As a result of the downtime in February I have decided to move the servers that host ADT into my home office. It's like going back to ADT's roots.

The first attempt at moving the site didn't go as planned. oops. Things appear to be ready now. I'll be taking the site offline in the early morning hours of April 8th. There will be an "Under Maintenance" placeholder page while I'm driving the servers from the data center to my new server closet at home.

This move is delayed due to weather. Seems odd to type that.

The fog is too thick to drive safely. I spent 45 minutes driving in the stuff to make it 25 miles and decided to turn around and come home. I'll try again in the morning.

Things have not gone well today. Need to drive a couple of these servers back to the data center.

I think I have things figured out with the new fiber service. Have some work to do reconfiguring things. I will try again in a few days.

Thanks for all the updates! As to the fog, yeah, fog can be some of the worst stuff to drive in. I'm glad you turned around. A web site is not something to get into an accident over.

I'm going to try this again late on April 7th/early morning April 8th. It's taken way to much effort to make this work. But the network here in the garage data center is complete.

I was doing a little work testing how long it would take to transfer the live site data over the the internet. Not really an option. It's faster for me to drive the production servers home from the data center, get them installed in the rack and do the slight config changes to get them operational here. I'll put up "Under Maintenance" placeholder pages during the physical move.

The current plan for tonight is to switch to the "Under Maintenance" site around 12:30 am Eastern US time. I'll be uninstalling all of the networking gear and servers to bring them home and get things up and running here. Hoping to have the site back up and running by 5am.

The placeholder page will look like this...

Still experiencing some DNS propagation issues.

Also, the server that hosts the interviews site is having some issues I'm working on. Hope to have everything back to normal soon.

This is mostly done at this point. Still need to do a little reconfiguring of the network. I want to setup a separate physical LAN for the network ports that send data to the backup servers. When backups are running currently there's enough network traffic that the site can run slowly.
