I believe this is the proper forum for this question. If not, please forgive me. :-)

Someone recently read some notes I made of a dvd I was reviewing for ADT. They asked what MS meant, which stands for money shot. They wanted to know why the cum shot is called that, and I didn't have a clear answer. Anyone here care to enlighten?

Thanks,
Draken

Well draken, I think the term "money shot" was first coined in the early 70's when pornography was becoming more widely produced and out in the open. And at that time the big thing in porn was the cumshot and almost all the fuck flicks made at that time featured it very prominently - almost to the point that it was THE most important part of the film. But times have definitely changed and while the cumshot is an integral part of any porn its not the absolute main feature as it once was, well except in movies catering to that aspect of course. So naturally, it came to be known as the so-called "money shot" as if thats what sold the movie in the first place. Of course, this is only my opinion and I could be wrong so what do I know...hehe

Apparently the term did not originate in the porn industry, but was used in filmmaking jargon for the most expensive shot in a production:
