Hey, I was wondering why porn boxes dont have a small section on the back dedicated to explaining whats on the DVD. For example, sometimes I buy a title because it looks good but when I watch the movie I see something that turns me off (black guy fucking white girl, for example). Anyone think we should have small info boxes???

We at the Bush, would love to see Director and Performers (First and Last name) listed on the boxcover. As well as the running time.

I want the montage of pictures on the back of the box to include names of the various actresses in those scenes. This way, if I don't really want that DVD, I'll see if there's a girl on the back cover I might be interested in and search for another DVD.

The more info the better, but I still derive my opinion about the movie from the small pics on the back of the box. They should tell you who is in the movie and what they are doing, if the box cover has been done right IMO.

yeah it would be great to have more info... but the names of actors/actresses should be a must as well as directors' full name.

as for the pics... they don't always show the real thing. But yeah I understand how a dvd can be deceiving when it didn't looked so bad in the first place... that's why it's better to read reviews before buying

Cleetus,
Unfortunately, it's buyer beware as far as boxcovers go - sometimes extremely so.
See the new thread just started by new member shark1...

Digital Sin boxcovers are VERY misleading

Good point but I make it a point to only get burned once, If I get screwed like that then I am very reluctant to pick up anything from that company again. I usually rent a video first anyway and then if I really like it I buy it on DVD, so if I get ripped it's only 2.oo and then they have lost a customer.

Sorry but I just got the image of one of those "serving suggestion only" signs they put on the Cornflakes pack, you know, the strawberries and milk don't really come in the box.
Or an ingredient list like a food label nutrition panel, listing all the "ingredients" of the film. The activity that occurs the most is listed at the top and so on. Then anyone "allergic" to certain acts could avoid a life threatening reaction..Oh imagine the power of the informed consumer.

Perhaps if there was less crappy copy on the cover ala " her tits are bigger than her head" (then again that may well be the information folks are looking for?) there'd be room for some real information like names. I never buy porn from the box cover and can't imagine that I ever will.

This reminded me of a silly "R" version of Robert McCallum's Garage Girls that we got given at one of those Sexpo events...the fine print on the cover actually says "the models shown on this front do not necessarily appear on this DVD". Who the fuck are they then?

I would like to see Videographer's name also.

And Cast pairings would be nice to see also,
and/or pictures from every scene on back cover.
Tom Byron's Evolution Erotica titles are done good,
like Just Ass For All.

I don't need to tell you that I am a HUGE supporter of IR porn. I have to dissagree with you though. It's been my experience that IR scenes are always respresented on the box. It's a deliberate effort on te part of the studios to get the dollar from the minority community.

Not sure who or what you are watchin, but I haven't had that issue. Matter of fact these days, most top black tallent has there own stuff, and you pretty much have to watch that to see IR.

Pocketcomb_Pimp, I'm not against IR porn but I was just saying what I liked. By all means it should be produced because a lot of people do like it. And to be fair, I do like IR porn but the guy must be white. The girls can be of any color.

But the info boxes should say:

scene 1 : threesome with XXXX with WWWW and ZZZZ
Cumshot on the face from 2 directions, good splat

scene 2 : Black girl getting tit fucked by white guy, good splat

Etc

Um, that's what reviews are for. The copy on the back of mainstream dvds doesn't tell you every twist of the plot. Like porn copy, it's advertising, it's meant to make you buy the movie.

And a little info for the guy who complained how in the pics the girl was looking at the camera, but she wasn't in the movie ... the still photographer is not the videographer. The still photographer tries to replicate the positions performed, but in most porn that's not crap (i.e.; you see the flash and/or hear the clicking camera) the stills are not taken at the actual moment the videographer is filming.

Having said that, I certainly agree that porn has a horrible history of deliberately misleading consumers, which is why I think you guys are so rightfully irritated ... I suggest keeping your eye open for the increasing number of producers who are using framegrabs from the actual video on the back covers -- Mike John was doing this at Anabolic, and a lot of us have picked up on his cue.

best,
DAC

That would be nice, but I know we have all rented at least one title where a star named did not appear, or the act that was described did not take place. I agree with you whole heartedly, but your best best is finding a reputable prodution cpmpany/distributor, and stick with their titles.
