Mike's house in the hills looks to be pretty private from the way it's situated - those walls surround the entire back and sides of it and pretty much hide everything from view. The neighbors would probably be at least 50 feet away on either side, and the house to the back is probably even further than that, not to mention the fact that his place would likely border the neighbor's backyard. Wow what a shame...cannot believe Mike won't be in the scene with her. Especially since it took years and years for Emily to start doing B/G.
