: 127=7Fh, 135=87h So, finally, at the place where currently 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 18 stays, it should read 00 00 00 7F 00 00 00 87 00 00 00 18. Do this only with a hex editor, and keep a backup copy of the file, just in case... If the file has no 'pasp', then a specialized tool must be used. If the values behind 'pasp' are not 00 00 00 01 ... (as mentioned above), then some additional calculations are needed. [Link] |
