Before I do, I should mention that Mike is easily my favourite director and one of only five directors that I follow these days. Firstly, the gaping is generally very good. The only complaint I would have is when Mike tries to stretch the girls assholes with his fingers actually around the asshole. This does not help the gaping process and it certainly isn't pleasing to the eye. This was more prevalent in Mike's earlier Evil Angel films, it's not much of an issue these days. Secondly, Mike's love of stripey rainbow panties used to be a minor issue. Sometimes they would render scenes unwatchable (eg: London Keyes, Katie Summers and Angelina Valentine)and other times I was able to learn to tolerate them (eg: Jessie Volt,Katie St Ives and Rachel Roxxx). One thing is certain though, every one of those scenes would have better off without them. Starting with The Spit & The Speculum, Mike had seemingly tossed the tutti frutti panties aside and he gave us a great run of films all the way through to Anal Bombshells. This period featured some of his best ever works, including Anal Gaping Sluts, Anal Intensity, Anal Overdose 2 and Up her Asshole 2. Apart from a small glitch involving pink gloves, things were looking better than ever. I should stop and mention that I really think Up Her Asshole 2 is definitely one of the best films he's made and Kristina Rose's scene is the best of the year so far. Anal Bombshells was somewhat of a disappointment, but the Jynx Maze and Remy Lacroix Mr Anal scenes were simply outstanding. Anyway, getting back to the point... Mike's recent practice of keeping his clothes on has been deal breaker for me. He completely ruined The Tanner Mayes Mr Anal scene, by keeping his jeans on and wearing a bulky belt buckle which interfered with the penetration shots. Slurpy Throatsluts is waste of time. Leaving his pants on kills any BJ scene for me, even the incredible performances by Lily Labeau and Shane Dos Santos can't be saved from the ridiculous white belt and a pair of jorts. Things appear to be getting even worse. The Lily Labeau Planet Anal scene is virtually unwatchable. I'm amazed that some people actually think that the pants thing is not a distraction. It's not only distracting, but it genuinely interferes with the BJ and penetration shots. There is a particular moment in Lily's Planet Anal scene where Mike's fucking her in doggy and the camera is positioned on like a 45 degree angle and the penetration shot is almost completely obscured by a pocket from the jorts. Thankfully, there were no Jorts in Lily Carter's scene. But, I thought the tease was lacking, there was no BJ (maybe they used the footage for Slurpy Throatsluts) and a couple of strange edits. One of Mike's weaker efforts similar to Remy Lacroix in Anal Bombshells. Hopefully he'll shoot her again for Mr Anal and give us a great scene like he did with Remy. The hard-working lady/ladies, who are the true stars of these scenes, deserve to be rewarded handsomely at the end of the scene in some way. This gives me the impression sometimes that his movies are more about him than they are the ladies cuz he has to be in every single scene and still has not done any girl/girl which some of us have been suggesting for quite some time. I don't really want to believe that his movies are all about him cuz he doesn't seem like a bad guy or a total asshole in reality but I can't help but think that sometimes. That being said, he doesn't really try to upstage the ladies in his performances by acting like a jackass or yelling shit out when he cums like the "Dropping Loads" guy (which would put him on my unwatchable list) so I just deal with it as long as there's hotties in his movies. The reason I offer my opinion here is in hope that he makes improvements cuz I feel like his movies are close to being up there with my all-time favorites, and that's despite these criticisms so you can clearly see that I still think very highly of him as a director.
