The tools are available to everyone, and my advise would be that you never post an image on a public site without first doing a little manipulation at least to get the color balance and contrast right. Whenever I take screengrabs from your movies, I make a duplicate layer, run auto-levels on the top layer, and if the colors end up popping to the point that it seems artificial, I lower the transparency of the top layer. (I could get the "duplicate-layer; auto-levels" into a single keyboard command by recording a macro.) After that, I use the auto-crop tool to get the 3:2 ratio that I use for all of my screengrabs. It takes about 30 seconds, with the hardest part being deciding exactly how much of the upper layer to mix in with the original image. Sometimes auto-levels distorts the colors, and I need to play with the color balance to restore the original palette while still getting the better looking image. This might add a minute to the task. Rotating an image take about 3 seconds (including the time needed by the computer to do the save at then end). The posting process takes a lot longer than 3 seconds. Now that I'm done griping, for the benefit of all the fans out there: BTW, the colors are way too bright on this image, and the background is burnt out. I don't come here to plug movies for my company. Click to expand The first time, I rotated an image posted by a professional in this industry was for Dana Dearmond about 24 hours before. It was annoying, but I did it quietly. After all, she is a porn star, not a director, so her job description doesn't call for knowing anything about image processing. The second time, I was annoyed by the pattern, and voiced my annoyance that a professional didn't attend to a 3-second job, and that in 30 seconds, he could have done something to start to address the fact that the image was so badly burnt out. Porn has a reputation for low-quality. It is deserved in many cases, in some cases it is not. This reputation contributes to all sorts of problems. People who would never steal a copy of "Titanic," wouldn't think twice before stealing "Double Decker Sandwich 13." They firmly believe that "Titanic" is worth the $5 rental fee, and that James Cameron, Leo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet are all very talented people who tried their best to make a good movie. Torrent sites are a real threat to your livelihood. Most people aren't thieves by nature; before stealing something they need to create a justification in their mind that makes it OK (if only in their minds) to steal. In the case of porn, one of these justifications is, "This shit ain't worth $5." Am I being pompous right now? Probably yes. Does my pomposity threaten your livelihood? Probably not. Does porn's reputation for low quality threaten your livelihood? Probably yes. Does posting pictures sideways contribute the low-quality reputation? Yes. Does calling a supporter of the industry a "dick" help porn's reputation? Probably not. I may be pompous, but my friends still love me. I may screw up sometimes, but my clients know that I always try my best. I'm a big fan of Julia Ann's, but I don't really care for Mike's work. This is probably just a matter of taste, and isn't a reflection of the care Mike puts into his work. But every single picture I've ever posted on the internet was right side up. Images speak more clearly than words. When Mike posted an image sideways, did he say, "I always do great work?" Calling me a dick doesn't solve contribute to your careers. It's simply mean-spirited. I've never downloaded anything from a torrent site, and I'm not looking for a way to justify such an action to myself. But if I were, "The guy who made this movie thinks I'm a dick, and even said so twice" would be all the justification I would need. That pimple I pointed to on Mike's face might be a tumor. Maybe I was a dick to point it out, but he would be wise to have it looked into. This is a silly dispute, so I won't engage in it any further. So go ahead, have the last word.
