Bring it on, Joey. I have literally nodded off, wood in hand, during a few Jules Jordan videos. Nevertheless, I like long scenes if they're good, and 20 more minutes of Keri Sable or Christie Lee with JJ would be fine by me. Good wanking is like the Tour of France. Its all about endurance. But, IMO, they're not. They're both adding additional scenes and leaving in footage that I had always believed was being cut in the past due to time constraints rather than because it was the edit that they wanted. Way back when, I noted that nearly every Evil Angel title was 2 hours 19 minutes. Coincidentally, this was the maximum limit of quality video tape. I had always assumed that the Evil Angel editors first edited a scene for content and then once they had all of the scenes for a movie put together, they would then edit to get the movie down to 2:19. I'm pretty sure that I was right. I just love the fact that they don't need to do this anymore. Even more, I love the fact that when Jules does go longer than a single DVD will allow, he then adds more content. The same goes for Erik. As far as I'm concerned, the directors should make the best movie that they can, regardless of the running time. [Link]

Click to expand Jules told me at Erotic Expo that all of his releases will be two disc and one of the reasons was to discourage pirating. I happen to feel the same as you, Bill. There were a lot of times that scenes seemed unnaturally short and edited for time constraints. Watch any Cumback Pussy, Whack Attack or Nasty Nymphos scene and you realize that they're almost highlight reels compared to contemporary wall to wall sportfucks. I don't understand why companies like NS/DS don't stretch themselves out past two hours. [Link]

I don't mind the 2-disc sets for that reason, but I would like to see some single disc releases mixed in to some of these series. For instance, the past 2 Service Animals releases (#19 and #20) were both 2-disc sets. I am hoping #21 due out in September will be a single disc, but I doubt it. As far as long scenes, Rocco Siffredi is notorious for having long scenes in his movies. As a result, there are sometimes only 3 scenes on a 3 hour DVD. [Link]

I have a twist for all of you... John Stagliano's next Buttman movie is coming out in September. It's called Buttman's Ass Adoro. John shot an AMAZING scene this past year in Brazil with Gina Jolie, Lorena and Jazz Duro. John didn't stop talking about it for months. When he edited the scene, it was almost 2 hours long. He edited it some more and it was still over 1 and 1/2 hours. So, John talked to the sales department at Evil Angel and said he wanted to release it as a single scene which would be 100 minutes long. It will also have some behind the scenes and some extra sex. This single disc will sell for less money than Evil Angel's other single disc movies. I've watched this whole scene - and especially for Buttman fans, I think they're REALLY going to love it. It's everything that we love about Buttman movies. Girls in body-hugging Brazilian clothes, face sitting, ass cheeks ALL over the place, and great sex with people who just want to fuck. The trailer's up on www.evilangel.com. Good editing is one of the biggest problem as I see it. Before jumping over to internet porn I was always pissed off when watching a dvd with a real long scene and no chapter stops??? Its one thing if its a gangbang movie then I want it to an hour or longer but a "one on one" or a threesome. That's just ridicilus. Its something wrong when I am seriously consider ripping the movie digitally to cut out chunks I dont like and believe those kind of thoughts have ocurred more than once. What they do by releasing scenes with hardly any cuts in them is that they save money but get a product thats not as good. I know a lot of the guys behind these kind of shoots will motivate it by saving the reality feeling is more genuine without cuts since the viewer should be able to share the participants POV through these kind of scenes. To me its the opposite, since they dont cross cut any more I get fed up after seeing Everhard or John Strong pounding away in the same position from the same angle for 10 or 15 minutes only disrupted by hectic and brief camera movements to the girls face. I'd rather see a great scene that is edited down and uses crosscutting that is paced than these lengthy sessions. [Link]

At some point. scenes can become repetitive, and that is where good editing can do wonders. I have seen some 40 minutes scenes that were hot all the way through though. So I guess it can vary from film-to-film, or scene-to-scene. I try to keep in mind that good stroke material isn't always simply about intercourse. Little things that mean nothing to some, but a lot to others, tend to get lost if a good/great scene is severely edited-down. My only true beef with longer films is when I feel films are being unnecessarily stretched to 2-disks, when 1 disk will do. I'm specifically referring to the technical video quality on the DVD. Studios such as Evil Angel, Anabolic, Jules Jordan, Kick Ass and many others try to cram too much content onto 1 disc. In some cases yes the movie is split across 2 or more discs, however, more than say 140 minutes on one disc and the video quality suffers. I would prefer say 100 minutes of pristine high bit rate video quality on one disc than say 180 minutes of merely average bit rate video. Yes there are exceptions and the skills of the encoders has a lot to do with it. Once again I stress that I'm referring to the compression artefacts introduced when studios try to stuff too much on 1 disc. I'm all for 240 minute movies or whatever but as long as it's spread out.
