If you just dedicate some of your free time and patience to creating a website on you own then you won't have to deal with crooks and then you can't point fingers and put blame on anyone but yourself.

If people can find time to party every night, excuse me... every other night, then I'm sure they can find time to learn simple HTML or PHP even pay for a simple program to do it all for you like cut 'n paste. If you can walk and talk at the sametime then, you might discover it's pretty simple.Start out with clean and simple and then work your way up to complexity if you want... :)

I did it and it kinda hurt my brain *sarcasm*

I appreciate what you are saying Gen, and I agree to a point, but it's not that simple. Even if they master creating a website, that's just the beginning. They need content, and the expectations for the content is usually pretty high these days, especially if she intends to charge a monthly subscription. Who's going to do this for them? Or do they tackle this also?

Then, even if they design the site, and get content -- two big hurdles, there are all the administrative headaches. They need to find a adult host, credit card processor, have sufficient funding for bandwidth, and a zillion other little things like getting a domain, bank account, business license. It all takes time, knowledge, and $$$.

It can be done -- with hard work, dedication, willingness to learn and continual cash flow to ramp up. The question is, how many porn stars are willing to go this route?

I have to agree with Snowman, its not that easy to create a website.

But I think the women in the industry could spend more time, finding trusting people to create one.

Well if they dont have a bank account to begin with then they have no business even considering a "business" of any kind, like a website. Content isn't as difficult as people make it out to be. While I'm not the most attractive person in this industry and I'm certainly not new, with the resources available on the internet to network amongst amateurs and professional photographers and/or shooters and those willing to get tested and work with you are everywhere. I get offers all the time and always have, there's always a handful of people that need it as well. With the easy money that can be made in this biz, buying a decent camera shouldn't be a burden in someones financial budget. You can get them cheap these days.

Granted that many pay sites such as MeatCash may have tons of websites within and produce some really rough in high demand content for the consumer, we're speaking about the performer and a website that focuses on her. So obviously fans, like the girl for what she's done in the business. I don't agree that every girl in this industry has to do crazy things to make a successful website. Danni's Hard Drive didn't have to go nutty to make their money along with many other sites out there.

A year and a half ago, I think it was a little longer, I had a website where, okay it wasn't a paysite but I did take donations through paypal available for those who wanted to donate. I made average 2grand a month off it. And this is from not really promoting the website, no video, altough there were photos obviously not to the most hardcore most have seen me in but very frequent updates in blog entries. Majority had written to me saying their number one choice in going to the site was to read about my everyday life. I only speak from my own personal experience. I haven't been told, OH GEN YOUR SITE IS GONNA SUCK BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT DOING ANAL ON THERE FOR US.

It's really a matter of opinion. I only speak from my personal experience and seriously believe that if a girl is going to have someone handle the site for her, she had better know where he lives, his phone numbers all his personal information, I'd even request his fricken drivers license number and/or social # just in case he decides to bail.

Bottom line, having a website regardless if its free or not, it needs to be updated on a regular basis to keep spectators coming which requires a lot of time and effort, something that most girls in this industry DONT HAVE or choose to not have. If many can't answer simple fan mail how would you expect them to maintain a website or even keep their best interest in collaborating with someone to develop their site ? Such is life in the porn world, I guess.
