Sorry that I ask the inane question.
I was just wandering what method or criterion you guys exert when it comes to purchasing a DVD. what is used as a main criterion for you (Cast,Name of company or Personal preference)
I have to say that I am not a guru of DVD so I might know how to buy a suitable and favorable DVD. Mostly, I has bought Vivid's DVD because of its guaranteed and recoginized picture quality though it's been regularly reprehended for bogus multiple angles and the degree of sex scene. I wanna know your viewpoints...

What makes me decide to buy a certain DVD? Well, I do look at the performers and the studio, but the main influence is word of mouth. If people here rave about a certain movie or highly recommend one, then I'll probably see it. If no one here has seen it, then I base my decision off of performers and studio.

That is a broad question with many possible answers. For myself it starts off with who is in the film, starlet wise, I don't care much who the guy is although certain ones seem to do the best work. Anyway I also look at what sexual acts are performed in the film, does she do anal, dp, facials, etc. For that I need a review which I usually get from Rog or from this site. Once I have the starlet I want, she does all I want in the film then I look for a good price and I usually have found the best price at Five Star although I have used DVD Extreme a couple of times, both are good. So I think it really depends on your tastes, you really need to like the starlet otherwise there is no need to get the dvd.

Not a inane question at all. I use two criteria: Starlet and Studio. I am not into adult movies as much as I used to be so I limit my purchases to the girls I know. Even then I only get those from a good studio. Not a big Vivid fan but I get all of Cassidey's movies. Wicked and VCA on the other hand are givens.

A completely random combination of star, studio, mood, and word of mouth.

My first triggers is the performers, followed by studio.
Then I do review search @ www.rame.net
Then I do scenes index hunting @ www.adultdvdempire.com
Then I do screenshots hunting @ www.adultdvdempire.com,
www.adultdvdxtreme.com and www.xonair.com
Then I do price search from www.adultdvdtalk.com.
The Last step is shopping!

Since DVD's are generally released after the video tape has been available for a while, by the time the DVD becomes available, I have already rented the video tape. Therefore I have a pretty good idea whether I want to own it or not.

99% of my purchases/rentals are based on who is in the movie, and what type of scene(s) they are in. I'm not a big fan of girl/girl only scenes, so if the girl that I am interested in is only in a girl/girl, I probably won't buy the disc (but I might rent the tape).

Even when the DVD comes out the same day as the disc, I might rent it before buying it if there is doubt. My local store rents DVD's, has a very good selection and has the discs as soon as the on-line stores have them (they are a distributor as well as a store).

Depending on the on-line price, I might then buy the DVD from my local store (all DVD's 29.99) because they will deduct the rental price from the purchase price if I want to keep the DVD.

In a few rare cases there will be a series that I will automatically purchase. This is currently the case with Anabolic's "Nice Rack" series. On tape, it used to be the case with the Seymore Butt's (until Taylor Hayes left), and Shane's World series'.

i usually look at the stars than the studios. I then read about the reviews on it.
