"While some major federal agencies are having second thoughts about internally deploying the Windows Vista operating system on their computers, technology officials at the U.S. Department of the Interior appear set on eventually migrating their 70,000-plus PC users to Microsoft's latest operating system. ..."

"... However, the Department of the Interior still needs to iron out some compatibility issues before it installs the software on its computers. "Vista should not be used until formal testing and approval is complete," the bulletin notes. Further, new PCs purchased by the department "must default to
Windows XP until Windows Vista has been approved."

The department's apparent readiness to embrace Windows Vista stands in contrast to the approach taken at some other federal agencies. The
Federal Aviation Administration, for instance, may pass on upgrading its 45,000 desktop and laptop computers from Windows XP to Vista in part because of compatibility concerns, according to FAA CIO Dave Bowen.

The U.S. Department of Transportation, meanwhile, has placed a ban on Windows Vista upgrades until it can be sure the operating system satisfies compatibility and security requirements, according to a recent DOT memo. "

All according to 99.99% of businesses' 'Purchasing Core Strategy', and most probably even regular 'Operational Supply Chain & Purchasing Management' protocol ("buy when you know what it is you're buying, and buy according to researched needs", think "SLS" here).

Sorry; I probably miss the point your trying to make?
