Is this my punishment for daring to consider the cognitively impaired as sexual beings with minds of their own? There is no justification to assume by default that because a person is mentally retarded they are incapable of informed consent. That's something for doctors and carers to assess on a case-by-case basis. There are plenty who are deemed capable of living independantly and making decisions for themselves. I think people who react so negatively are reflecting their own personal discomfort with the idea of retards having sex. A lot of people seem to prefer to view them as asexual beings.
