The recent "50 Shades" books phenomenon, a mix of erotica, kind, and story has become wildly popular. Hopefully this opens the door for many of us to introduce or re-introduce our previously uninterested wives, who have gotten a taste of porn, to video. Do any of my porn-land friends have any recommendations? Are the porn producers working on movies to take advantage of this phenom? We will see a new genre where kinky episodes such as those described in the trilogy are presented on movies? Wouldn't it be great if our previously reluctant wives became porn fans?
Any comments?

^ If they're reading 50 Shades, then they're already porn fans. Just fans of really bad porn (seriously, it's really terribly written).
Reading porn and watching porn are two totally different experiences, so I should imagine transitioning from literary to moving image porn will not be as simple as you want it to be. Plus, women have been reading porn for centuries - 50 Shades just brought it to the forefront of the national consciousness. It's nothing new.

My other half-sometimes my better half-has her nose in that Kindle every night and that's fine. She skipped on a chance to get 50 SHADES OF GRAY and I guess if folks like GGG keep slamming the book she'll wait quite awhile longer.
I can tell you that my other half has seen some of the old classic porn flicks and likes a few of them. Newer stuff tends to put her to sleep. As for "Mommy Porn" recommendations, I just watched WOMAN IN LOVE: A STORY OF MADAME BOVARY from 1984 that might be something that well-read women might actually sit through. Also SLEEPY HEAD, V-THE HOT ONE and ROOMMATES, other titles from that classic era, should work.
tb---PS--50 SHADES: A PORN PARODY is likely in our future.

^ If she wants to read a novel that involves BDSM and is good, just tell her to read The Story of O by Pauline Reage. It's quite a bit more graphic though, so be warned. It's a good book though imo. Then maybe she'll want to watch one of the many film adaptations, soft and hard.

The parody has already been cast, and shot (click for DVD cover). Allie Haze is playing the female lead.

GGG---She would rather read something better written like STORY OF O than 50 SHADES. So, thanks for the recommendation. Meanwhile, I've seen the softcore version of STORY OF O (on a double bill with EMMANUELLE years ago) but not the hardcore version. I'll try to round up the hardcore one.
I knew I had read something about the 50 SHADES parody so thanks for the link, Kill Bill---tb

^ There's more than one hardcore version. Story of Joanna, for example, is inspired by Story of O, as is Surrender of O etc. None of the ones I have seen come close to the novel in terms of brutality. I don't think it would be possible.
Have fun!

Since this book is universally regarded as crap, why is it so famous compared with other works of erotic literature?

^ It's not. It's just because it's happening now.

Let's hope it's a starting point for women that have read 50 Shades to move onto the better stuff (if they haven't already dabbled in erotic lit)
GGG---How was BELLE DE JOUR, the novel? I never did read your take on the book. I just scored Bunuel's film version on Criterion Collection that was 1/2 off at Barnes and Noble. Also, I have STORY OF JOANNA in my Top 84 so I'll see if my gal wants to check that out---TB

^ I love the novel. It's not graphic, but is erotic imo. Then you and the lady can watch V: The Hot One, which is based on it.

I'll try to have her get BELLE DE JOUR on her Kindle. I think she's already seen V-THE HOT ONE on DVD and Bunuel's version on the big screen at a local film fest.
Of the adult flicks, she digs ROOMMATES best---tb
