It's the DVD-Rom.

Not the disc. If you play that "Multi Angle" DVD in a regular set-top player, you won't encounter that. I asked myself the same question which you just posted. The result was the DVD-ROM. Remember, a DVD-ROM will never perform better than a regular set top player. The only huge advantage a DVD-ROM has is being fast when it comes to layer changes, which right now, it's not even one second. That is pretty cool, but that is about it.

DVD-ROM were never created for movies since the start, it was meant for programs and games. It turns out being that they play movies..they might as well commercial that which generates sales.

P.S: Try playing "Cable Guy" in a dvdrom..the widescreen side, no DVD-ROM in the world plays it. My Buttman At Nudes A Poppin #10, the special features don't play on my DVD-ROM but on my super Sony 560D, it plays flawless.

I still wonder how set-top players are able to handle the multi-angle feature better than DVD-Rom drives. There's also quite a cheap set-top player available here which is from a company called Yamakawa and in general it's just a DVD-Rom drive with a controller and a processor in a big black box, so it shouldn't behave different than a DVD-Rom drive. I just thought that might be the case with other standalone players as well.
I've got neither of the two DVDs you mentioned, but I wonder why no DVD-Rom should be able to play the Cable Guy DVD. Questions and nothing but questions ;-)

Cable Guy does not work because Columbia said it was an error in their coding. That is why DVD-Roms cannot read it.

The best thing is the layer changes in which a DVD-Rom has the advantage in and that is because of the memory buff.

But..layer changes to me are nothing.

Also...the camera angles on a DVD-Rom is longer than a layer change when trying to access! Go figure!
