Anyone else get irritated by some of the incidental music used in some porn?
From the tinkly, honky-tonk piano tunes that you find in some movies from the "Golden Age" to the totally inappropriate romantic violins etc. that crop up during scenes of hard anal fucking in some Euro porn (the latter obviously attempts to be "artistic" but which simply suck big-time).
Personally I prefer my porn music-free, and if if I find it too intrusive, I find myself hitting the "mute" button.
I'd have to agree that the music track has ruined a lot of otherwise good movies. I get the impression that sometimes it has been used just to dub over the direction calls.
What I really hate is when the original audio is completely missing and replaced with a music track. I much prefer to hear all the natural sounds of sex happening.
With few exceptions, my preference is for quality live sound from the action, and no music track at all.
As a rule I prefer no music and the genuine sounds of sex.
However, every rule has an exception, and one exception is Antonio Adamo. I adore the music he uses in his PRIVATE PENHOUSE features. I haven't seen them all, but I do own them all, and so far I've really been impressed. The music definitely adds to the fantasy.
Maybe that's the reason why it works. Some porn is just guys in a house somewhere fucking a girl everywhich way they can. And some porn is a manufactured fantasy of goddesses being pleasured. Or something. And in one case you want to hear all the grunting and groaning and stuff. Cause it makes it all more real and more, I dunno, 'dirty'. And, in the other case, the music elevates the sex act onto another plain.
Got to agree on the voice dubbing. Thats another passion killer. The Germans are particularly bad offenders at this. There seems to be one single dub tape of a German guy grunting "Ja .... Ja .... Ja ..... Ja ....." in the back of his throat that has been used in nearly half of the German videos i have seen in the last ten years. I hope the bloke is getting a royalty for it .
Germany is the world champion of voice dubbing. Every mainstream movie is dubbed and many, many porn movies. And it's not only the dialogue, they are also dubbing the moans and groans. Most of my German Countrymen must be crazy. I for myself hate this dubbing shit.
I hear you!!! The Germans are the worst of the lot!!! It's been the same guy and the same woman dubbing practically all non-German porn films for the German market ...ohhhhh, since Errol Flynn died I think!!! It's a fucking nightmare!
Most German-dubbed porns are best watched with the mute button very firmly pressed.
One really has to hand it to Anabolic for recent DVD releases which allow the music to be turned off. That is perhaps the best "bonus" feature fans could ask.
Except for early Andrew Blake flicks (NIGHT TRIPS, HIDDEN OBSESSIONS and so forth), I agree with that the so-called "music" in porn is almost as irritating as prolonged male reaction shots.
I just play all the DVD's on my DVD ROM and play winamp mp3 files in the background, the pick of my CD collection.
I find Uberzone's DOKTA DOKTA my all time favourite fucking track. It synchronises perfectly with every scene ever.
CATHY DENNIS and MARTIKA also seem to go well. Youthful female voices singing over youthful female voices moaning seems a nice juxtaposition, a smooth fugue indeed.
I am interested in any bands people find complements their porn, especially of the pert-techno variety.
Since I am seeking employment I'll take full credit for the off on switch on the Anabolic Diabolic DVDs. That was my braichild along with many others. The true defination of DVD is Digial Versitile Disc. The ideas I came up with at Ana/Dia are a mere tip of the iceberg still hidden to be revealed at a future date.
By the by, the music, Toby the Viking has been recently creating for Ana/Dia has been spectacular, it could easily be listened to as stand alone music and would pass the acid test.

Sometimes it's good to be tolerant, but this isn't one of them. I would quite happily go out and shoot whoever thought it would be a good idea to music on these films.
LOL. Before you go shooting anybody you might want to consider why they thought music would be preferable to the original sound track (assuming there was one).
totally agree that music in porno absolutely sucks. back when the Dark bros. were doing porno w/high visual and theme content, the tunes that accompanied usually were pretty kick-ass and added to the flavor of what they were doing. nowadays you cant really match their level of nastiness in the feature world('personally speaking'). gonzo doesnt need music, gonzo thrives on its attitude, and on being as stripped down as possible. xoxox V Swine
I HATE music during the sex in movies on several different levels. An example of the worst is in a movie I saw last year called BECOMING GEORGIA ADAIR. A movie with perfect lighting, decor, attractive male and female talent with excellent chemistry but with LOUD music playing constantly that completely upstages the sounds from the performers, making it virtually impossible to hear them during the sex. It really takes a lot of eroticism out of the scenes. Another, less annoying example is featured in I DREAM OF JENNA which has loud music playing throughout but with a sound feature that allows the viewer to choose the volume level during the sex scenes. One with the original soundtrack in which you can barely hear the performers during the sex & another with the music volume low. I wish there had been a sound feature which would have taken out the music completely. Jonni Darrko is a terrific director and includes great music in his movies at just the right moments but not during the action which is perfect. The FASHIONISTAS also has really excellent music that doesn't take away from the passion in the movie.
I always thought it would be interesting to watch a film with parodies of rock videos.

i would have to agree with von_swine. i think it depends on the type of scene it is. if it's a hard core anal scene then yes, some hard "ASS SLAMMING" metal would really set the mood. i don't think the actual screaming and spanking sounds should be edited out! naudia nyce
I agree, that's a great solution. Let the viewer choose . Personally I prefer no music at all during the scenes in gonzo, but for me well-chosen music can enhance the experience in features.
