the only site i know is gloryhole.com. i was surprised to see their shoots located all around me, almost within walking distance, but i don't like their content. there is the video 18 and Lost in Detroit, which i didn't watch. is that all the porn that has ever been shot in michigan?
I just looked at the gloryhole site. The only possible appeal for Michigan porn to me would be the fact that I love Michigan women (I spent most of my teen years in Toledo). It looks like they mostly have the same girls every other porn site has. Edited by - randomprecision on 2/24/2010 8:14:58 PM
You won't find much porn in Michigan because sex outside of a legally recognized marriage is an automatic five years in prison here. If either of the participants is married to someone not in the scene, that is an additional four years, automatic -- if you are found guilty, the judge doesn't have discretion -- you go to prison for at least five years!!! Sorry, but even I wouldn't make porn in this legal environment!
"Automatic" five years in prison? Come on. You really expect us to believe that every cheating spouse and every unwed couple gets five years in the slammer without a trial? That's ridiculous.
Many states have laws like that on the books, they are seldom, if ever, enforced. I've lived in Michigan for 15 years, and have never heard of that law, let alone anyone enforcing it. It's almost surprising that there's not more porn shot in Michigan. With Windsor (and its legal escorts) right next door, you'd think you'd find a lot of willing actresses.
Most people here fuck in the privacy of their own homes with the shades drawn, so they don't get caught. Some counties enforce it and some don't. If you stay in the bigger cities (Grand Rapids, Detroit, Traverse City) you have a better chance of the prosecutor not prosecuting you. I knew a former sex crimes prosecutor from GR, and she was "encouraged" not to prosecute these types of crimes. However, in my neck of the woods (between Muskegon and Ludington) you don't advertise that you are fucking outside of marriage and everyone knows the law (and likely fuck like minxes in private). "Automatic" means when you get caught and found guilty, it is not like cops have cameras in everyone's bedroom just waiting to catch someone having sex. Porn, however, is not something you can do without exposing yourself to prosecution in Michigan -- period (on top of fornication, you could face 20 years for prostitution)! As for cheating, if your spouse files for divorce and cheating is alleged, it hits the prosecutor's desk and you could be in trouble.
If this is the same gloryhole site I'm thinking of, all the scenes appear to be shot near me in Texas. Now, as I recognize most of the actresses as being porn pros and have a reasonably good idea that not all of them are from Texas, I've come to the conclusion that there's something in the website's coding that traces your IP addresses and supplies names of nearby cities. I don't know if that's possible, or how hard it would be, but I know there aren't that many gloryholes in Sachse, Wylie, Rowlett, and Seagoville.
News to me, I remember that Newaygo and Oceana county were prosecuting adultery and fornication into the late 1990's. I have lived here since 1984 and read the court news in my local paper -- it lists names and charges as well as where the case is in prosecution. I am interested in seeing where your figures came from. I also note that you say nothing about fornication, which was the more often charged crime. Lots of people have been convicted of fornication here since 1971!
^How about this instead: Since you know the local newspapers and where the info might be found, can you find some of the cases about which you are speaking? I googled a number of items, and all I could find was the 1971 statistic. Here's the link: link It's not the greatest, but it wasn't easy to find anything really on the subject.
I have never heard of this site before. If I get to the Fremont or Hart libraries, I will try to remember to look this info up. Seriously, it is too much looking at microfiche to do without a university research grant to pay for my time. I don't keep my newspapers and don't remember exact dates, but I remember seeing it on more than many occasions. I will agree with you that most people probably get away with fornication now and have been for years. Usually charges result from a acrimonious divorce or another crime and the fornication charges are added to up the prison sentence -- at least from my conversations with assistant prosecutors when I was at Grand Valley State. Lifetime for adultery is new to me, I was under the impression that it was five years minimum and no maximum. Also, police don't have the right to be peeping toms and look in windows looking for fornicators, I did not mean to imply that. This law does prevent porn, however, as it is too easy for cops to catch as there are large entourages involved in making porn and this makes them easy for cops to locate and prosecute -- with the Moral Majority that runs Michigan cheering all the way (the biggest hypocrites around if you ask me)!
^ I didn't mean for you to go to the library and sort through microfiche. I was thinking that some of your sources might have an online presence. It does strike me as odd that I could find no meaningful google results on the subject, though. One other note here -- just to add to the conversation -- the Lawrence v. Texas Supreme Court decision appears to have cast some doubt on these type of consensual sex laws (i.e., fornication, adultery, etc.) As such, it's even less likely that a prosecutor would try to enforce one now. Again--not really relevant to porn so much--but to the situation in general.
I heard of that Texas Supreme Court decision -- a Michigan prosecutor would argue that they are in a different Federal Court District and that the decision doesn't apply since it never made it to the Federal Supreme Court in D. C. As for online records of the Times Indicator, those only go back very recently or so -- as I said earlier, prosecutions of fornication not porn-related likely stopped before then. Oceana's paper, the Oceana Herald-Journal is in the same situation -- their online records go back only to 2001. Edited by - mharris127 on 2/27/2010 3:03:30 AM
^ It did finally make the Supreme Court or I was thinking of a different case. Sorry. I wouldn't put it past Michigan prosecutors to try to find a way around it or just charge prostitution instead if someone attempted to film porn in Michigan. Porn carries 20 years in prison (I don't know if it is a probation optioned offense). Go to Grand Rapids courts and you will see prostitution prosecutions almost daily. I would bet Detroit is the same.
^Prostitution would seem to be the most likely avenue of attack. I believe that it's what they used to do in CA before the CA Supreme Court decision that legalized filming porn in CA.
