I have been trying all morning to move them to my hard drive. I always change the file name from DVC1234 (whatever number of photo it is) to something more descriptive as to what, where, and when the photo was taken. I keep getting a "can not change file name file is write protected" message on the photos. I have reinserted the card into my camcorder and have supposedly canceled the write protection for all files on the card three times now and I'm still getting the message. This is also not letting me delete any unwanted photos on the card and instead of moving the photo into a file on my hard drive it makes a copy of the file and sends that to the hard drive leaving the original still on my card instead. Is my memory card just fucked or is there some way to fix this? [Link] |

It's unlikely that it's NTFS, but what you describe sounds like a permissions issue. You are able to copy the files to your hard drive, so that's good. Can you change the file names once you have them on the hard drive? If so, you're probably all set. If not you might have to set permissions on the files on the hard drive now that they are there. As for the card, once you are certain you have all of your photos off of it, just reformat it with your camera's formatting utility. That should clear up any weirdness with the format. Take some new photos and try to transfer them and see what happens. If you still have issues, you might have a card issue, but it's hard to say without doing some testing as I have described. Good luck. Dr. P |
