Wrong, far fewer people want to download lower quality videos - 720P and below now that 1080P and in many cases 4k video is becoming available on many sites. This wouldn't happen if people were content with lower resolution/lower quality 720P videos. I have no problem buying additional hard drives either.
It's nothing to do with the file size or resolution. For example, Hardx scenes are 1080p / 4K, but they are juddery as hell, like the video is missing frames. Jules Jordan scenes are 4K, but there is noticeable judder when there is movement - this didn't happen in his earlier videos. Put simply, there is something fundamentally wrong with how studios are filming/processing/uploading videos these days - with a few exceptions (Dogfart's quality is excellent). I'm no expert - but I think it's to do with bitrate, FPS and file compression. How can people not notice that video quality is getting worse, not better?!
^ The judder you experience has nothing to do with resolution and filesize, but frame rate. JJ, HardX and others are filming at 24 or 30 frames per second, as is the case with normal television (30fps) or cinema (24fps). Experienced cinematographers know about the judder, and hence avoid too fast horizontal pans, as they increase the perception of these judders. Dogfart (and Lubed.com, Holed.com, too) film at 60 fps, hence the more life-like appearance. Not all people like this, though. In cinema this was only tried once yet, in the new Hobbit movies in HFR (High Frame Rate), and people were complaining all over the place that it didn't look cinematic anymore, but rather you felt to be on a theater set. Now for porn, this is likely what the spectator wants.... Also, 10 years ago or so, the situation was a bit better this way, as scenes can also be captured instead of 30fps with 60fps in interlaced mode. The storage and bandwith requirements are the same, as in interlaced mode only half the resolution is used, for double the frame rate. In the first frame, you only have the even lines, in the next frame the odd lines. the lack of smooth frame rate is a big issue for me, it puts me off HardX scenes and those guys. sometimes it feel like those rates are lower than the old standards, some early 2000s scenes look smoother to me. for sex I think you need higher frame rates, or you should at least have that option. for film it doesn't work, as said, high frames rates look too real and you get the soap opera effect in films like The Hobbit, you could see every bit of makeup. judder kills a scene in my eyes, especially during the sex. to be fair I only notice it badly in some of Adriano's scenes, like a whole scene might seem to have an especially low frame rate, but by and large his stuff is just high enough to accept. there something about HardX stuff my eyes don't like.
