I agree, I do prefer the more simple formula to Mike's scenes. I mean, they all work for me regardless, but some more than others. Case in point, I watched Ashley Fire's scene for 'Anal Perverts' the other day and it was exactly what I wanted - an hour long scene, with a bit of build-up and tease for about 15 minutes, no excessive oral, and straight down to ass-fucking for a solid 45 minutes in some great positions and plenty of great camerawork. Bottom line, it built up momentum quick and once the fucking started, it didn't let up with any interruptions. It was my ideal scene, and not least because Ashley just works it perfectly with her passion and lust like she does in every scene. My understanding of how Evil Angel does business, is that Evil is just a distributor of its director's own work. So it takes a fee for distribution, which is probably worth it because of the prestige of the brand. But the directors are responsible for financing their own movies, and are entitled to sales, minus the distribution fee. So I doubt that the addition of another director has any bearing on the output of another director. If Mike Adriano cuts back from his recent 3 movie a month pace, it probably has to do more with sales than anything else. That said, I'm all for a ban on prolapse-themed movies, lol.
I don't know the figures obviously but cutting back to one release a month doesn't make sense as a business plan for me. It might maximise DVD sales but I imagine the people who subscribe to his website or the people like me who subscribe to EA mainly for his stuff would probably cancel their subscriptions if that became the norm. It doesn't necessarily follow that we would buy up all his DVDs either because if I had to buy each one individually I would skip some that I didn't fancy that much. Then there's the fact that I could name around a dozen unreleased scenes Mike has shot recently. When you factor in that we only find out about maybe half the scenes in his DVDs ahead of release then that's maybe 20 scenes waiting to get out there. Obviously it makes no financial sense to shoot enough scenes for 3-4 films and only release 1. To finance a shoot, pay the girls etc then not release the scene. It says on twitter that Mike went to Florida a few days ago. So maybe he's taking a well earned break. 3 releases a month is a lot to maintain when you're director and performer. I know everyone jokes how he's a lucky bastard shagging all these fit women bit shooting a scene at least every other day must take its toll. My guess he's held a few scenes back for August to cover his break. He's cut back on the July releases to allow EA to focus on the return of Jay Sin then back to 2 or 3 releases a month in August.
