We as humans are evolving to having less hair (some faster than others). Hopefully one day we'll have much less hair, at least body & pubic hair.

I trim the old fashioned way, with scissors.

Be careful with those. I actually had a seizure while I was doing that one time. That was (to say the least) a very interesting trip to the ER.

I think you got evolution wrong. Just because something has been a popular trend for 15 years, doesn't mean people who are less hairy survive longer and have more children than less hairy people. The same goes for the myth that humans will turn into soft squishy things with huge brains and weak fingers that can only push keyboard buttons. Unless there is a mechanism that ensures that fewer people with one particular trait survive until they are old enough to mate, there will be no increase of that trait in the population. You can use that brain all you want but that doesn't mean your children will have bigger brains.
Just a rant, but it needed to be pointed out...

I have found that as I age, I don't have much hair down there anyway (lost it about the same time I lost my head and armpit hair). When I was younger I would have to trim to keep the hairs from sticking into my flaccid dick, though. I do prefer women at least trimmed, though -- I don't like a mouth full of muff while giving cunnilingus, so I understand a woman wanting her man shaven instead of furred.

Simply shaving your hair for the next million years isn't going to cause Evolution to lessen your hair growth, because the hair you're cutting is already dead.
Instead, I'd say plucking the hairs continually (for a million years) might instill in your DNA (or whatever) that your body doesn't want hair in that area, and so Evolution will respond (perhaps over millions of years, but possibly only thousands) by depriving that area of your body of nutrients/blood needed to grow hair.
Inititally, though (short term) plucking your hair will make it grow in more determined and possibly thicker, since your body will sense that something traumatic and hostile is occurring to that area of the body, so it will need to spend MORE time trying to ensure the survival of that hair. Again, but over a longer period, your body will ultimately give up and realize the futility of its effort, and will surrender and focus its energies on other areas of greater importance to the contining health of your body.
Of course, I just made this shit up as I typed, but it sounds logical to me.

Your DNA doesn't change regardless of whether you cut a dead or living part of yourself.
Actually no, unless there is a mechanism that ensures that people who are naturally less hairy get more offspring (and you could actually argue that if everyone shaves such a trend would be even less likely to occur). You can't "instill" things in your DNA unless by a mutation (which wouldn't come from plucking, thats for sure). The only way left for DNA to change then would have to be from evolution by certain traits being favored by more people with those traits surviving (to have offspring).
Even if that was true for YOUR body (which I doubt) it still wouldn't change anything for your DNA and your offspring.
Not really, theres a lot of "useless" stuff in your body thats left over from millions of years ago. The reason the appendix doesn't bother everyone is because the people with the most problems with it actually died. There's no reason it will go completely away unless people don't have a big advantage without it and keep dying from having one.
I disagree so thats why I keep replying. Anyway, its an interesting topic.

My balls are completely hair free and I keep them that way. My upper pubic area is always down to a very close trim. If it feels like stubble, it's not going to feel good to her skin so I let it grow a little past stubble stage and then keep it that way.
Honestly, I did this well before noticing it in porn. I've been a runner my whole life and it just makes for far less chafing when you tuck all your junk in tight for a long run.

Evolution and the natural self-reprogramming and self-redesigning of a creature's genes over thousands/millions of years are what effect change in a creature. If a creature with a fat head continually struggles to squeeze himself into a tight spot in order to get food, then over thousands of generations that creature's body might "adapt" to the behavior by reprogramming its genes to create a more slender head. Those new, desired traits will be passed on to his/her offspring.
That is, in small part, how Evolution works. Creatures evolve out of necessity or due to environmental changes over time. Because we're all becoming lazy slugs in front of our computers, a thousand years from now we might have skinny stick arms, very long fingers for better typing, flat asses, huge heads and bigger eyes from all the blinkless staring at the monitor. Genes, DNA and Cosmic Matter that make up every being in existence... It's all one in the same.
I'm sure the appendix will someday be gone or somehow incorporated into something useful in the body. Maybe with all the "whole grains" everyone is eating these days, the appendix will be again be needed to process those wood-/leaf-like things.

I like being a man and looking like a man, I wouldn't want to go back to looking prepubescent in my genital area by shaving my pubes. I think I look good with a full bush.

I do from time to time. I keep it neatly trimmed, but if I got super close I do it all and I keep after it as the stubble does not feel good for the ladies. My girl likes it clean and smooth.
