I see that Arrow has put out a dvd of Memories Within Miss Aggie and I was just wondering if anyone has had a chance to look at it? If you have is the movie complete (I have seen a copy before, but have no idea if it was complete or not), and what kind of source does it come from, is it just a crappy transfer from a vhs tape, or is it from a film source? Thanks for any information on this dvd. This movie is really good I think and I'm hoping the dvd does the film justice.

Hi Dover

I've got this and, predictably, it's taken from an old VHS source. The image is cropped to fullscreen and very soft. I've only 'spot checked' the disk thus far so can't comment as to whether or not the movie is complete.

Incidentally, I've also got Arrow's release of Wet Rainbow and it's of similar quality. Neither disk has any extra's to speak of.

Thanks SDC, I was hoping to hear that this movie looked good on dvd, but it seems with the classics it's rare that they do look good. Guess I'll just stick with the Excalibur Films dvd I have of this movie, which sounds identical to the one put out by Arrow. I have a vhs tape of Wet Rainbow, which is of very good quality, better than most classics look on dvd, which makes it surprising that the DVD doesn't sound like it's as good of quality as the vhs, that is kind of strange.

Masters degrade over time I don't think that often much money is put in to creating more masters. Some classic releases have had extensive remastering (Arrow's Candy Stripers and Deep Throat for instance). Others have not and are clearly made from overused degrading masters (Arrow's Alice in Wonderland for instance). It's a shame but I question whether the money is there to remaster all the classic releases and whether any original masters exist for some of them. For some releases, what you see might be the best remaining source material. Archiving adult film masters I'm sure hasn't been a priority over the years.
