It is so unreal how the whole AEE thing gets so misconceived by people. For isntance when I had the Vegas trip all planned and to attend the AEE and booked it, everyone where i work was either disgusted thinking "Oh this must be a convention for perverts" or "So you are going to bang a porn star?" And then when I explain the whole thing to them they think "Ya ok, so will there be a big orgy going on in the hotel rooms?" Then when i get back it is "So did you get lucky with any of them? No? Man I would have been in there for sure" The best is those who thought it was all disgusting and shit..first question upon returning to work was "Did you bring the pictures?" And still the things people assume. I say "Lots of women there" and it is "Ya they must be whores or wanting to try to get into the business" So closeminded people are I tell ya. Mind you I have 3 co-workers now who borrow my dvd's each week. Yet they were the ones who used to say "You got a porn problem" Ok guys and who watches them more than i do now? LOL Reminds me of the days of being a DJ at strip clubs and meeting women out at the nightclubs. "What do you do?" "I DJ" "Oh ya where?" and I tell them and the reaction is "You are a pig" They would think I was doing the strippers...Like whatever. LOL
i agree when i showed some of my friends the pics form the show they were liek they have clothes on weres the naked girls weres the sex the pussy i am like they wear clothes they cnat get naked and they dont have sex they are like sure why did you go then i am like bcause i wanted to meet the girls i watch....meet peopel in the indusrty i so want to leave my life here and juust take the risk of finding work in the industry .. then my firends are like why do you want to work in that i am like it is a fun life and i feel the peopel are more real than i will ever meet around here ....
I will say ditto to this comment and also remind everyone that has a problem that it is not a billion dollar industry because only a "few people" are buying/renting/watching the movies.
First off, JennaRulez, I hope you had a good time!
As a Brit, I find the visitors to the AEE very heartening. The first year I went, it really blew me away just how many middle-aged couples and older people were there on fan days, meeting the performers, posing for pictures, that kind of thing. It just reinforced the fact that no, AEE is not all about sketchy men in long raincoats. And then there's the number of guys in wheelchairs who the girls make special time for, jumping off their stands to autograph and pose for pics. Just outstanding.
As for workmates all assuming you get laid, well, I get the same question. The depressing fact is, unless you're paying, the only people who get laid at porn conventions are porn performers!
But you still have your photos, and let's face it, no-one's going to believe you *didn't* get laid now, are they?! ;-)

hahah, I loved it at the AEE. getting to converse with the stars and I always treat them as regular people as they are just that. Jenna Haze, Nicole Sheridan, Ashton Moore and Jesse Capelli were so personable. Ashton and I were laughing and talking about when she came up here to T.O. before and stuff. I felt that I should go becuase i was holding up the line and she said "Don't worry I am here for 3 hours, I enjoy chats with my fans like this" Things like that make it all the worthwhile for attending. Crazy how people think that it is one big orgy. And oh forget if you were to actually know a porn star, they think that you can get laid with them anytime. Ignorant people. As for the crowd? I was surprised at the amount of women there. I did not know what to expect.

Yup, same thing here...shame people don't know much about what it is you're attending. The great unknown is the biggest fear to many.
I don't feel compelled to explain my personal business to people, even good friends, much less explain that just b/c these girls may be "whores" or "fuckpigs" (their words, not mine) on camera,...doesn't mean they don't have S/O's outside of the business.
I just go for pictures, and there were many girls I hit day after day in different outfits, rather than spend time hitting up different stars that I really never watched (yet?), or even heard of. That's what made it most satisfying for me, the very same reason I went.
Mind you, I've been watching porn for about 11 years now (since I was 15), and I was flabbergasted when I saw Avy Scott on the same flight with me out of Philly. Even with what few strip clubs I've been too, most of the girls are house during my visits.
Twas fun, indeed...now if the talent appearing is as good in years to come, I'll continue to go. But it's something I can see myself outgrowing after a while.
It's a shame that people can't understand that outside of porn, porn stars and porn workers have regular lives outside of the industry.
I don't even discuss my forays into the porn world with people most of the time. Mostly because I get tired of trying to explain things to em. I just tell people if they want to know then they should go.

Shit, I'm no seer, but even I got the aire that some of these girls have monogomous relationships outside of their work, information which really isn't any of my business...but nonetheless, evidence to the nay-sayers. Regardless, whomever they're fucking...on or off-camera, mama taught them manners and most of the girls I ran into are bigger sweethearts than some of the ignorant c**ts I went to high school with.

Eric you said it so perfect. When i was talking with Ashton Moore I thought wow this girl is sweeter and smarter than the idiotic chicks I have known for years. Practically every one of the women i met there were awesome to talk to. And thr disrespect they get is unreal by the ignorant people who are so closeminded. But like at my place of work, they all were making smartass commetns before i went to Vegas..now they want to see the pictures. I have never attended any of these porn expos or conventions, and have really never had any interest in them. Personally, I just don't see the point of them. But anyway, I can certainly understand how it is common to have these "misconceptions." After all, we are talking about people whose livelihoods and identities are built on nothing but sex. Thus, it ought not be surprising that orgies and all-out sex is the first thing that pops into peoples' heads when you mention a convention full of people who earn a living by fucking. To me, that reaction should be expected.

I don't know if idiocy has anything to do with it. Most of the girls I've prone myself to are just outright bitchy. It was a breath of fresh air to meet some ladies who appeared down to earth, regardless their profession.
As for the disrespect, I hope I don't overhear it. I have a tendacy to get involved when people get verbally disrespectful with girls that don't deserve it...the "knight in shining armour" syndrome, if you will.
Realtip, like Huggins and so many porn haters in the past on this forum, you've shown what appears to be "these girls are nothing but whores" attitude here. So your judgement is understood considering your closed-mindedness, but not shared. "Duh, all we do is fuck on film for a living, so therefore we must do it day in & day out, and we should expect that people will treat us like guttersluts on the outside"...what a crock.
Of course all of these people in the biz are real people, and most are fun to talk to, but I honestly believe that many of you here are turning a blind eye, or at least playing dumb, when discussing what happens in Vegas convention time. I can't think of any of these conventions where I didn't return with pics from a few parties each year that had turned into a naked or sex party. Now granted this isn't something than any average convention-goer can usually luck into, but hey, they do happen and more than you may believe. It wasn't that long ago that, for example, people came to the conventions solely in the hopes of getting in one of Anna Malle's parties or such-and-such's party - you get the idea. What is spoiling, or possibly justifying coming when questioned by your friends or better half, is the incredible number of organized company parties which overshadow the real Vegas porn get-togethers where usually nothing happens beyond meet and greet and sometimes photo opps.
There is a reason they say What Happens In Vegas Stays In Vegas - it is because something Happens!
And for those of you who are asked if you got laid in Vegas: just smile and say nothing and let 'em wonder 'cause, after all, anyone can get laid in Vegas if they really want to, right? YOU came for the parties and to become "one with the industry" - in person! For a few days, anyway...

We're not turning as blind an eye as you think Bob, at least I'm not that gullible. The point being made was that I (we?) don't believe the industry folk are like that on a daily, 24/7 basis.
I've heard the stories of girls going at it right in the middle of a party, shit happens. It wouldn't surprise me in the least, but at the 2 parties I attended...none of that happened, but I did get flashed (top & bottom) a few times, which was plenty good enough for me.
The old Vegas addage has been my response to many an inquiry, because I don't feel my business is anyone else's. If I choose to talk about it, so be it. If someone else does, oh well...
Like I said, I was happy taking pictures. That has been my life outside of my job for the past 9 years. So to do it in an industry I've been an external part of for the past 10+ years was a renewal in life, which is easy to say since I lost my job 2 days before Christmas. A week after the fact now, life goes on, and I'll look forward to next year's convention...
Speaking of pictures...unfortunately I had to miss the convention this year but the pics I have seen from people from the show seem incredibly watered down. It looks like every girl wore pasties, there was very little flashing, and so on. Did it seem that tame on the convention floor as the pics I have seen indicate? Just wondering...

I saw a fair amount of flashing, I'll give it that. But considering it was my first outing, I have no comparison. The whole trick of it was beating the rude bumrush of cameras to the "peek-a-boo" shot of the day for many girls. Whereas I always tell fellow friends to ALWAYS carry a camera, I faltered on my other rule...always have it turned on, aimed, focused & ready to shoot.
Most of the flashing, mind you, was found at the smaller discrete booths. Crissy Cums & Annie Cruz put on a good lip lock, and Annie herself put on a good show for fans on the tamest of days, Sunday, as well. There were at least half-dozen others who flashed that I saw. Details, you had to be there...

I felt like the show was more tame this year. There was a letter circulated to talent prior to the show that they had to have nipples covered, no flashing, or throwing of objects from booths or they would be arrested. Not only that, there were the insane ID checks and stamping of hands any time talent, exhibitors, or press entered the floor. In my opinion, its time for the adult community to take their money elsewhere for the annual January expo. Its fine if Vegas wants to be a 'family friendly Disneyland' sort of place, but they don't have the right to harass the adult industry. I understand the need to have rules, but this year it felt like downright harassment of the 'we don't want your kind here'.

As for implication -v- expression, one doesn't have to wear a sign saying "You're a whore" in order to imply it.

To MAG, I agree in that nature. As a spoken-for society anymore, we're way to family friendly. Next thing will be horror movies and how to water them down. I don't know if it's Vegas that wants "our kind" there, as they're part of a state which supports prostitution & gambling (not implying these girls are whores). I hate to tally it up to the moral majority once again, but it's way this entire country is going. :(
I think they need to have it somewhere down south (Alabama, for instance) & really stage a ruckus! That'd wake these fools up to the First Amendment. :)

Bob, this was discussed earlier. It's believed they might have just changed the name & moved it around a couple times. The last time it was in AC was 2004 to my knowledge, b/c I know I missed it then. Last year, it was in B'more...and rumors for the longest time were it was being moved to Miami. Miami makes the most sense, since most east coast porn (internet?) seems to be produced in Florida, as far as I know.

Hmm maybe hold it up here in Canada in Toronto? Our laws are a bit more relaxed in regards to topless, flashing etc. It is not against the law here in Toronto for a woman to walk around town topless. This was a big debate in the mid 90's and is fully legal. Also our strip clubs, the girls bare it all, we have lap dances and private booths. Also group sex is considered legal when it is organized as was a court case recently that ruled swingers clubs, group sex etc is legal in Canada. click here Now this may all change with a new Prime Minster in ofice come Monday after our election but I really do not see it. They can hold the AEE at the metro Toronto Convention Centre easily. Or at Exhibition Place inside the newest Trade building built about 6 years ago. And hey the Smut Capital Of Canada..Montreal is just a 5 hour drive east on Highway 401. Easy access.

I wouldn't at all call it large...it's just the east coast version of AEE & such. Hardly comparible...
I don't know B'more, much less where it would have been held. I live an hour north of Philly...and I don't even know where they held it when it was in AC.
It wasn't just a porn show. It was a general video trade show. This year I believe it was supposed to be in New Orleans but plans may have been scuttled because of what had happened to the city.

Erotica LA is a cool convention. I went in 2004 and I really enjoyed it. Yeah, there were some rude people there (some of them said nasty things to my fiancee), and those people give all porn fans a bad name, but overall is was great. I hope to go this year, but I'm not sure right now. If you get the chance, you should definitely go.

I was caught off guard when they asked for ID and then again in line and then again if you left and came back. Was a bit much. But then again this is my first time there so I figured it was just routine. I guiess it was not like this last year? I get the feeling Vegas is becoming like Florida was with the Spring Breakers. Lure them there and then after a few years make them feel unwanted and hope they go elsewhere and want families to come to town. This was my first time to Vegas, and flying too so a triple first. But if Vegas is going the family route, then Sin City will become way too commerical then I would say. The clubs are already too upscale for my liking. No way I am paying $30 to get into a place and have $10 watered down drinks. I may as well hit our snobby clubs in Toronto for that LOL. What was the Expo like previously and how long has it been on it's own. I know it was sort of part of the CES. When did AVN break it off to be on its own?
