Using a digital camera requires reading the owners manual. Add the fact that celluloid is an expensive recording medium and that means that if you are going to invest in a film than you want to make sure that your money won't be wasted filming the same scene 20 times. Hollywood could afford a few F.. ups but I don't think the same could be said for porn made in the 70's and 80's. A director had to make sure that a scene would turn out right within very few shots so lighting, sound, camera shots were all planned ahead of time and they used actual dialogue that was rehearsed. That meant hiring people that could act as well as have sex. Today you hire the flavor of the month. You hire the well equiped nameless stud since most shots are going to be crotch level anyway. You don't rehearse the scene because the dialogue isn't important. You decide that you are going to be an avant-garde director and film the scene continously for 45 minues and than edit some bits to cut it down to 30 minutes. Of course the edit is mostly the dialogue since no rehearsal meant crappy dilaogue. The sex scene didn't need editing because you are F..G Cecil.B.Demile with your digital camera and with a 30 minutes scene than you can sell you dvd for more money because it has over 2 hrs of action. I know there are talented porn performers that could make great movies that could equal porn from the 70's and 80's but that requires a studio and director with talent. I don't believe studios were pumping out a new film once a week like they do today. So, they had more time to develop their project. Today, it's just grab a handful of people and film them fucking. How much can you really get invested in a "character" when it's only like 3 minutes before the fucking? These milf story lines are retarded... plus, the "younger guy" looks the same age as the Milf.
