The question we need to ask is...What is popularity in this day and age? Is it the number of social media followers a woman has? Is it the number of cam shows she does? Is it the number of videos she has shot? I suspect that if a model is in demand and is willing to shoot as often as she can then I would consider her to be popular.

You've got physical media sales and website subs but that only says so much - you've got the media through which a porn actress sells her own content. OnlyFans, ManyVids and Patreon pages but then you've got custom content which I doubt a porn actress would be inclined to give detailed information about sales. Do you decide someone is less popular if she doesn't sell through one of those media?

Even with Mindgeek owning so much of the industry, there's so much industry fragmentation that I doubt you'd get unanimous co-operation in data sharing.

I'd genuinely be impressed if somebody could devise a definitive popularity index that produces little contention.

1) Pornhub rankings (though I believe these tend to favor more established performers over newer ones)

4) Number of scenes shot in x period of time
5) If she has a Reddit page, how active is it?
6) If she has an ADT thread, how active is it?
7) How many subscribers in her snapchat, onlyfans, etc.?
8) If she does cam shows, how many people watch?
9) Name recognition outside of porn?
10) Google search numbers on her name (are these available?)

None of these metrics are perfect on their own, but if I were an analyst somewhere in the sex industry and I wanted to know who the most popular girls are, this is the sort of data I would try to put together to get a broad picture. What these numbers really won't tell you though, is which new girls are up and coming. Or rather, they will tell you that if you understand that you need to separate newer girls from more established performers in your analysis. Basically, you want to make sure you're comparing apples to apples.

1-How believable are rankings when they come from one of the biggest content thieves on the planet whose parent company has a vested interest in promoting specific performers/scenes.

2-Instagram followers means very little because we don't know if they are all real and maybe most of those followers don't pay for porn so who cares what these people say.

4-Now this one is impossible to argue and probably the best one to use but unless the performers works for multiple years than will her popularity be more or less short term.

5-I have no idea what having a Reddit page mean but if it's anything like Instagram or twitter than I have already said why it means very little.

6-All I need to saw on this one is Mia Melano. A flash in the pan performer who worked for one studio and has shot less than 10 videos in a year before leaving has a thread that makes most popular performers look like like poor cousins.

7-A good one but how believable is the info and can it be verified

So basically performers have to use the services of the people who stole their work to get more traffic and maybe hoping that they will stop stealing from them but sadly I doubt that thought ever crosses the mind of PH owners. They may be called Mindgeek but they are neither.

For my taste the lists are much too short , but I understand that they must keep it like that because of the many sub-categories .

__ There is also the Freeones ranking list , but it is not very reliable , and not very user-friendly either .... ( + no separate list for best newbies )
